For me she is the evil mastermind, because she killed Asakura :/
Nagato breaks the series completely, she's the closest thing to a character as she's the only one that shows any character progression but everything about her gets called into question since she basically knows the future.

Maybe she doesn't exist at all?!

They managed to cram in both mono no aware reactions into a town festival episode. Amazing!

But then you'd need to buy the other volumes.

Not really. I'd do it for collection purposes.

I actually looked it up. That pic is either a lie or it immediately sold out because the exact same item is 3,867 JPY right now.

EDIT: LOL 3990 now and out of stock. Rabid otaku.

Seriously though, I'd buy a LE volume for 900 for this series. I mean, Fractale's first 2 eps is actually the high point of the series so I'd be getting the good stuff.

Could have been some kind of daily deal too or does Amazon.jp not do those?

It's not her existence called into question, it's everyone else's. Kyon doesn't influence Haruhi, Nagato influences Kyon who influences Haruhi. Kyon has nothing. His existence is allowed because Nagato wills it, Haruhi's existence is because Nagato wills it, Nagato already knows the future and can take Haruhi's powers and even if she doesn't directly influence Nagato she has Kyon to do it for her. She's not the secret main character she's likely the only character, can any of the others even be real at that point? Or is this the "if God is almighty can he create a rock that he himself can not move" type crap? Regardless, the author really wrote himself into a corner with Nagato to the point it's not even worth speculating about now, it's all broken.

Lol, the first two eps are what made me bail out!

Let's just assume they're all dead. It's the popular solution to these problems.

Nah, it was most likely a price break that sold out instantly.

Fractale eps 1-2 were interesting. It was when they introduced death murder and grimdark that it all went to hell. Also, 2 magical girlfriends wtf.

Interesting? I couldn't get past the second episode, I got further in Strike Witches than I did Fractale, I can't say I find that interesting. The director probably bought them all, he was tired of hearing people how many Fractales did something sell.

It's actually a prequel to Lost!
It's really a vision that John Smith, from the Dead Zone, has while touching a Buddha statue while on Holiday in Japan.

It's also why I think Nagato is the secret main character of the show.
Someday in the Rain was a lot smarter (and more efficient: one episode) in making Nagato the secret main character though...

It may seem sexist in a way but it's also the theme of the show so far. Yarizui is the upperclassman and the current leader of the group, Sato is the underclassman and the newbie so it is her place to enable him and allow him to grow as a wolf. Second, we've just come off several episodes dealing with just this. The Wizard was likely her mentor, he likely enabled and trained her in much the same way she is doing now that was just all off screen. Notice how he's gone now as a third year? Now switch over to Matsy and the Monarch's side. Again, Matsy is now retired, Monarch is now pack leader and this time there didn't seem to be a clear succession and problems arose from it. I think it's clear from how the show handles those who retire as wolves departure from the scene and the effects it has on those left behind is that this show's eventual end is clearly going to be that Yarizui is not just raising Sato as a wolf for fun, or because she likes him(although maybe she does) or just because she needs three members to keep her club going it's that Sato is obviously going to succeed her, she is training her successor just as her predecessor had done before her. The Wizard? Gone. The Monarch Butterfly? Gone. And so to will the Ice Witch at some point. What I think you should take from this is that things that appear to be sexist are not always sexist. It might have been for sexist reasons that the author decided to make Sato the MC and revolve it around him as opposed to the other way around but the universe itself is not sexist as the generation before in his school the lead was a male training a female. You want to find sexism or something to be disappointed about there, I can't stop you but I think you're wrong if you do so.

That's the impression I get as well. Once it became clear in Episode 01 that Sato was not going to run away from the Bento fighting, she decided that she'd take him (and Oshiroi) under her wing and train them (though Sato moreso) to succeed her. She spends a lot of time explaining everything to them, and was even waiting for them in the club room after their excursions to be there for them if they succeeded. I'm sure it's likely they'll go toward a "she likes him" route eventually, but for now I'm liking this relationship of a mother wolf raising her new cub.

