Have you not watched anything else in your life? I just do not understand how anyone thought the season opener was at all uncomfortable. Who is gareth?this show has never made me feel uneasy but that throat cutting was quite uncomfortable to watch. not sure if they're stepping up their gore game or its specifically something to do with a knife slicing open a throat
That was the most unsettling part of the premiere for me and I'm not a father. And as a father I found the scene with Judith's life being threatened really uncomfortable.

Creepy dude threatening to snap a baby girl's neck was more chilling to me than a bunch of anonymous redshirts being lined up to get a bat to the skull and their throats slit open.
Battlestar galactica did.I wasn't that 'impressed' by it. A cable(?) show isn't gonna show a baby getting her neck snapped, there was no real threat for me.
Actually it was Ty who found and save Judith, but I get what you are saying. Not sure if this point got raised last week in all of the hooplah but I just picked up on one clear point of contention between Rick and Carol now that the gang is all back together.
In Season 2, Carol pleaded with Rick to go bring her daughter back to her, he said he would, he left the group to find her only to return empty-handed, Carol's daughter wound up undead and Rick had to put a bullet in her skull.

In Seasons 4-5, Rick banished Carol from the group, lost his daughter believing her to be dead only for Carol to return to rescue Rick from sure death AND she returned HIS daughter to him alive and well without being asked at all.

BOTH resolution episodes were written by Scott Gimple.
It's going to be fascinating to see how they interact with one another now that Carol has succeeded at doing the one thing Rick spectacularly failed at.

Thought the same thing. Might not show it but they could've audio'd the snap.Battlestar galactica did.
Me too.

There's a Spoiler thread here

For the comic book crowd, how does Rick and Co. escape from the baseball bat to the head in the comics? I want to ask this in the spoiler thread but I don't want to get spoiled on other stuff.

So this whole "compound of cannibals who were wronged earlier now lure in unsuspecting travelers/food" never happened in comics?
Just finished Season 4... that last line would have been awesome with an F bomb. I mean damn, "screwed"?
In the comics there was a small cannibal group called 'the hunters' that preyed on other small groups. They become desperate and target Rick's group. They certainly weren't good though, they ate their own children in the comic. They also didn't have some organized command center with radio going out.

I watched it for the first time on Bluray, and got the f-bomb. I marked out a little. Great moment.Just finished Season 4... that last line would have been awesome with an F bomb. I mean damn, "screwed"?

they filmed a F-bomb version. I believe it's on the blu-ray.
But gutting people is alright.
What the
Strangers
Rick leads a risky mission for a possible small reward when the supplies run low and the group's mistrust of people grows.

Same here about Judith.Yep humans being lined up and slaughtered like cattle isn't at all disturbing.
And as a father I found the scene with Judith's life being threatened really uncomfortable.
Yeah wth. He got bitched out of the room. I mean its nice he went full limitbreak on the zombies and came back for the guy but it pretty much would have been for naught if the guy didnt decide to wait. The part that really disturbed me about it was that Tyrese didn't blow his head off immediately.
Yeah I hope, that would send Rick back into full fledged mopey mode.If they didn't kill Judith off when the prison fell, they sure as hell aren't going to do it now.
so will we get the usual tedium where nothing really happens until mid season finale starting tonight?

And he finally seems cool again

Probably
I dont have much experience with tv shows aside from sitcoms....
...but it seems it works this way to all of em, right? The pilot/first episode every season is a blow out, full of action, interesting things, production values and the works
Then the rest of the season drags itself until the explosive season finale.
Is it always like this?
How many hours until Episode 2? UK here, not sure what time it shows on American soil.

Hmm True, konka-chan.Rick already thought she was dead BG.
About 3-4ish.
It's pretty much never like that. For any show.
maybe in season 2.(at least The Walking Dead feels like that, a lot)
