Man downsampling SD on extreme grapic settings is plain murder on your card !

5-10 FPS (cry)

but i did manage to catch some nice combat shots.

Whoa, those yours? Happen to have a mod list for that?

I really need to get started on Skyrim. Looking at the 10000 mods that are floating around is quite discouraging though.

I wouldn't embed screenshots that weren't mine ;) I'd just link to someone's gallery. Here was my mod list around the time of those screenshots. Of course, that doesn't include K ENB. Not sure if you can still get the build of K ENB I was using, as it's quite old. But I liked it and never bothered to update it. He ships it with about 20 optional depth of field variants. I was using a tilt-shift with the quality cranked up to max.

100% JPEGs are just as good as PNGs to the naked eye... get over it brocookie.

I know that and have used 100% jpegs in the past, but his clearly looked compressed. I figured it easier to just tell him "drop the JPEGs" than "save those JPEGs as 100% quality files in an image editing program which supports such a feature!"

silent hill games alwayS look like they came a generation too early .

ONce you put some decent AA on it and up the resolution they truly look like early current gen games.

EDIT: i miss TEAM SILENT. :(

That's a bit hyperbolic, but they do definitely seem to outshine other stuff that came out near them.

I think once the full deal comes out it could be pretty close to photorealistic, but it's got a ways to go.
This was the maximum settings, I'm disappointed in the draw distance.
The textures are all very good up close. It's like the complete opposite of almost every other game.

That foliage is so far away from looking realistic it aint funny. Distant terrain textures need a ton of work too. I think Arma's visuals are wildly overstated. Just comes off looking bland to me... though that could just be the location.

Yup, ArmA III has some amazing lighting that can quickly make a scene look very real. Not sure I'd agree with photorealistic as there's always 15 other things dragging down the visuals in each scene. However for the size and scope of the game, visually it's impressive and shits on a lot of other titles.

BIS really impressed and surprised me.

What I'm talking about with photorealism is DEFINITELY in motion, I wasn't able to capture anything very impressive in a single shot. A very solid implementation of motion blur and good lighting is what does it. Plays tricks on your eyes, but it sure looks good.

Oh I agree, the game looks stunning in motion and it's just hard to capture that magic in screenshots. Definitely something you have to experience on your own. Also as I mentioned, you get even more impressed when you consider size / scope of the game.

jujubeads, does NOLF2 allow for widescreen resolutions without any problems? Haven't tried the game(s) yet.

this thread has some good info getting it to run in higher resolutions and proper widescreen: http://sficlan.net/Unityhq/forums/forums/index.php?showtopic=2372

im using a mod/launcher that automates the process: http://sficlan.net/Unityhq/forums/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=55 (you need to reg and post to gain access so here's a dropbox link in case you don't want to bother: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4drfoeee5go6m77/2d7KcaTbj9/NOLF2_ExeMods_1.0.exe )

no major problems that ive noticed so far. there's a minor issue with some text being cut off, but it's not really a big deal -- everything is still legible except for the "quit" item in the main menu.

oh, and the game crashes if i try to downsample :(

I really like looking at this screen. Dunno why, but it more than the others has me itching to buy into the alpha. Damn you.

I don't even know how to play it, even though I have years of military training and combat experience, but it's fun to walk around in the editor. :)

I'm afraid if I jump in it's going to be like a MOBA where all my teammates start yelling at me for not knowing what to do properly and I get them all killed. Which, honestly, is exactly what will happen in my first game.

Find a small squad / clan and do some 'serious' co-op events. Most ArmA players I've known are really nice and super patient and ArmA shines like a massive star when played like that. All that Wasteland and other random public crap will never come close to giving you that insane sensation that a private match will.

I just play with my little brother its amazing with just the two of us I can't think what it would be like with a proper squad :P He's is always a sniper and I am squad leader. Its fun coordinating attacks and when they go to plan I can't think of anything better in gaming.

Thank you so much. Once I get a copy (either old or digital), I'll use the downloaded mod.

Seriously? There's no AA and it's only 1440p (my rig can't handle more if I want a smooth experience) - I thought they were terrible to what you guys (or other regulars) are known for posting. But thanks a lot for the compliments :)

The lesson here, I suppose, is 1440p no AA > 1080p FXAA.

To no one's surprise.

Awesome, gonna check those out, cheers :)

When I was messing around with JC2 a few days ago, I was remarkably impressed by how well the engine holds up. That game is a real credit to the developers, they did some serious work.

JC3 is going to be huge.

Only thing that really annoys me are the 2D leafs which always face your direction. It's hardly noticeable while moving around, but if you stand still and look around it's really jarring.
