Do you guys think Ronaldo and Messi have an easier time of it in La Liga? Would they score that many goals in any other big league?

That's not really a fair question IMO. A better question would be if you were to place Barca and Real's teams into England/Germany/Italy would you see the teams and those 2 individuals doing as well? I'd say overall, yes. In England they'd probably score more goals IMO.

Definitely not. Ronaldo wasn't scoring that many goals at United.

He plays in a different system now where he's allowed to express himself more and he's also a much better overall player now than he was back at Man United.

Difficult to say. Ronaldo scored 42 goals for us one season and he's improved as a goalscorer since then. Messi would thrive in every league.

Lol, pal if you have no idea then please stfu...
I know you watched only 4 Bayern games but remember the cl final and his 2 assists...
His performances against Borisow, Lille, Barcelona...
Besides: He had the best ratings in the Bundesliga in 12/13... so bitch please.

Yeah, great post... And may I ask how many Barca and Real matches you have watched to properly judge who should win?

Why should he win? He's stood out as the creative motor of the team for years and he's been consistenly great this season as well, not to mention his crucial role in the CL final. He certainly stood out and has actually started helping out in the defense as well. He's the type of player that could always provide the offensive boost we've needed at times, always dangerous and fast, but not entirely selfish.
You know, if one wanted to be malicious, he could say that Ribery is the player that can help a team a lot but will never win it anything big, today's Ballack. He could say that not Ribery made the difference but Robben being in good form again. 11/12: Robben was in no good form, Bayern hasn't won anything, arguably cost them the league and the CL with two not scored penalties. 12/13: Robben being in good form, he pretty much won them the DFB cup with his winning goal against us, scored the deciding goal in the CL final.

Robben for Ballon d'Or?

Just trying to give some context. It's important to remember that Bayern's domination last season was stunning given that they haven't won the Bundesliga for two straight years and it's also important because especially our CL final against Inter showed how important he actually is. It may not be noticeable, but without him on the pitch we've often lacked explosiveness, not to mention he usually draws multiple defenders on him. As someone that's followed Bayern for many years I think Ribery has been maybe the key player to our success, even if it's not immediately evident. I think the last match of last season (against Gladbach) showed how much fighting spirit Ribery has and how he can push the team.

Oh come on, Bayern played a great season in 11/12. The only problem for them was that they maybe focused a bit too much on the Finale Dahoam and BVB played an incredible second part of the season that won us the title. Bayern dominating the Bundesliga in the way they did was not expected but very possible, especially after we dropped way too many points early and the title wasn't really possible for us.

On the subject of the Ballon d'Or...

The Ballon d'Or should go to the best individual player taking into account the level of impact that they've had on their team. The moment you look at statistics the argument that Ribery or Robben should win falls flat on its face. Yes they were 2 key players in a fantastic season for Bayern but Bayern won everything because of the team overall being so strong (no obvious weaknesses) and the level of tactical discipline that was evident throughout the season. They were set up to play a certain way and executed it perfectly with efficiency almost every time they played. Bayern is a team built on a collective system that happens to include individuals with huge talent. There is nobody in that team however with Messi/Ronaldo levels of talent.

This is how much the players in question contributed overall to their teams last year including the % of the goals scored that they had a direct contribution to:

I didn't even do Robben because just glancing at his stats tells me there is no point. If you are to include the likes of Ribery and Robben in the players that should be seriously considered then the likes of Muller and Schweinsteiger need to also be included because of their huge contributions to Bayerns system overall as well.
This is a valid point but it's irrelevant if you subscribe to the idea that La Liga is unbalanced. If I want to watch a player score five goals past a team of accountants and waiters, I'll watch Viva and Arnie play with their pub teams.

Muller is my pick.

That's an interesting enough question, who will be the next player to win the Balon d'Or not named Messi or Ronaldo?

Really this question could just be 'not named Messi' but Ronaldo always seems to be in contention in some way or another so if Messi had a quieter year Ronaldo could nip in.

Anyway my guess is - Januzaj.

This post was set up beautifully :lol

Won't be for another four or five years until one of them stops winning it anyway, so hard to say. But Adnan is a good bet.

From the Grauniad:

This is brilliant (and relevent after last night's bore draw at Old Trafford): Borussia Dortmund fans have started a Twitter campaign called #freeshinji in order to persuade their club to buy back Shinji Kagawa

He hasn’t warned the youngster not to get over-awed by the occasion though; instead Smith wants the Dons to enjoy their test against Premier League opposition.

“The main thing for us is we go to Sunderland with the right attitude, it feels strange going to Sunderland and not as a Newcastle player, last time I went there I played in the derby which is always a great atmosphere and tonight night will be something special as well.”

Nah, Alan. It won't be.

Nobody wanted to go tonight, fucking cunts. Even offered to buy their tickets. "Aww but how are we going to get there?"

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has claimed he will try to sue the Campania region for €100m after Gonzalo Higuain’s accident on Monday.

The Argentine striker fell on rocks in Capri and was sent to hospital where he received several stitches to his face.

As such, the goalscorer is unlikely to be available for several week, and the club’s chief has confirmed he will be looking for compensation.

“I have not met with Higuain,” he told reporters. “But I want to see this cut to see if I can sue the region of Campania and Capri.

“An actor, a footballer, and ordinary person – when they go to hospital they must be looked after well.

“I saw a picture of the wound and I am willing to ask my lawyers to ask for €100m in damage – a figure that I will donate to charity.”

Obviously more than you do.
If you'd had any reading comprehensive skills you'd see that I'm not declassing Ronaldo or Messi in any way. Just saying that Riberys part was the key for the treble and his performances made that season possible, I hope that even you understand this.

Acting like I'm dumb and can't read, yeah, great.

I've watched plenty of Bayern matches last season and no, Ribery didn't stand out so much to me that he deserves that prize. Müller, Lahm and Martinez were just as good and important. But that's just my dumb opinion, so what can I do?

I think one of the greatest feelings is when you have a song stuck in your head (sometimes just a piece) and after hours you it finally falls together and you remember what song it is. Like I heard a song over the casino PA a few weeks ago, and I knew I knew the song, I could hum along and even sing the lyrics but I couldn't for the life of me remember who it was.

Anyway, I finally remembered the name of the song, it was All the King's Men by Wild Beasts. Promptly bought the album (it's from 2008) and been listening to it nearly every day since. Damn I was so happy when I realized what it was. :lol Best thing ever.

I'd be amazed if that isn't something written by Martin Samuel or Adrian Durham

edit: Adrian Durham

No surprise to see him defending Joe Hart as well

Thanks for comfirming that I don't need to care to discuss with you.

C'mon dont be mad at me now. I already told you why I think Ribery deserved it (maybe any Bayern player). As good as Messi and Ronaldo are, individual class has to help the team by winning important matches and trophies. They do it frequently but not last season :)

No :(

Did you see ADL's quote on your boy Zuniga? There's still hope.

No, what did he say? We desperately need a left winger (of sorts), Yurt. I can live with Licht on the right, but Asamoah, as good and hardworking as he is, just doesn't cut it when going forward. He's a CM, always will be.
