This was a great surprise for me. One of my favorite shows last season, and going into this season. A lot of fun, surprisingly clever, and DATABASE DATABASE.

Shiroe is such a great mc, I normal don't like his type but he is my favorite anime character since Okabeand Kurisu from Steins;Gate.

The first few episodes are pretty boring, especially the fight scenes. It is either the other sides are too dumb or too under level.

It got pretty enjoyable after episode 4, I am at episode 10 now and I realize battle is never the focus of the show. Instead of comparing this to SAO or Accel World, this show is more similar to Wolf and Spice.

Yeah, the first arc is definitely weakest. It's unusual to see a show that gets more interesting when they dial down the action.

I really enjoy this anime. The characters are so...practical? Believable? I can't quite put my finger on it but everything just clicks. Shiroe is amazing but pretty much all the major/minor repeating characters I can think of are enjoyable or became enjoyable as the show has gone on.

My only gripe is that none of the main characters right now are summoners. I wanna see all the awesome pets!

Jesus after watching SAO I get furious at even the thought of another Anime based on a game. I goddamned hate it. It also seems so.... corny. Like.... Pander to your audience much? Jesus. An anime about and MMO...

Anyways since this is on crunchy Ill give it a whirl anyway.

If it helps you any its miles above .hack and SAO, and far more light hearted to boot, and tends to not reference MMO culture in a way that's completely fucking cringe worthy. I think that's why I enjoy it anyway.

That's like saying "I hate all Vampire movies because I saw Twilight".

Eh, definitely give it a shot it will surprise you.
Hard to say much since the main and only real comparison is SAO so saying such and such is better than SAO's doesn't really help.

Though a major difference is the setting, SAO's is basically a cardboard backdrop.
Log Horizon's has basically every element possible of an MMO/Game world(day/night cycle and faster time, XP, respawns, in game events, etc)
But it also has a great feeling of being living and breathing.
The show greatly focuses on in world politics and even the relationship between the players and 'NPCs'

Dropped after five or so episodes. Almost no coherent story, lots of plot holes, boring stereotypical characters, bland and uninspired world. Opening theme is good, and animation is decent sometimes.

Ummm.... it's nothing like SAO or .hack.

I saw the first couple eps and kind of dropped it back when it first started airing. I didn't really dislike it I just wasn't that interested in following it. Perhaps I'll give it another chance.

I gets better after the first couple of episodes and really cements itself during the Return to Akihabara arc.

The anime is at its best when focused on Rudy and Touya and their crew as its nice to see the way they are able to accurately show how a beginners take on a mmo can be and the approach to strategy and rules and even good skills. I guess that whats makes this feel a bit special for the anime as though it has the larger things going on with Shiryou and being a simulator of nation guild building of sorts, this other team does appeal to those more focused on action and such. In any event ever since their arc it has really taken off on being a good one.

Hopefully they get a full fledged spinoff if the series gets big.

So I watched the first episodes early this morning and I'm already hooked. I'm loving the atmosphere of the show and the characters already.

I'm going to have to log on a bit more tonight...

Database Database Wow Wow

I definitely hate Vampire Movies. Twilight just confirmed it.

But yeah, I like the laid back nature of this show and the way they bring some real emotion to the table. It almost feels like a Slice-of-life anime with some battles and politics to keep it going.

Really surprised how much I am enjoying this Anime.

At least LN doesn't play the perma-death card
(it's subverted later)
and feels much more positive as the main protagonist aims to build a community for his fellow adventurers (and a home to call his own), with a working economy, laws, etc.

It's more mature than all those emo-crap anime series which seems obligated to kill their characters to pass as mature.

Or worse in SAO's case when they create characters for the sole purpose of quickly killing off.
And then
when the 2 main characters actually die, some dumb contrived shit saves the day.

Uh...yeah, this series is really great thus far. I only have a few episodes left till I'm caught up. At this point, I feels it's been the best way of conveying that MMO feeling without making all of the events within the game feel pointless or shallow.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how it continues to progress.

The latest episode was just lovely, the princess is adorable and I enjoyed the last scenes the most with her and crusty on the giant bird.

You will feel differently after watching it :p

Finished up the last episode and I'm liking the direction the show is going. I will say that this episode did feel a bit slower than the previous few, but I'm thinking the pace will pick up soon with the
impending war with the Goblin King and the individual demi-human clans.

I suddenly feel that there hasn't been enough Maryelle, or Serara daydreaming about Nyanta in the latest episodes/chapters...

Same as Razgriz-Specter, I'm not a big fan of Minori :(
At least we still have Akatsuki, thanks god.

Watched all the episodes the last couple days. Really enjoying this so far. The world-building and politics are great. The characters are all really likable. Much better than SAO already.

Any talks of a second season for this?

Looking at the light novel releases, we might get one, but we might have to wait a year or two before they announce a sequel. There are seven out right now, the last one was just released, and it seems this arc will end around the end of book four.

I still need to read the novels as well.

Is the first episode representative of the rest of the show? I was kinda hoping they would continue to the show midstream but then they flash back to go through routine of people being shocked. The characters were also pretty annoying, not really a fan of the pervy dumb guy and the stoic RPing loli. I am interested in the premise but that only goes so far.

Thats pretty much me looking at the time right now waiting for the next episode.

something I noticed though that slightly bugs me is the fact that Shiroe and Naotsugu are max level badasses yet the design of their gear is generic or low level looking.

Boring but practical (not going to link to tvtropes, i'm not that evil)
