Rudy!! :[

I wonder it they're gonna have Shiroe
write up a contract for Rudy to make him a adventurer or something. I remember Shiroe made it a point to find out what other stuff a scribe person can do with writing and given the preview I take it that he plans to do something really out there that changes how people look at things in the world.

Dat episode 19. Finally we see Crusty in his glorious natural environment. Akatsuki
aching for battle
was a nice touch.
Rudy :( The dog kicked the Dire Wolves asses big time!

Ep19

Given that they've discovered how real world techniques can be applied to the game world (cooking food, constructing steam ships, etc), I thought that they might try CPR or something.

Log Horizon Episode 19

It is now the time for war, and god damn do I love how seamless this show can shift from the frontline clashes to the tactical command bunker to give us a true image of the fight Still the crux of this episode is on our junior league squadron and we see how far they have come in such a short time, how well they are working together, a very nice touch. Sadly they still of limited power and then Rundal House Code had to go and do a stupid thing and sacrifice his one life. God damn more people should be watching this program.

Crusty is a DPS-Tank that relies on the heavy damage he does to keep agro while killing enemies left and right. He probably doesn't have to rely on having that high of a defense stat since his armor is top tier. He obviously wouldn't be the best person to main tank a world boss. His class build is basically a Beserker.

Also Crusty is fucking crazy so he goes with the build.

Crusty's class is a tank class, but I guess with that 2 hand axe of his, he can do some pretty decent damage output as well.

He also out level
all the goblin by a lot, the giant boss is 70s and even level 30s can kill a group of normal goblin.

19 was pretty good. Nice change of pace after the political and world building stuffs of the last few episode. Loved Crusty's "Now THIS is how you play an MMORPG" look. They are obviously doing something with Rudy
though unclear if it means reviving him or not.

But the lack of any Log Horizon figures in WonFes bugged me :[

I'm enjoying this show way too much.
Every time a new episode comes out I go in full apathy mode, unable to do anything because I just want to play a game that doesn't exist. It's so frustrating.

didn't see a single piece of merchandise from Wonderfest
So im guessing the show just really isn't popular at all.

Well, its disc sales were around (a little bellow?) 4k, which is significantly higher than most NHK funded anime and beat some otaku shows that did get merchandising. I guess it just wasn't expected that it'd go beyond NHK's usual audience at all. On the other hand, it's also not some big smashing success that would make companies leap to it immediately either.

I'm thinking that
he can probably start coding in patches or something under the guise of magic? Or maybe offer some kind of magical contact, given the title. But with who, I don't know.

Yea the half-gaia is interesting

You guessed right.

The implications of
such a contract is staggering, but is not explored up to volume 6, which is where the EN translation is.

Volume 5 of the LN
explores politics and political backstabbing, as well as reveals the existence of a rival adventurer city, governed by a shadow leader who has forced all the adventurers in her city to merge into one guild. Its a classic democracy vs dictatorship scenario. BUT it is only mentioned in the interlude, which gives room for some serious keikaku(s).

Volume 6
explores that the apocalypse is still happening. Changes are still occurring in the world of Elder Tales, the world is growing in size, those not of the cook subclass can make salads with varying success, those not of the crafter subclass can create with varying success, and flavour text of items begin to be implemented. The mechanisms behind game rules in the world, such as the guardians who spawn to prevent PKs in cities, are revealed in a more detailed manner.
In the end,
in order to combat an NPC who was driven mad by the flavour text of a cursed sword, and who stole a guardian suit, the magic circle under Akiba was shut down to power down the suit. This means that the city of Akiba will no longer be protected from monsters for 10 years, which is the amount of time required to power the magic circle on again.

I will say though.
Vol 6 ended without an interlude. The climax of the story was pretty good, but the ending was way too short and unsatisfying. The author definitely did not run out of pages. He just came out of a 16 month break though.

Episode 19 was pretty crazy.

I kinda figured Rudy was a Person of the Land since Izuzu couldn't add him, but it still sucks to see him die. :(
Then again, looks like he might be coming back to life next episode, so we'll see.

Seeing Crusty in action was pretty awesome though.

Just spent the majority of this weekend catching up on the show, holy crap - an anime that understands video games. Like, the really get it. Ugh, now I'm all excited for Ep 20!

Hey Hekk, can you mark your LN spoilers [I know you marked most of them but you kinda left one outside the tags]? Getting a little confused re: what's LN spoilers and what's anime spoilers.

They were in the crowd in Episode 18.

Oh Rundelhaus

This show has a slow beginning but it really picks up about 5 or 6 episodes in. Caught up all the way to 19 now and loving the series. I hope they get another season because it feels like they are just getting started.

I'm really proud of the newbie team, especially how good Serara has gotten. IsuzuxRudy OTP.

In case people here didn't know, the anime is censored compared to the source material. Monsters bleed in the source material, and don't just turn into bubbles. It's to be expected though since this show is broadcasted in pretty much Japan's PBS.

Also Crusty is fucking crazy.

Not sure I like the censoring if there really is blood. Blood would make the world seem a little more real, instead of being more like a video game with the bubbles.

Raws of Ep 20 are out. Japanese speakers rejoice!!

A little non-story tidbit:
Raynessia blushing when she spied Krusty wiping himself off in the river. When's the wedding?

Marielle also makes a nice sound at 18:55

Log Horizon Episode 20:

Ship teasing, ship teasing everywhere. Well, save for Izusu and Rudy, if they are not an official couple now, I will be very disappointed. Anyway, what a grand calumniation to the arc, though I am disappointed that we didn't get more action scenes out of it. Still, to see all of the little world building details play in concert, that was pure magnificence. Indeed, a great magic has been created this day, the power to grant immortality to the people of the land, that is a gamechanger even among gamechangers and it is no wonder Shiore want this kept top secret. The implications of these new contract magic and truly profound and truly dangerous in the wrong hands. Seems like we will be getting one last arc before this season ends perhaps.

I hope baka-tsuki will continue to translate the spin-off, and keep my fingers crossed for a second season when the main plot in the novel will have progressed and
Kanami finally arrive in Japan and join Shiroe and all her old teammates from DBT
:)

Episode 20

"I don't always cast spells, but when I do it's
WORLD CLASS
spells." Then they hit us with this :

Wait a second. Is Krusty or Crusty canon? I always call him Krusty.

Also Reynessia or Lenessia?

I dunno, but I prefer "Crusty", since the alternative is the clown from The Simpsons.

"Lenessia", I think, sounds better, since it's a more standard approximation of a Euro-sounding name into Japanese.

For legal reasons it is Crusty.

From the LH wiki:
According to the author, he was named 'Krusty' because he happened to have a figure of Krusty from The Simpsons next to his monitor

Sure I guess. But also
Rayneshia El-Arte Corwen

Wut. Both Reynessia and Lenessia looks better.

Edit: Oh dear. The Wiki has spoilers if you delve deep enough .
Lvl 93 Human female cleric named [Tetra], subclass [Cleric], guild [Log Horizon], seems to have transferred from [Light Indigo]. Since LN vol 8 isn't out yet, she appears in the untranslated vol 7. Shiroe seems to have leveled up to 93 and Naotsugu to 94. Akatsuki is not mentioned.

Interestingly enough, Naotsugu has only gained 1455 hp by leveling up 4 times, whereas Shiroe has gained 2859 hp with only 3 levels. Is this an indication that character stats like hp are slowly normalising, instead of being strictly dependent on character class?

Also overskills everywhere.