It was the combination of ALL these elements that made Fractale so damn disappointing. If the show had been:

i) Whimsical fantasy adventures with the annoying short magical girlfriend in a vaguely iyashikei way

OR

ii) Escaflowne-esque high fantasy with some interesting concepts and the grimdark stuff dealt with properly

It might have been more successful. But the show had such terrible mood swings... I'm still really disappointed with how Fractale turned out as it sounded and looked so promising beforehand :(

Weird choice for Character Designer. it will be his first credit in that role.

Nah, he did character designs for the supporting cast in Surveillance, and also the character designs in the Street Fight Alpha OVA which he also directed.

Hey, so remember the (double-billed with HnG) Negima film that everyone agreed was so half-assed that even Ken Akamatsu was disappointed by it?
Negima manga creator Ken Akamatsu reported on Wednesday that the Mahō Sensei Negima! Anime Final film has been extended to about 84 minutes, or about 40 minutes longer, for the DVD bundled with the 37th manga volume on February 17. He added with a laugh that the dialogue has been revised so that the characters' intelligence would be raised a little bit.

Akamatsu then noted that the "Negima Movie: Supervisor Ken Akamatsu's Cut" will be officially announced on Thursday, the same day that the 36th manga volume ships with footage from the making of the film.
Negima Film's Length Nearly Doubled for Manga-Bundled DVD

Why is everyone "DISLIKING" on this ep? I liked it
That feel when the guy spends his whole life studying, sacrificing social life and reputation only to be number 2 to a popular non nerd, feels it's a waste
That feel when Taichi get's over his Arata inferiority complex and realizes he can be a legitimate training partner with Chihaya, stops lying to himself saying it's ok if he loses
That feel when Nerd sees what Taichi is doing mirrors his own academic efforts, being upstaged by someone else who's 'naturally better', yet persevering anyway due to love of the game (in his case studies)

Hate is a strong word, it just doesn't meet the standard the show has set itself from previous episodes.

Doesn't make it awful by any means, we have other shows for that.

Chihayafuru 7

I hope there's more to history girl than to be the person who operates the player and that even though the episode wasn't as great as the previous ones, it was still enjoyable and that I hope Taichi can stop comparing himself to Arata.
Bah! As long he's crazy for Chihaya he'll always compare himself to Arata!! =(

What's the equivalent term for something halfway between shounen and seinen?

There's a language problem here. There's shounen, seinen, and seinen. In Japanese it looks like this:

少年 - Shounen - Boys
青年 - Seinen - Youths
成年 - Seinen - Adults

So what's halfway between manga for boys, and manga for adults, is manga for youths. Unfortunately, this doesn't quite translate well if you're using Japanese terms in English. :p

Holy crap those boobs look like they've been attatched to her chest.

Depending on how far they get in the manga story, this will probably come up a lot I imagine.

Wouldn't seishōnen (青少年) fit that bill? I think it is a broader term, but if people want to use something for that...

I'm not an expert, in fact I don't know practically anything from the language in question... don't hit me!

But we're talking about manga demographics here. Generally though, the term seinen is more commonly used for youths, rather than adults. For adult titles, they usually use the term seijin. Of course this also largely refers to well... porn mostly.

Mirai Nikki 1: I was promised a yandere and I got generic wish fulfilment animu wherein a completely unremarkable loner loser boy (you know, every anime protagonist ever) is, with no effort on his own part and for no particular raisin, handed special powers and a hot, quite possibly crazy popular girl with a sudden obsession for him. What a lazy premise. But, as long as it is on hulu+ and will stream to my tv, I guess I'll keep watching for the promise of murder and mayhem.
Why waste your time on that tripe when you can watch more Fate/Zero instead?!

It is likely that at 907yen, you can resell it in the future and make a profit.
Do people scam online deals in Japan like they do in the US at Slickdeals?
