Fighting Games Weekly | Nov 4-10 | I-No what that finger smells like [18+]

ChrisG vs FChamp first round is nuts. They are the two best players there. You never put the 2 best players against each other as the first round.
Oh, you're reading it wrong. The "/" is a flex slot. Chris/Champ will end up on opposite sides of the bracket.
I hope Yipes fights KBR first round.
I like you.

No Zero Trilogy for Capcom Cup. Maybe Marlin Pie won't choke and hit the Viper Trilogy.

I am 90% sure ChrisG is going to use his Wesker team unless he faces off against FChamp. He already bodied Yipes with it at Yomoucon.

Chris G was trolling people at Youmacon. He's not gonna pull that shit at Capcom Cup.

He'll go full force Sou Sou Sou Fists.

You don't want Justin, Champ, Chris or Nemo fighting each other first round. Then it's a matter of picking good matchups.
I agree with that but the way you listed the brackets made no sense to me. Like to me this bracket would make sense.

FChamp vs Yipes
Justin Wong vs Abegen

Nemo vs KBR
ChrisG vs MarlinPie

I feel Yipes would end up picking spencer/vergil/hawkeye or dante/vergil/magneto, either out of respect for Nemo or just to save face if he gets matched up against him.

Sadly, no ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

You definitely don't want random brackets here (or in any of them.)

I would go

Chris/FChamp
Yipes/Marlinpie/KBR/Abegen

Nemo
Yipes/Marlinpie
---------------------
Justin
KBR/Abegen

Chris/FChamp
Yipes/Marlinpie/KBR/Abegen

Maximum excitement/grudge matches:

KBR vs Abegen
Nemo vs Marlinpie
Fchamp vs Yipes
Justin Wong vs Chris G

But only if they announce the matchups super early so the players can prepare.

If everyone picks their shit at Capcom Cup we'll have 3 dooms and 1-2 vergils.
2-3 Dooms
1-2 Novas
1-2 Spencers
1-2 Strange
1-2 Vergil
1 Magneto
1 Phoenix
1 Dormammu
1 Viper
1 Wolverine
1 Storm
1 Akuma
1 Ammy
1 Morrigan
1 Tron
1 Thor
1 She Hulk
1 Hulk
1 Haggar
1 Sentinel
1 Dante (?)
1 Wesker (?)
1 Ryu (?)
1 Hawkeye (?)

This is what the roster will look like. Probably the most varied Marvel top 8 we will ever have, I guess only Shadowloo Showdown top 8 was comparable. If ChrisG picks his Wesker team, Yipes his Brotherhood team and FChamp picks Dorm/Morrigan/Phoenix we would have a perfect 24 character roster.

I need him to pick D/V/M, need some Spardio bros action at C-Cup pls

Champ will totally play his Phoenix team, stubborn like he always is, and I'm curious about Yipes, I don't think he'll pick Nemo's team, since...well, Nemo is there, and besides that, that's not even his main team. I think he'll go Magnus May Cry

Assuming that Capcom Cup is using a double-elimination format for UMvC3, I suspect we will be surprised at how the bracket is generated.

The trailer makes it clear they're going for hype matches. If you're using a double-elimination format, then you're not guaranteed to get that (although you might have a high probability, I can't say what Capcom's tolerance for that is).

That said, people are recommending a round-robin format (here and on Twitter) in at least the first round is the only way to guarantee hype matchups (since everyone plays each other).

The drawback to that is that you'll have some snoozefests in between in certain matchups in a round-robin format.

Capcom will have to pick their poison in this case.

There is no match up in that pool of 8 players that would be snoozefest. Worst case scenario would be ChrisG laming out someone like KBR or Abegen 3-0 but like I said I don't even think ChrisG will be using his main shit unless it's against FChamp. He has beaten both Yipes and Justin with his Wesker team before and he can definitely beat the rest of the players there with that team.

People should not be channeling their anger towards Capcom but rather at the community for voting. Capcom had a direct goal for the tournament and they delivered on that. It's the community's choice 100%.

