I'm glad to hear that a new game has been announced. I had the pleasure of finishing Bloodstained Ritual of the Night in March this year, a wonderful game.

This art style sucks. Better than the last in some ways, worse in others. I don't know how, in the nearly 30 years since SOTN, we've so completely disregarded 2D game visual quality.

Haven't played the first one but have been very tempted to get it, seems like everyone liked it and it's my type of games, this one convinced me to do so after spending some time with the Switch 2 and burning some hype

Still a year or so out. Hyped and I am liking the direction it's going. Hopefully they can improve the art style.
Also... this isn't Bloodstained 2, is it?

I am surprised that Miriam is not the main character again but I guess she will show up.

I also hope they release another surprise 8-bit Bloodstained game.

The first 2.5D Bloodstained was good, but the best one was the NES-style game, Curse of the Moon. I hope they surprise us with a sequel to that as well.

First one was ok, this looks like more of the same. Nothing too exciting but I'll probably pick it up down the line.
Visually it looks a bit better than the first one but I still find the overall look kinda ugly (more so the animations and characters than the backgrounds). I hope there's an option (or mod) to disable the black outlines around characters.

Looks like Bloodstained but moving even closer to Castlevania. Will definitely get it. Art style is not aging well at all though. Oof.

Poor art direction and visual fidelity.

The last one was even worse on those fronts though and I still enjoyed it and finished it.

Something felt off about the gameplay to me as well, combined with the visuals put it a step down from Castlevania. It was kind of stiff and sluggish, not nearly as fluid as the DS Castlevanias and other recent metroidvanias. Still a solid game but didn't quite scratch that itch, hopefully they will improve on it.

Yeah, both mainline Bloodstained games are really ugly. It's crazy to think they delayed the game, brought in WayForward to fix and polish the graphics, and somehow the end result was still not great. The original graphics were so much worse, though.

I hope this means more Classicvania spinoffs. I played the Curse of the Moon 1 and 2 and these are great.

Both variants are embarrassingly far from the concept art in the Kickstarter:

Hopefully this time, they at least resist the urge to plaster a bunch of random backers' portraits on every wall in the game.

Goddamn.

The first two things I watched were this trailer and the FF Tactics Re-CRAPster trailer.
Disappointed by two games that should have been easy home runs for me.

Agreed fully. I was part of the Kickstarter and was pretty disappointed with the end product, even though it still turned out OK. It could have been so much better, especially considering that they are the highest funded video game Kickstarter to this day.

How does it still looks so terrible . The artstyle is so jarring between the character model and the environment . If you're doing 2.5D , the benchmark should be at least like Ghost Song or Ori , or if you can't at least do that , stay 2D like Blasphemous or Death Gambit .

For the people who made Castlevania , they are really behind . It has also lost most of the charm from CV , CV bosses and enemies design used to be interesting , each of them . Now they look generic

There's no Kickstarter and no stretch goals, so you can rest easy.

I still thought the final game was pretty good! Not sure I'd take anything from the concept art other than maybe the color palette though.

Noticeably ugly and the gameplay somehow looks more janky than the original game. Really wish they wouldn't do the 2.5D if they can't make it look good. Not loving this co-op or multiple characters thing either.

And I'm saying this as someone that loved the first Bloodstained and the NES-esque games.

Well have I got some news for you...

yeah I hope they do another one like that this time around as well,I also prefered the Curse of the Moon series compared to the 2.5D Bloodstained

Doh! I meant a threequel!

(I completely forgot about the sequel, which I loved! I'm overdue for a replay…)

Im excited. First one was a little clunky but overall i loved it. day one if its 30 bucks or under. visuals are an improvement for me, still a bit messy and missing an aesthetic hook tho.
