That's not really a fair question IMO. A better question would be if you were to place Barca and Real's teams into England/Germany/Italy would you see the teams and those 2 individuals doing as well? I'd say overall, yes. In England they'd probably score more goals IMO.

Definitely not. Ronaldo wasn't scoring that many goals at United.

He plays in a different system now where he's allowed to express himself more and he's also a much better overall player now than he was back at Man United.

Difficult to say. Ronaldo scored 42 goals for us one season and he's improved as a goalscorer since then. Messi would thrive in every league.

Why should he win? He's stood out as the creative motor of the team for years and he's been consistenly great this season as well, not to mention his crucial role in the CL final. He certainly stood out and has actually started helping out in the defense as well. He's the type of player that could always provide the offensive boost we've needed at times, always dangerous and fast, but not entirely selfish.

You know, if one wanted to be malicious, he could say that Ribery is the player that can help a team a lot but will never win it anything big, today's Ballack. He could say that not Ribery made the difference but Robben being in good form again. 11/12: Robben was in no good form, Bayern hasn't won anything, arguably cost them the league and the CL with two not scored penalties. 12/13: Robben being in good form, he pretty much won them the DFB cup with his winning goal against us, scored the deciding goal in the CL final.

Robben for Ballon d'Or?

Just trying to give some context. It's important to remember that Bayern's domination last season was stunning given that they haven't won the Bundesliga for two straight years and it's also important because especially our CL final against Inter showed how important he actually is. It may not be noticeable, but without him on the pitch we've often lacked explosiveness, not to mention he usually draws multiple defenders on him. As someone that's followed Bayern for many years I think Ribery has been maybe the key player to our success, even if it's not immediately evident. I think the last match of last season (against Gladbach) showed how much fighting spirit Ribery has and how he can push the team.

Oh come on, Bayern played a great season in 11/12. The only problem for them was that they maybe focused a bit too much on the Finale Dahoam and BVB played an incredible second part of the season that won us the title. Bayern dominating the Bundesliga in the way they did was not expected but very possible, especially after we dropped way too many points early and the title wasn't really possible for us.

On the subject of the Ballon d'Or...

The Ballon d'Or should go to the best individual player taking into account the level of impact that they've had on their team. The moment you look at statistics the argument that Ribery or Robben should win falls flat on its face. Yes they were 2 key players in a fantastic season for Bayern but Bayern won everything because of the team overall being so strong (no obvious weaknesses) and the level of tactical discipline that was evident throughout the season. They were set up to play a certain way and executed it perfectly with efficiency almost every time they played. Bayern is a team built on a collective system that happens to include individuals with huge talent. There is nobody in that team however with Messi/Ronaldo levels of talent.

This is how much the players in question contributed overall to their teams last year including the % of the goals scored that they had a direct contribution to:

I didn't even do Robben because just glancing at his stats tells me there is no point. If you are to include the likes of Ribery and Robben in the players that should be seriously considered then the likes of Muller and Schweinsteiger need to also be included because of their huge contributions to Bayerns system overall as well.

This is a valid point but it's irrelevant if you subscribe to the idea that La Liga is unbalanced. If I want to watch a player score five goals past a team of accountants and waiters, I'll watch Viva and Arnie play with their pub teams.

I think one of the greatest feelings is when you have a song stuck in your head (sometimes just a piece) and after hours you it finally falls together and you remember what song it is. Like I heard a song over the casino PA a few weeks ago, and I knew I knew the song, I could hum along and even sing the lyrics but I couldn't for the life of me remember who it was.
