This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Guys, I need your help.

My PS3 controller is acting all wonky right now.

Sometimes it repeatedly presses the "X" button, sometimes square. This controller is only a little over two years old and has not been abused.

This is something that happens only sometimes, other times it's fine.

My question is this. Is there likely something messed up with the controller, or could it be bluetooth misbehaving?

Might just need resetting. At the back of the controller is a small hole next to the screw. You get a pin to press the small button in it. This will reset the controller and might solve your problem.

Umm can somebody tell me if what I might do will work? I myself am from Germany and want to gift Pokémon Y to a person in the UK so can that person change their eShop region to Germany on their UK 3DS and will it accept a German eShop card then? The language also shouldn't matter since as of Y and Y the Pokémon PAL releases are Multi 5 right?

Thanks for help in advance! :)

From what I remember of switching the region on my US 3DS, you should be able to access the German eShop (on a European 3DS) by switching the region. I think it wipes whatever credit you have in your wallet (not 100% sure on that). When you have access to the German eShop, every German download code works.
But, are you sure about X and Y being Multi-5? I'm pretty sure none of the DS Pokémons were Multi-5.
Also, you might want to try to the code without changing the region, it just might work (and should be the English version then).

I switch my Brazil account with my US account and after you switch it wipes the credit from one region. But when you switch back the credit is restored. You do not lose any money on wallet whatsoever.

Alright thanks for the help you two :) Also about the multi-language I'm not entirely sure but I remember reading about it and even seeing a screen of the language select screen once :/

So, as a follow up to my previous question:

When I get the 360, I've already got a list of games I want: Blue Dragon, Fable*, Infinite Undiscovery, Lost Odyssey, and Tales of Vesperia. Any other "must have" RPGs for the system? I already own Eternal Sonata for PS3, btw.

*Not sure which fable games are worth getting. Also, does Fable 1 work on the 360?

I believe so, but isn't there a Fable HD remake coming?

Is the oddworld stranger's wrath port on ps vita native res and 60 fps? is it a good port that controls well? (no input lag, no needless touch screen crap )

Fable 1 is available from the 360 marketplace, so I imagine it's playable. There may be technical issues according to this wikipedia entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360#List_of_compatible_titles

As mentioned by Kaduk, probably in your best interest to wait for the HD version.

As for must have RPG's on 360, that aren't multiplatform, I don't think there's many.

Something I've been wondering for a while now.

Why are some people still awaiting for Demon's Souls 2?

Isn't Dark Souls pretty much Demon's Souls 2? Are they not the same franchise?

My trusty old 360's network port got zapped by lightning. :(

I got a cheap replacement 360 (loose console only 2nd hand), its an old one from 2008 or something. It seems fine but I don't like the 'hum' noise it makes while its running, not like the disc drive noise (I install everything), just the general system running white noise (no idea what you call it). It gets on my nerves, seems to be worse the longer the system has been on.

My question is, should I just upgrade to a slim? How are they? Do they run with little noise?

I have many 360 backlog games still to play and two huge ones early next year still to be released so I plan to get a lot of use out of the 360 still.

This is where MS f**ked up, I know most people think its not important but to me if the Xbox One was backwards compatible I would have purchased it day 1 simply to play my old stuff for now. As it is I have no reason to get one yet.

I play my slim pretty often, and it's definitely quieter than my older one (forget what it's technically called, but it's the white 60GB with HDMI). I wouldn't say that it's totally whisper quiet or anything, but there is a big difference to me at least.
As far as how it is overall, I'm glad I got it. Of course there was an increase in hard drive space, which is never bad. I haven't had any issues playing games that come to mind. Plus it's smaller.
If you can find one for a decent price, or get one in a bundle this holiday, I'd probably recommend it.

Out of those what would you recommend for a female who only has pokemon and her gaming background is very little?
Super Scribblenauts is an excellent DSi game. Not as good as Scribblenauts Unlimited, but it is still very good.

In case you don't know what it is, it is a puzzle game where you can write whatever you want (it has to be appropriate though) and it will appear. There is an older game in the series called Scribblenauts (not Super Scribblenauts) as well but that one doesn't include adjectives.

EDIT:
Also, it's super easy to pick up and play. You don't need to be an experienced gamer.

No, those should be the same.

Edit: To clarify a bit. Triangles are polygons, but polygons aren't necessarily triangles. However, when it comes to computer graphics I think people mostly use triangles.

If i delete my credit card information from one PSN account will i be able to use the same credit card in another PSN account?
(probably yes but still i wanted to ask first :p)

Have a Game card with £230 on it and a PS4 preorder. I would therefore have £250 in my Game account and seriously considering a WiiU, as despite have all the consoles this time I have the best memories of the Wii Games.

Question is, are the numbers sold of the WiiU really that bad? Would Nintendo stick by it or will it likely be canned in a couple of years?

Does the 512 bit bus on the 290x mean that there might be an 8GB version in the future? Kinda similar to how the 760 / 770 have a 256 bit bus and have 2GB / 4GB versions.

