2013 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Let the JPEG Die Already

The game keeps crashing when I get out to the surface for the first time. I am not happy.

Not the best shots and just at 1920 x 1080 as I took them while steaming. Amazing looking game, although they heavily reduced the complexity of the smoke effects which is a shame. Every setting is at max, with the exception of SMAA which is off.

I was referring specifically to the Endor DLC for TFU2. Finding the Hoth DLC is painfully obvious since it's listed right next to the rest of it in the menu.

Ah, must've misread your post, my bad. I've played Hoth in so many incarnations I almost forgot I played it in TFU last week, blended right into my mind's memory somehow...

I actually only just recently found how to access the DLC after I beat the games when they were on sale last year and subsequently moving on without looking for the DLC.

It was fun for the while, but Frostbite 3 Star Wars hype for me is rising thanks to replaying TFU1/2.

Yeah, like a lot of not-so-screenshotable games :P

I'm just surprised it's this bad, for a Metro game.

Am I missing all the amazing screenshots of Metro 2033 that are causing anyone to be surprised by this? I didn't' find that to be a very screenshottable game either, even with a semi-functioning no-clip. The environments, while technically impressive, aren't very.... aesthetically pleasing. If that makes sense.

I'm going to try and hack in a way to fly around in this game as well to see if that helps.

Seen lots of beautiful, atmospheric Metro 2033 shots.

However the smoke / smog effect is awful in LL and it seems to lack clarity as well, looks smudged.

I love you Lime, those Valkyrie Profile shots are fucking sweeeeeeeet. I've only played the very first VP and it's one of my favorite PS1 RPGs, I should play the second if it looks that good for a PS2 game.

And Last Light looks okay. Extremely disappointing.

I was going to make this a bullshot but it seems that removing the HUD was patched out of the game a while ago :(

In Shadow of Chernobyl with Complete mod removing the HUD is as simple as the Minus key on the numpad, is this not the case with Clear Sky? I can't imagine why it would be all that different or more difficult.

As far as I'm aware the 'hud_info = off' console command works in all three STALKER games.

I remember I couldn't figure out a lot of stuff in Stalker Clear Sky, but I never researched it much. I made a panorama to remove HUD elements... but I only ever did 1 :)

I believe it's because the game uses FXAA and it can't be turned off.

Yeah they are using a custom AA which is apparently FXAA derived but there's just something else about the IQ, like this soft slightly smeared look which seems a bit excessive for just FXAA. Might be their custom solution or it's an art decision, I don't know.

Either way it's god awful.

Here's my sad attempt at powering through the FXAA with ... Lumasharpen. I'm so ashamed.

Don't judge me.

Not sure what there is to be ashamed about. That's why LumaSharpen was added. I just think that silly folks cranking it up way too far for no reason give it a bad rap.

But it's doing what it's supposed to to - countering blurry AA and allowing textures to shine.

Am I to assume that's 4K w/ 4x SSAA, or are you being merciful to your cards?

Might have to check out RE6. Should have picked it up during some of the recent sales. Is the gameplay/story good?

Here's some outtakes of the Skywalker fight on Hoth.

Harlem Shuffle...Jedi style!

Darth Maul always does his research before each mission. That's how he knew that Skywalker's Achilles heel was Jazz hands!

I think I probably hate Resident Evil 6 about the most of anyone on NeoGAF. I think it's a disgusting abomination of a game that is miserable to play and fairly miserable to look at and getting respectable screenshots requires a lot of effort to hide ugly stretched textures.

Jim Sterling had the right idea with that 4/10.

I'm playing the game only for screenshots and it's a fairly quick moving process. Infinite health, infinite ammo, all weapons, Amateur difficulty for the QTE assitance and all.

I finished Leon and Chris' campaigns on the 360 last year, hated them both. Miserable existence. I just finished Ada's campaign on PC yesterday for the first time and it was the best of all of them, only because Ada is an awesome character. It's extremely short and reuses assets from the other 3 main campaigns, including entire boss fights. Lame as fuck.

I'm halfway through Leon's campaign only for screenshots and it's just the epitome of awful game design in every way possible, I'm being reminded. I will go through and play Chris and Wesker's campaigns for screenshots, only because it's so painless with the trainer.

The Mercs mode is the sole redeeming aspect, it is a HELL OF A LOT OF FUN! Campaign is detestable garbage.

Easily the second worst AAA game of 2012, after Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

If you can avoid the rampant stretched low-rez textures I think the game is rather photogenic, though.

Whoa tell us how you really feel! I recall reading that RE6 was much larger than RE5 and thus the graphics had to be tweaked to fit it all on one 360 disc. I'm sure the PC port carried on some of that, but your shots make the game look really great and from what I've played on the PC myself it looks pretty nice IMO. Don't agree with all the negativity though. I played Co-op through the entire game with a friend and it was a blast. Co-op story campaigns always make for a fun time and the game gets a lot of credit just for incorporating that. My only knock is that the stages are too long (up to 1:30 minutes per stage if you're thorough).

Dunno why there is so much grain on those shots, i've even used bmp in FRAPS. Also freaking mod has auto-dof function and mess up sharpness of shots.

-edit-
Yep, there is no way of eliminating grain in this mod ;\, i've tried every command available. Only downsampling would help. Also there is no way to turn of dof.

Last Light is yet another example of a game you need to see yourself. I just deleted like all my screeshots I took because it doesn't do it any justice.

I appreciate your candor. I think I've give this one a miss for now, maybe pick it up if heavily discounted. After seeing all the Metro pictures in this thread recently (2033 and LL) I may just give 2033 another play through and see if newer drivers can crank anything more out of my aging 560Ti. Loved the stealthy bits.

Here's some more (I'm almost done with this I promise) from the FU1 Hoth DLC.

Training droid.
