2013 Major League Soccer |OT| Pick your side, it's time for War

Good to see my namesake get a goal but TFC didn't deserve shit for that game

That's for sure. That was the worst match that TFC has played all year and that includes road games.
Having said that, if TFC has the means to steal a point at the end, then it's very frustrating that they didn't just get the shit done and not concede another goal so late in the game.

San Diego? Or just give the team to Orlando or the second NY one.

The MLS definitely wants Orlando City, it's just a matter of whether the Florida state legislature gets off their ass and makes it happen. Here's a snippet from a recent "Call to Arms" that the OCSC president posted:

To help fund their portion of the stadium, the City of Orlando is seeking legislation from the State of Florida that would provide a sales tax rebate for the development. This funding is no different than what is currently available to all other major league sports teams in Florida.

There are only seven (now two) days left in the 2013 legislative session in Tallahassee, but legislation to give MLS equal standing with the other professional sports leagues is currently stalled in the Florida House of Representatives.

I saw that Rawlins and Buddy Dyer (mayor of Orlando) was at the Dynamo game this weekend. Orlando City have drawn over 9,000 for the last two home games (just under 9,600 last week). Chivas USA recently drew 9,700. Some additional info on the legislative issues that are holding Orlando City up: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/politics/os-orlando-soccer-stadium-20130428,0,1909889.story

Team should be called Empire City FC. MLS will likely expand to 22 or 24 teams in the future but it would be great if they came with soccer specific stadiums. D.C United and New England need to push for new venues.

That would be awkward for ESC then.

The faster they get this deal done the faster Red Bull is fucked and is either forced to sell the team or change the name.

Bring it on!

I dunno if this was on the TSN broadcast but on the MSG broadcast like a minute or two before the TFC goal they put up a graphic that said TFC has scored 3 goals in stoppage time and has condeded 4. Then TFC scores and I was like...could it be? Peggy gives that nice through ball to Henry, the cross goes up, and Timmy gets the brace.

At first I wanted to hate on TFC but you guys are like Metro 2.0

Yesterday the announcement came down that the KC Athletics would have to replay their US Open Cup "Win and You're In" qualifier against the Dearborn Stars because the Stars' protest of the result due to the field width had been upheld. Today, the Athletics officially withdrew from the competition because of the replay. There were a multitude of reasons why the Athletics could have chosen to drop out, expenditures with traveling 530 plus miles to Chicago, the 3 day notice for their players to take time off work, change social schedules, etc, or even out of spite because of the decision.

According to the Athletics General Manager/coach, Kyle Perkins though it was because of "Principal."

Accommodate another team's schedule so they don't have to forfeit, get your win protested by that team, have the commission not uphold any of your reasons about why the protest should be ruled against, then are told you have to readjust your player's schedules and everything else to play in three days or you're out of the tournament. Sad thing to see. Thanks for the sportsmanship, Dearborn.

USSF, classy as always.

I'm puzzled as to how a walk-off can be considered remotely accurate for a field measurement. Being in marching bands for ages, I could probably still do a reasonable 8 steps to 5 yards, but over time (even stopping and starting) I'd probably end up off by at least a couple yards wide, and 10+ length-wise.

How can you call yourself a professional (hahaha USSF) referee (and presumably one that tends to officiate matches in backwater areas with imperfect pitches) and not keep a tape measure with your gear?

One step closer.

http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/fla-senate-passes-bill-could-help-build-orlando-so/nXbzR/

ORLANDO, Fla. — In the push to bring Major League Soccer to central Florida, the state Senate passed a bill Monday that would open up funding to help build a new $100 million soccer stadium in Orlando.

Mayor Buddy Dyer urged legislators to act on the city's request to expand sales tax rebates, currently used for sports that include football and the NBA, to include soccer.

On the day that the NBA's Jason Collins came out as a gay man, ABC's Nightline aired an intense, intimate feature on the also-out Robbie Rogers. With the cameras rolling, Robbie visits his family in California for the first time since coming out.