I'm buying a ps4 at launch, but I'm only interested in Killzone SF. I was gonna get Asassins creed 4 but I am seeing a lot of animal hunting and I don't like that shit in my games.

do you guys think its stupid to buy a ps4 with just one launch game, and hold out for upcoming releases?

Do we have ANY inside look into any of the Valkyria Chronicles games? Not only the big ones, like developer diaries or making ofs, but also smaller ones, like engine showcases (for example: I think there was some sort of PowerPoint presentation showing off the new shading/animation systems in iDOLM@STER 2 engine).

Is there any possible GPU setup that would allow VRAM to stack with multiple cards? Kinda like all the GPUs working together as one unit and pooling all the RAM together?

iv mentioned this before but.... On my PS3 when your on the internet and go into a sight where you can watch videos it asks if you want to lead plugin or something.. i once clicked "yes and dont ask me this question again" and now since it never brings up that option i can never watch videos(it loads the hole page but the player)..... anybody know how i can fix this??

Gaf please help

i own red dead redemption and undead nightmare dlc. i don't like the multiplayer. is it worth getting the GOTY edition with all the dlc? from what i can tell undead nightmare is the only substantial singleplayer content, someone tell me if i'm wrong.

Two questions:

After not using my PS2 all summer (didn't bring it with me to my family's summer cottage), both of my controllers now have buttons that won't register when I press them. On one of them, pressing up on the d-pad doesn't register and on the other, pressing the O button, the up button on the d-pad, nor the L2 or R2 buttons work. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to get new controllers?

Second Question: Do they have circle pad pros for the 3DS XL?

have you tried opening them and seeing what might be the cause? i have extended the life of many a controller this way.

About to start a new character on Dragon Age: Origins. Going for a dual-wielder. My question is, would a warrior or rogue be better for this? I'm thinking warrior, as I could simply focus on STR and DEX. Am I wrong?

I'm not a member yet to make a new topic, so I might as well ask my question here.

Anyone know anything on tri-Ace has been doing lately or any murmurs of them working on any new console developed projects?

I know Yuichiro Kitao, the lead programmer recently left the company which concerns me somewhat on their future developments of any possible upcoming Star Ocean or Valkyrie Profile title.

Is there any information that they are working on another console project on the PS3 or even next gen on the PS4.

As far as I know tri-Ace has been pretty much quiet in terms of projects, so I was wondering anyone knows something I don't?

They're working on Phantasy Star Nova, I believe.

Has anyone heard anything about next-gen baseball games? Either The Show or MLB 2K?. I know 2k lost the license, but since 2k13, there has been nary a wisper about baseball... I need my MLB fix next-gen.

Also, Rainbow Six Patriots? Where the hell did that game go?

Its been a long time since I last played DAO but a dual-wielding rogue does huge amounts of damage. Needs some positioning and crowd control though to work optimally.

Im assuming you are playing on the PC? If yes, then it won't be a problem.

Never used dual-wielding as a warrior, always went sword and board so I can't comment on that.

I have a classic Nintendo DS (aka phat) which is cracked. I would like to replace it and was wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere for cheap (but not awful) shells? I'm not super fussy about the colour choice but would prefer a matching stylus.

I couldn't think of a better thread to ask this in, but I'm debating transferring my Wii content to my Wii U, but I wanted to know if it is possible to play the Wii VC games exclusively on the Gamepad?

I feel like the answer will probably be no :(

Wii U Virtual Console games can be played on your TV, or you can play with just the Wii U GamePad controller when someone else is watching TV.

You'll probably want to check this out as well.

My question was actually about playing Wii VC (Not Wii U VC) games on the gamepad. I know that there was some news about a Wii U update making it possible to play Wii games on the gamepad, but you couldn't control them from there. I was wondering if the same applies to Wii VC games. (Thank you, though)

When I got my graphics card, they gave me a free splintercell game.

However how on earth do I redeem it with Uplay? I tried entering it in the box at the checkout screen, but no luck. Any ideas?

Yes. You can display the Wii VC games on the GamePad, but you have to use an extra controller.

This what it says:

Step 2: On the Checkout page, type your promo-code in the empty field named: Promo Code

Step 3: Click on the "Apply" button

Step 4: Check that the Sub-total price on the right hand side shows that the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Blacklist™ Digital Deluxe Edition PC Download is free of charge

Step 5: Click on the Checkout button and follow the steps to complete your purchase
a. PLEASE NOTE: We require only the address fields to be completed, and agreement to the terms of sale on the payment page
b. You are not required to enter payment information for this order

Step 6: Once the purchase has been completed, you will receive a confirmation email with all the download information

Step 7: Please ensure you take a note of your Order number in case you need to get in touch with Ubisoft Support

The very first link doesn't even work properly, because it is the Australian store. And I can't find any button to go straight to the checkout page anyway.

If you're not in Australia then that's a problem I suppose.
It re-directs me to the German store and cart containing the game. It appears like I could follow the instructions from there.

I don't know what could be screwing up the re-direct for you. Maybe try a different browser. If that doesn't work try the how-to I linked.
