007 First Light State of Play announced for September 3 at 11am PT / 7pm BST / 8pm CEST

Well, the early descriptions implies it might be closer to recent Hitman game with its open-ended structure to fulfill the goals within each level, but will incorporate much more action segments like car chases, more dynamic combat, etc. So question remains what will be the balance of those segments and how much freedom players will actually have
If it's something meaty then I'm in for sure

This looks like Hitman DLC. Pass.

And James looks like a bich
Can you share the 2025 release schedule in the timeline you're living in? I just want to fawn over it. Must be jam packed if this trailer can be dismissed in such a manner. Don't hold back either, I want to know all the good stuff we're not getting in this timeline.

Well yeah, it's based on the Hitman engine, but that's a good thing. That assures us very granular control and world-class ballistics feedback.
Ok, that's an interesting observation. I'm a big fan of the Hitman games, but always wondered why the Hitman games (mostly the animations) feel/look so stiff. I thought it was budget related. But then again, the naughty dog and fromsoft games have fantastic animations/animation blending and feel granular and precise at the same time. I guess you could argue that Hitman games are more complex in what you can and can't do within their simulated world. Thanks for that interesting insight.

Yotei look underwhelming to say the least, so every decent game sony is gonna show in a temporal window close to yotei si gonna look better by default.

I was throwing some shades :messenger_pensive:
Ok, I got you now. Sometimes it's hard to understand what you're saying because English isn't your first language.

I 'memmer when they 1st showed it earlier this year, feeling "meh" about it, but upon a second viewing of the trailer yesterday, I've had some time to process and I think it looks really fun and great and, I mean, come on, it's fucking IOI developing this. It's almost impossible for them to fuck this up. I'm hyped.

Lads I've got some bad news. It looks like AI designed the most generic chap it could muster.

He better be bashing baddies and smashing Pussy Galore in the first cutscene or this one is going in the bin, innit?

To some extent, yeah. Still felt pretty pointless and disjointed. I honestly don't remember a single character I encountered via mission stories. The narrative was all window dressing. So unless the gameplay completely hooked you, you get burnt out after a while.

I think a Bond universe could fix that if married with the right amount of their level design. Hopefully they don't go too linear and keep some of their DNA.

Yea the mission stories help provide direction in the sandbox but don't help really with the narration. I've been replaying Hitman WOA now and yea I agree that narrative isn't really there beyond the bare minimum but I kind of like that about the game. They get the point quickly and drop you into your mission with a goal and a reason for it. After a Metaphor which is all about the narrative this was a nice change. With Shinobi mixed in as well.

I'm more or less looking for the same thing you are when it comes to 007. My only concern is the gun combat and if they can pull it off to make it feel good.

If it was as smooth and light as Uncharted, there would be a lot of frustrating moments. Sometimes you can spend an hour setting up a kill, and the stiffness and granularity are your protectors at this point. Let's see if IO can make the necessary corrections here.

Got any links? Though we just had that trailer a few months ago. Game looked alright, Hitman blended with more action set pieces? What's not to like?

Maybe I made that last bit up, and im thinking of a different game?

Edit:: Nope that's exactly what it looks to be. Looks good, not seeing the hate.

Very strong Splinter Cell: Conviction vibes from the gameplay in that trailer.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of the game but I don't understand why artistically they decided to put that big ass scar on his face? Why would young James Bond have that and yet no incarnation of old Bond ever has?

Also Amazon's involvement make me nervous. Hopefully this is all IGI and they're just bringing the cheque book.

If anyone can fuck 007 its Amazon.

It's a very obscure detail which ties to Ian Fleming's novels, vertical scar on his right cheek was one of the distinctive features of his Bond

It didn't happen with Fallout, so there's hope.
You throw enough shit at the wall some of it is bound to stick.

I enjoyed Clarksons Farm, Fallout and the Terminal list was decent. The Boys also but I don't think they make that. Everything else is terrible.

That Lord of the Rings show, Jesus I almost assaulted the Amazon delivery man after a couple of episodes I felt that violated.

My biggest worry about this game is this will also be made a fucking online FOMO experience crap with weekly rewards, limited-time events and all the wonderful magic world of game as a service modern experience like Hitman 3 was.

Really interested to see this gameplay. I'm a big IP fan, it's a pretty high-tier developer, and there's already a Switch 2 version confirmed. All good signs to being something I'll want to check out.

Honestly I'm glad to not have much to play if it means not wasting my time with games like this. I'll wait to see the State of Play before completely dismissing it. If they can give the AI actual brains in the stealth sections I will eat my hat.

"What was that?......huh, must be nothing"

*Bond hides behind a cabinet after being found* "Damn! We lost him!"