You know, any sane person would stop following this team after this type of game, but I know I'll be watching the game on Saturday anyways.

*sigh*

Seriously though, this gave me all of the feels today.

RCTID.

Oh well, I rather lose by a landslide than by another goal in added time.

You called?

Oh, TFC. Fuck. That is pretty depressing. Now we don't even do well in the Canadian Championship which was the one area we succeeded in the previous seasons.
I'll still be watching every game obviously. *toronto sports fan*

Fucken allergies all up in here.
Did you watch the two videos I posted? It's spring time for sure here in Portland.

P.S. Gameday. I'm headed to the game today. Hype as fuck. PTFC! You're going DOWN, NEW ENGLAND.

Yeah, saw those two. I think I'm allergic to my dog's dander or something.

So, I was on the Jumbotron and apparently I was also on TV. I almost got hit in the face with a soccer ball twice as well. How did we somehow just get a tie goddamnit!?!?

Silvestre is done. He tore his ACL. I wouldn't be surprised if his MLS career is over.

Another Portland defender hurt playing on turf...

For some great perspective on the Support's Shield, I would highly recommend visiting their website. It gives some good info about the Shield as it is today and the history write up is very nice.

http://supportersshield.org/

To accompany that, here's a quote from Sean Dane. He's head of the The Cauldron supporter's group for SKC and president of the Independent Support's Council, the creators of the Support's Shield.

Kansas City Cauldron said:
Starting tomorrow you can own a piece of the Supporters Shield. The ties to the Supporters Shield and the Cauldron go back to the very start and our own Sam Pierron. This group has played a crucial role in its history and the recent update. By purchasing an "I Support the Shield" scarf you are actively funding its creation and the foundation to support it for years to come. Get more information on the shield and its history here: http://supportersshield.org/

Obviously that was SKC and Cauldron focused, but it really could and does apply to all the various supporters and support's groups of MLS and the teams. This is everyone's award for the league.

The scarf is pictured below. Consider buying one and supporting the Shield, the foundation, and all the work the different supporters groups have done to make it a reality.

I was assuming this would happen since they just signed a new striker a little while ago.

http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/kamara-loan-ends-808356.aspx

Striker returns to Sporting Kansas City

NORWICH CITY can confirm that striker Kei Kamara's loan spell has ended and he will now return to Sporting Kansas City with immediate effect.

The Sierra Leone international arrived at Carrow Road at the end of the January transfer window and played 11 times in the Premier League for the Canaries, scoring once in the victory against Everton.

His final appearance came as a second-half substitute in this afternoon's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

The Club would like to place on record its thanks to Kei and wish him the very best for the future.

Apparently there was no contract tendered and he's on his way back to Sporting KC.

Should have been a handball against Seattle. They are lucky to be walking away with a point here.

I know Kei or any other player would love to play at the highest level and I wanted him to make it permanent but this is great for SKC. Sapong has been terrible out wide and Kei can slot in there.

He only had 1 goal in 11 games. And that was 7 starts. They just needed/expected more from him I imagine. At least he can say he scored a Premier League goal. I was hoping it would last longer for him but I'm happy to have him back here as well. A Kei start and then leaving Sapong for a late game offensive sub somewhere makes me smile. Plus Bunbury should be back up and starting to train...what, any time now? Then a month to get back to match fitness?

so many forwards once Bunbury heals . just need goals.

Surprised but happy for MLS that Kei is returning. Someone else will come calling for him again in the MLS off season. He'll go out again on a big loan.

Tim Cahill in beast mode. Glad to see NY on a run, good for the league.

I remember KC said Kamara had other potential suitors. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play in MLS for a little bit and get picked up by another foreign team over the summer.

Great day to Doop today.
Union were unlucky to not have equalized in the first half. MLS officials are horrible. IDK how he misses that handball in the box. It was a fun game and the crowd was great

13+-+1

For sure. Don't blame them at all.

Glad Sapong finally got a goal. I can't remember the last time we scored 4 in a game.
