I was joking :P

I like the "awesome super high resolution pc screenshot thread." Nice name.

Also nice to go back and time and see all the fussing about rules and such :) Wish I knew about all the super awesome image quality techniques back in 2011 when I had absolutely crappy hardware incapable of using it so I could be blown away :) Now it's just kinda.... standard. The bullshots thread not getting much love these days... but I see why. You can find fantastic image quality and good composition on every page here.
I think the bullshot thread's influence bled so much over to here that it has become redundant. Which is awesome.

That wasn't the case when the bullshot thread was created and years past, though, that's for sure.

This game has some pretty great textures and IMO is much better looking than LP2(Even DX11, who's improvements were not that great other than the better shadow filtering sample count. The DX11 motion blur was poorly implemented, there are artifacts on the sides of the screen that don't exist in DX9. And the computer water was really silly looking. PC version also used GFWL and for some reason had missing weather effects that were present in the console versions)

I just love the environment design in this. Makes me think of what Darksiders would look like if it had a more realistic art style. Also if you guys are getting sick of these let me know, I'm probably getting a bit spammy.

Very nice triple portrait shots ! ,Also i think it's 8K , since the ingame 4SSAA is basically 2x2 OGSSAA ;)

I thought SSAA was literally double the Res? Which would mean 2x4=8 and 2x2x4=16... Or am I wrong? I really don't understand it all.

Either way, I dare you to try and find aliasing. Also, I tried SWRE, but TR 2013 has no ini file, most settings are stored in the Registry, and even those don't include windowed mode. The settings window allows you to choose up to 1080p, but no higher, and I think those might be modifiable, but have no clue where to look...

Also, does anyone know if there is cheat-engine for TR?

Yeah, I think, for myself, it's sometimes hard to pick a single shot.

It's less stressful posting a few great ones. When I get a really great one, I usually post there.... Usually...

2X SSAA is double the pixels. Using 1920x1080 as an example...

2X SSAA = 2688x1512
3X SSAA = 3264x1836
4X SSAA = 3840x2160

Also, does anyone know if there is cheat-engine for TR?
Cheat Engine works on every game. The trick is learning how to use it to reverse engineer a game and get what you want.

I was unable to find any useful camera parameters to modify, sadly. There is definitely free camera functionality, but only the mighty DeadEndThrills was allowed to use it. Seems to be the only way to take really good screenshots outside of cut scenes, sadly.

Ah, so it IS 8K, good to know.

Also, now I have another reason to be envious of that guy.

Yeah. I'd kill to see the game the way he gets to.

As it is, not worth playing for me. Didn't find the gameplay too enthralling.

It's the opposite for me, I can't completely disagree with those who dislike the game, but Tomb Raider 2013 is GOTY for me so far this year. I've beaten it so many times and cannot for the life of me get tired of it.

I'd sacrifice so many lambs, work so many street corners, kiss so many feet, to have that free cam.

These things should be more feasibly accessible by those who would do them justice.

2X SSAA is double the pixels. Using 1920x1080 as an example...

2X SSAA = 2688x1512
3X SSAA = 3264x1836
4X SSAA = 3840x2160

Yes this is correct for the most part.

The amount of SSAA unless being denoted in YxY is the amount in pixels over the base resolution. (So 4x is 4 times as much resolution)
But also with YxY, you multiply those two numbers to get the amount of SSAA.
1.5x1.5=2xSSAA(2.25)
2x2=4xSSAA
3x3=9xSSAA
4x4=16xSSAA

So when someone says "Oh i'm using 2xSSAA in insert game here" usually that means 2.25xSSAA which is 1.5x1.5 the display resolution

So if you played at 1280x720 with 2xSSAA(2.25x), the game is rendering at 1920x1080 before downsampling.

If at 1920x1080 then 2xSSAA would be 2880x1620 (2688x1512 is 1.96x resolution.)
(Most games with a 2xSSAA option actually do 2.25x because there is no multiple of both width and height that will give you exactly 2x resolution. Only 1x2 or 2x1 to get exactly 2X resolution)

Has there been any HIGH RES

FFXIV pictures yet, I can't find any

These aren't much since I don't have the money to pay for a sub yet (Was a player for a long time in 1.0)
(Downsampled with FXAA from 3200x1800 to 1600x900 and cropped to remove UI elements with my two characters from 1.0 brought to 2.0)

Downsampling actually looks really great in this just like it did in 1.0. But it's too bad UI scales with resolution. Making it unplayable.

Here's what my characters looked like in 1.0 for comparison (Old old screenshots that I could find)

Sadly, the same tiledshot command that removes the vignette from Mass Effect 3 does not work for this game. You can still see the vignette repeated.

Why the BALLS do devs use vignette? Uuuuuuuugh.

It looks good during gameplay I guess.

Do you HAVE to tileshot it? :p

You could just just run it at 4k and then force an obscene amount of AA like 8xSGSSAA or 4x4 OGSSAA and then downsample that to 1080p

You can force SGSSAA in Brothers with the flag 0x080000C1

game looks amazing I think.

Tiledshot isn't for AA (well it is but that's not why I'm using it). The Debug Camera is the only way to get a working free camera for this game, and tiledshot is the only way to remove the debug camera info from the top left corner.

Anyways, I've found a way to remove the vignette. Quick capture before bed:

Not sure if I'm digging the 3D elements, think the dragon just looked a bit cheap.

Yeah, the aliasing on the dragons is horrible when playing at native res.

Everything in that shot is beautiful except for that damn tree.

Here are the two most uninteresting Grim Dawn screenshots I could muster (1680x1050, 8x AF and 8x MSAA):

That, and grain filters are two effects I will never understand. They don't look good, in any situation, ever.

I disagree. Grain gives is a filmic look as if it was filmed on old analog film.

If they are going for a cinematic look and feel. When done right, it looks great IMO. (Left 4 Dead,other games I can't recall atm)

When it's done poorly or of poor quality (Or in the Case of Remember Me, Digital noise/grain? YUCK. That stuff just looks awful) it can look terrible.

At least they aren't as offensive looking as Chromatic Aberration.

Photographer: I think I'm going to pay $20,000 on this lens to get rid of chromatic aberration in my photos.

Game developer: Let's add chromatic aberration!

This game has a wonderful art style that's almost single-handedly undone by the trees in that first area. I wasn't paying attention to too much and was just getting a quick capture to show the vignette workaround. I'll get some better shots when I'm not drooling over my keyboard at 3am longing for sleep...

I wish I still had time for gaming these days... :(

I don't think games are made to emulate the best, most perfect lenses. People often complain about CA, but its just in its infancy and overused and implemented improperly. Its not much different than when bloom first became a thing. Now alot of games have beautifully deft use of bloom. CA does not mean shifting everything in the entire image apart in different channels, it is an effect present in certain lighting conditions / lens effects. When games can more accurately model this, people will be less disgusted by the appearance, and further immersed in something 'cinematic'.

I quite like these. It would seem you picked up the 'camera nudge before pause' technique as well, eh? MW is so fun to screenshot.

I am just about done dialing in my SFX settings if you're interested.
