Not sure why anyone would be surprised by this, Cameroon are one of the weaker teams to qualify out of Africa, and African teams don't do particularly well at the World Cup overall, with a few exceptions like Ghana 2010.

Ghana 2010 was a clusterfuck. Only got as far as they did because England shit the bed and let USA win the group.