A top 8 with no Zeroes? This is a glorious day! :-P

I don't think that's a good thing. Having one Zero in a top 8 is fine especially when it's the best Zero who is also the EVO champ. It's really no different than having a Vergil or multiple Dooms in the bracket which is what we will have anyway. People can beat Zero especially Flocker's Zero who is not backed up by Missiles, Plasma Beam or Jam Session.

I like watching character specialists. Pretty much everyone there is a character specialist which I like (except Yipes I guess) and Flocker deserved to be in there.

Yea, it's a shame he didn't make it, but I guess the community hates Zero. I think part of it is that Flocker himself is pretty forgettable as a person; everyone else on there has some established appeal and fandom beyond their skills.

I am so ready for that mirror match. Yipes gonna choke it up.

Someone tell Yipes that you'll get no pot, nobody is streaming, nobody is actually in the audience, and that Capcom Cup doesn't matter.

If you can get him to not care, then he'll just 3-0 a lot of people inexplicably.

Oh look, a popularity contest doesn't get the players people want to see play, including the EVO champ who everybody consistently forgets is a threat in the game. Lets rage.

How was it not obvious from the start for people that a fan vote would end horribly? Especially for a game with such strong, constrasting opinions from both the player base and the viewer base? And oh look, it did end up that way.

The criteria was most entertaining, and for the most part it sort of fits with what people would want out of an entertaining Top 8. I kinda get where Flash is coming from with regards to Flocker not being in there if the criteria was something different like performance. Otherwise, I can see why the majority would vote pretty much all of those over Flocker.

Should still be a good event, but I would have rather it be curated. I think it at least represents some really different play styles, I can't in confidence say any two of those people play alike. I think the only person I would personally replace is Abegen, maybe replace him with someone like Moons, even if Abegen's team is arguably more refreshing.

these idiots are butt hurt over a popularity contest.

NEWSFLASH
Nobody "deserves" anything. Capcom cup, means capcom rules. Not some shitty "well this guy won this xyz tournament". The sense of entitlement is super huge.

I still don't get why there are nor Force Breaks yet.
At least Yellow Roman Cancels are 25%, so that's something, but there should still be Force Breaks.

I don't think it ended up being "horrible" aside from the Flocker situation. If Flocker was in instead of Yipes then this would be a "gods" versus hype/swag/international players which would've been perfectly fine same as the SFxT tourney. It's less than ideal but it's still a good match up.

Yep, some people like Justin have been saying that on twitter. Guys like Flocker and RayRay don't market themselves like FChamp and ChrisG do.

Yipes is a God. Never hasn't been. But he belongs there if we're talking most entertaining. Everyone wants to catch a Yipes match, even in his slumps of poorer performance, some weirdos even take pleasure out of him losing. He is an icon in the fighting game community and especially with respect to just Marvel. Same exact arguments for Justin Wong. Even in his slumps of poorer performance people watch to respect and analyze their decision making and the small, tiny intelligent things they do that salvage losses. And when they're on fire, they're on fire.

Ended perfectly fine if you ask me :)

Unlike Yipes, Justin actually pulls his weight in tournaments and actually performs making it into top 8s consistently. Yipes isn't a god in this game, he's not top 5. He's essentially the American version of Nemo. I guess if Nemo is on there then Yipes should be on there too.

He has great movement, he has great set ups and his offensive is delicious but he makes bad decisions and most importantly he makes very bad X factor burns which costs him matches. That is why FChamp has an excellent record against him, he knows that Yipes will burn his XF willy nilly and then FChamp just has to lame him out. ChrisG beat Yipes with his Wesker team at the latest tournament and ChrisG showed more respect to JDM than Yipes (or I guess he didn't want to use his B team in the grand finals or people would accuse him of collusion).

played with the ps4 today. the pad is much more comfortable and the d-pad feels much better because of it. its going to be a really good fighting game pad. the new triggers are much better too. the new analog stick was kinda disappointing to be honest. didn't feel too great and my thumb was even slipping off at times.
