Log Horizon S2 |OT| been down so long it looks like up to me

Boring but practical (not going to link to tvtropes, i'm not that evil)
Lol
I don't mean anything ridiculous and over the top, Krusty's for example looks like/is some max level/end game stuff.
Even Seta the pimp has some unique looking gear.
While Shiroe's robe seriously looks like something you get at the start of the game

It isn't a big deal though.

Is the first episode representative of the rest of the show? I was kinda hoping they would continue to the show midstream but then they flash back to go through routine of people being shocked. The characters were also pretty annoying, not really a fan of the pervy dumb guy and the stoic RPing loli. I am interested in the premise but that only goes so far.

Not really, the first few episodes had alot of action and then the minor adventure.
After that it quickly got to the great stuff(politics, world building, etc.)

As for when the show gets good, I feel like episode 6 was the turning point for me. Despite having almost no fighting, that episode contained a ton of info about the world and really distanced itself from other 'virtual' animes.

After that I found myself checking if the new ep was up every week.

Crusty's gear is supposed to be a pretty high level.

Log Horizon Episode 18:

Yes, watching the princess taking in the sights and sounds of Akihabara and remarking on the differences of cultures is one of those little touches that really elevate Log Horizon. Seriously, I have not seen an anime this good at world build since One Piece, an odd thing to say perhaps, but One Piece is really good at building up its world as well. Anyway, the big event is here and we see the lazy, avowedly cowardly princess pull and Queen Elizabeth I to really the the mercantile forces of the Adventurers. I also like how even though the Round Table has left only the more nominal of members, the politicians do not stop even in the face of this area bending crisis. Also, we fin ally get to see the steam engine and, yea, the Adventureres have just ushered in the Industrial Revolution and nothing is ever going to be the same anymore. At any rate, it looks like the war truly begins next episode and I can hardly wait.

One thing that I thought was weird (albeit stylisticly cool) in games like Final Fantasy was how technology exists in a fantasy world. The premise of Log Horizon is actually a really brilliant way of introducing modern tech (via knowledge of the players' past lives in the real world) into a medieval-age world.

(plot spoilers for the first several episodes)
How they introduce the steam engines after they discover custom crafting was really neat. Maybe they'll eventually progress to magitek armor and shit :P

Why aren't more people watching this?

Also, I don't have time to find out myself, what is anime-gaf's verdict on this show so far?

I was giggling all the way through [e18]
Lenessia's rallying cry to the adventurers of Akihabara. Of course, she didn't know it, but obviously there was exactly a 0% chance she'd fail - She was basically asking MMO players to partecipate in a massive one-off event, plus some sheer roleplay in protecting the kingdom and saving the princess. And when the crowd roars in support, even after Shiroe's monitions, she's actually surprised!

The main thing i'm liking about LH is that it takes practically all MMO tropes and runs with them, effectively depicting a game in it's inner workings, and, for once, from the side of the NPCs - Something SAO sorely lacked in.
It's everything sao should've been, what i hoped it would be after the first ep, and more.
The 'patches' being felt by the NPCs as 'world-class magic', the kingdoms of man having troubles dealing with respawning mobs, it's all so incredibly.. exact. All the way, whatever it be character behaviours in relation to the game, or game mechanics translated, i can't do anything but acknowledge "Yeah, that's exactly how it'd go".

I just started watching this and I freaking love it. Wish I watched it earlier. I'm currently on I think episode 13 or 14.

Also Log Horizon > SAO.

I am two and a half episodes behind. Will catch up tomorrow.

Nice to see this thread have an OT. wow wow

And yes, LH >.hack>SAO. By miles.

Dropped schemas, no login account, no security access to view object :(

Prolly cause it isn't all action/stupidity which is what seems to be popular
Idk, while it does a good job of explaining everything, it could use a little more kinetic conflict with high stakes. Hopefully this is just the show starting out slow to build a foundation.

We're about to have a goblin war, I like that battles aren't throw away entertainment in here and there is build and meaning to it.

Just started watching this show this weekend...blew through all the eps in like 4 days. I need more DATABASE DATABASE...

Why could I have not discovered this show before SAO??

I did the exact same thing.

the show is brilliant. It really helps that its pure world building and not pointless fighting. I like the whole idea of "well, we are stuck her instead of focusing on why lets focus on building a better world around us"

Party up in here.
And now I'm caught up and know what is going on there.

About to put together a ~90 person raid for a new "world event" with no loot rewards, but lots of rep. Just thinking about trying to run that makes me tired. Major props to
the writers for convincingly crafting
Crusty and Shiroe.
Any chances of a second series?
Yeah, I'd like to know how this might work too.

Any chances of a second series?

Highly probable. If they end with a cliffhanger in the goblin war and let the LNs stew a bit longer.

After that they can continue with politics, seduction, proxy-merchant battles and more akatsuki goodness with
another adventurer city
.

The scene in the OP where he "dies" and the fact that he can't be added to a friend list both suggest that.

Yeah,
I thought he couldn't be friended for some other reason. It seems a little to backwards to me for a NPC to get loot. Also, NPCs don't level up.

Ohhhh....I always skip the opening song because they usually show spoilery shit in there. I guess that is a possibility.

I didn't realize that this is already an established series in print media. Perhaps I should be more careful about avoiding spoilers; I naively assumed that the latest episode was all that's been shown so far in any media.

Skipping the opening of Log Horizon is basically heresy. :P

oh shit is it up on crunchy yet

I'm all caught up. Re: rudy though.
seems odd that he can be searched on the UI, but not added to the friendslist. Actually, the UI stuff is still yet to be explained!

Its possible that people of the land can be added to parties. Think escort quests (fuck them).

hmm, well, i think that npcs do correspond with player levels since when they were outfitting the princess, crusty was angling for something <lvl 4

Well, i was wondering if they could have classes, spells, leveling up etc. or if they were set according to their created stats.

The princess herself said that they had summoners in their kingdom. This is after she witnesses Krusty's summoners summon phoenixes though (at least in the book), so it should be EP 20. I think it is mentioned that people of the land cannot gain levels.

Subs of EP 19 are out. I can't handle the DATABASE DATABASE

Definitely the best episode for me so far. On the edge of my seat the whole time. I love the strategy aspect of this rather than the "I'm the beater" style from SAO.

Episode 19

That was a very good episode. Dat Crusty, awesome seeing they employing and executing their strategies.

I wonder what Shiroe will do to revert the situation.

E19
So I was wrong about Rudy =/ Hope Shiroe will figure something out.

Crusty is OP! Can't wait to see Shiroe & Akatsuki unleash their full abilities too.

Ep 119
Damn man...
Rudy dying was rough. Did not even think he'd be one of the People of the Land mainly because as far as we have seen, when examined they stick out and don't have specific stats. I would guess that would come out through examining or in parties unless this is more of the major changes happening in the world. People of the Land being able to re-write themselves to appear like adventurers?

I'm sure he'll be back if that preview is anything to go by.

I also thought that something else was going on with the log on thing and was wondering if they were going to bring that back up again.

Such a damn fine episode and I'm hoping that we get another season too.

Crusty's class is a tank class, but I guess with that 2 hand axe of his, he can do some pretty decent damage output as well.

The attack power of that axe is the highest in the game among weapons (based on that info on Crusty) and it increases based on hate. Sounds like fantastic damage output as long as he has good support and armor to back it up, which he does.
