For 5$ I would recommend Aliens : CM , they patched alot in, its still not a great game but the MP is quite good and the SP is respectable

Baldur's Gate 2:EE coming out November 19th. Article doesn't mention a Steam release and I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped the platform considering how much Atari screwed them over.

Can we just get the vanilla releases on Steam? Please?

I thought it was okay, but clearly a console port. Dunno about FOV (it did bother me a little at first but I got used to it) but it suffers from a severe case of Unreal Engine texture pop-in. Nevertheless, the game itself was well worth the $10 I paid for it a few years ago.
On second thought I already played it on 360, I don't need the PC version.

The problem is that there are so many good games out there, many of which are even cheaper, that it's not a question of money right now, but whether it's worth your time. And from what I've heard, this game isn't.

How bad is it that $5 feels like too much for Aliens?

It's called common sense good sir.

For a proper underrated game I really enjoyed Lost Planet 3 after finishing it today. It's not perfect, it has its flaws, but I had a blast with it. It's not another Turning Point thankfully. It's a sale game but it's most certainly worth a few quid/dollars. Hell I don't regret spending around £16 - £17 on it.

Feels like I haven't posted here in ages, but it's only been a few days.

Now, to post something on-topic... ehm... hmmm... to stop a gaben take control and press the gaben?

I thought about purchasing Aliens for a long time but kept holding off.

I finally got it, I played 11 minutes. It was patched, it is garbage.

You don't need to buy it guys.

Honestly, did you expect something different?

I feel a morbid curiosity to try it, but I value my money more than my masochism.

I picked up the retail copy when it was $15 at Newegg with a $15 mail in rebate card and activated on Steam. I feel secure in the fact that I probably won't ever play it but at least I didn't technically pay anything for it.

Origin or Uplay guys, which would you choose?

If we're choosing one that we get rid of completely I'd say Origin. EA can put their latest games on Steam without additional DRM and the world would be right again.

If we're choosing one that we would rather use, the obvious answer is neither.

Which would you prefere to use in a world where Steam and GOG don't exist?

If the only two available gaming "platforms" were uPlay or Origin, I would in all honesty pirate every game I wanted to play.

Annnnndd that's it for Splinter Cell: Double Agent. One word, hallelujah !
Don't remember a game that bugged, that rotten to the core. Doors that should open but that don't, quicksaves that should load but don't, glitches, glitches everywhere.
Some early current gen ports were bad, but this, this is something else. A shame.

A few notes -

- As I'm not particularly skilled at stealth gaming I'm not totally dreading the next one, maybe the more action oriented focus will suits me, we will see.

- Good stealth like the first ones or bangbangbigsplosion-fest, it can't be worse that this piece of quality assurance nightmare.

- I have read somewhere a line that stayed with me since I read it, something along the lines of a simple forgotten light source in the first games were a more intense thing than all the big action moments the new ones throw at the player. As I said, I'm no stealth specialist, but hell yes, the first time I had to shoot a light bulb in Splinter Cell remains burned in my head. The tension, the awfulness of Sam accuracy... ^_^

The Humble Store. Direct purchases.

...Restricting my choices to Origin and Uplay, I think Origin has had fewer egregious security breaches so that one.

Origin, in my personal experience, has yet to interfere with being able to play a game whereas I cannot say the same for uPlay and Ubisoft's always-online drm. So I'd go with the lesser of two evils.

There are issues with both systems, but, historically, Uplay has had far and away more consistent problems.

Uplay recently had a massive leak.

After which I *still* can't fucking log in to my account.
I've given up on Ubisoft, I'm not buying any of their shit anymore.
I'll play it when it's free on PS+, when I can just pull the network plug before playing and not have to worry about Unoplay.

That's a good point. I will be picking up a PS4 in 2015/2016, so maybe I will just pick up any Ubisoft games I actually want to play there.

I want to play Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon, Division, and Splinter Cell: BL, but I am completely turned off by Uplay. Only one of those titles is confirmed next-gen at this point, happens to also be the title I would rather play with M/KB.

Do you guys think there would be enough interest in a petition to remove Uplay from Steam games?

If I do some research and come up with all of the issues with Uplay over the years, the always-online, security breeches, inability to activate or play games, I think we would have quite a case.
Cite alternate business models. Have games sold on GMG, Amazon, etc, activate on Uplay, with the Steam version being standalone. Charge more for the Steam version comparatively, and have games bought on the Steam store activate on Uplay.
You are still driving users to your service organically, rather than missing out on potential sales entirely because people don't want to use your service.

I would love it, but I doubt they would do it.

I can only see this leading to one conclusion: No more Uplay games being sold on Steam.

I doubt they would make Uplay-free versions of their games.

Which is the better game, Fable 3 or Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning?

Amalur all day long man. It's HUGE. Tons and tons of content. Fable 3, it's not a horrible game, some good humour. There's just some ideas and thus gameplay mechanics in it that are inherently flawed. Shame 2 isn't available. Do yourself a favour and play Reckoning.

Witcher 2.

I see this guy had a better answer than mine. Though I wouldn't say KoA and Witcher provide the same experience or create a one or the one situation, I would recommend The Witcher 2 over, well, almost any game really.

I'd sign it. If it's well put together I may even be willing to link to it from Enhanced Steam.
