If there was anyone's part being dubbed it should have been the Australian pilots...arrghhh!

They should have got aussies dubbing their part for Australian cinemas. On multiple viewings their Australian accents dont actually get any more tolerable.

As for the dubs in Japan, how do they differentiate when Mako is supposed to speak Japanese instead of English when they would always be hearing the dubbed Japanese lines.

Ugh, the Aussie accents were terrible. I'm glad Striker Eureka was an Australian mech, but her pilots did not give off an Aussie vibe at all.

As for Mako, they might make her lines English or another foreign language.

Caved on the tie-in novelization (don't judge me!!). Basically the movie but the little surprise was in-between chapters was often some fluff about the world presented via government/military reports, newspaper clippings, history book excerpts etc.

Some examples for anyone that cares:

the wall would also be useless against things that can fly... and probably stuff that can climb like a giant cockroach.

I don't blame them for not anticipating them being able to fly. When that thing sprouted wings and took off I burst out laughing because of how outrageous it all was. It's what? A million tonnes?

Edit:

Lol, that report about the relationship between size and strength etc. Kaiju certainly are ignoring them!

The subtitle of the movie should be Square Cube Law be Damned!

clearly someone forgot to carry a zero or something when kaijus can just walk through the wall like the cool-aid man.

It was weird that none of the jaeger tech was trickled back into society like with most military tech.

I'd expect some smaller scale construction jaegers building the walls or something.

They had to stall Leatherback as long as possible and couldn't do shit with a powered down Striker Eureka. Like Herc said, would you rather die doing nothing or doing something stupid?

I didn't feel like they were in much danger after it powered down. It seemed leatherback was going to leave it alone. I felt like the flare guns pissed it off and put them in more danger. Hmm...

That first moment with the sword and flying kaiju is my favorite moment in action movies. I sunk in in my seat because of all all my hype.

Leatherback was toying with them when they were powered down, but it's not like they knew its intentions. I know if it was my job to keep it from reaching the harbor, I'd do anything I could to stop it.

Del Toro already said there will be
a Gipsy Danger 2.0
in the sequel.
Really? that would be awesome! the only things I've heard about a possible sequel are the Mecha-Kaiju thing and that there would be a mexican Jaeger (not sure if Matador Fury or a new one).

How is the movie doing in other countries? I hope it's good enough to get a sequel, or at least they should do something like the Animatrix so we can see other Jaegers fighting against Kaijus.

Well, it's not like a 2,500 ton semi-terrestrial animal could exist in the first place. Flying is just gravy.

So are people saying that there is dubbing in the movie?
I had subtitles when I watched...

The foreign releases of the movie like in Singapore and the like dubbed Mako's lines into English when they were said in Japanese in the US release.

its a bit of a shame that the MGS dude's poster kinda spoiled the swords though.

I don't know why everyone is saying that the sword was some kind of hidden thing, it's clearly visible in many of the trailers as GD falls back to earth, and ever since pictures of the toys came out they've all had the swords. I may be wrong but I think even the blueprints they released ages ago had it?

Luckily for me, I go into movies dark. The only thing I knew ahead of time was GLaDoS voice.

Just saw it for the second time, and though I really wanted Cherno and Crimson to get more screentime, they really nailed the 'personalities' of those Jaegers. It's a shame that Striker and Gipsy feel so similar in comparison. Still I really loved the movie can't wait to go see it tomorrow again for the third time.

Any word on russian bot action figure/model yet?
Nope, but there will definitely be a series 3, and Cherno will almost certainly be a part of that series. I can't wait.

Preorder images. Notably, Striker Eureka's blades do fold up judging by the SDCC model on display, and Leatherback has articulated fingers (All the better to grab stuff with). I can't tell if he has articulated wrists or not; the San Diego model has seams there, but the one in the preorder image doesn't.

Edit: Actually, I can kinda see what look like seams in the preorder image. Hope they're swivels.

They're mass-market action figures. You're not going to get the same articulation or quality on a Monsterarts action figure, but on the other hand you're also not paying 80+ dollars.

I would say that isn't even up to Mcfarlane standards. The Kaiju looks like something I would pull out of a happy meal.

Where is My Goddamn Shoe? Had me and my little brother rolling in our seats. Such a fucking amazing movie. Nothing will top this.

Took some clearer shots of the figures tonight. Absolutely gorgeous.

Just saw it. I loved it. Cheesy, action packed, original yet a loving homage to soooo many mech/gundam stories... easily my movie of the summer.

If another movie was going to go through, what would people prefer, a sequel or a prequel?

Since the movie Pacific Rim was basically about the end war, do people want a movie about post-breach closure or at the prime of the Jaeger era...?

All I gotta say is that I sat in a theater and watched a big hollywood summer movie where a giant robot activates a rocket booster in it's elbow to punch a giant monster in the face.

I actually turned back into a 10 year old for the duration.
