fucking amazing!

What's really striking about the footage is that it looks better than 24 has ever looked. It's more "film-ish" than it's ever been.

So much hype. Can't wait for this. I know may is right around the corner, but shitttt I want it to be released now. With it being only 12 episodes, means no filler, all action all story. Greatness is going to take place.

My personal opinion is that being able to film on location gives the show a huge boost in quality. I know they filmed some pieces of season 7 in D.C. on location, and I felt it really helped give the show some fresh life.

Season 8 I don't believe had any of the main cast film in New York which I felt made it look very little like New York and was a step back in film quality from season 7.

Of course this may just be in my head. I'm just really excited for the new setting.

Waiting for that moment where Heller goes "I will not be used as a pawn, Jack" and drives his Presidential limo off a cliff. And survives. Because Devane fucking rocks.

They did have a few scenes of Jack on the streets of NY but not a lot.

It's amazing how Jack Bauer is now an almost mythical figure, almost on the same level as James Bond.

Who would have expected that during Season 1 way back 13 years ago?

I just completed my marathon of all eight seasons for the first time. Those last few hours of season eight were awesome. Can't wait for this! Glad to hear they're moving to a twelve episode format too. Some of those filler plots.. especially in the early seasons.. god almighty, it took some willpower to keep watching those.

If I've never seen any 24, will this be a good place to start, or should I go back and watch the previous seasons?

you should really go back and watch the seasons from the start, just jump the season 6 and most of season 8 and you'll be fine...

Watch them from the start. Just bear this in mind:

- Season 1 is a slow burner. Also, Season 1 Jack is not the same as the Jack we see after - and Season 1 is the reason why.
- Season 2 is FUCKING INTENSE...with fucking stupid side-plots
- Season 3 is slow, but then picks up like a jet engine halfway through
- Season 4 is all over the place. Chaotic.
- Season 5 is the pinnacle of 24 and pretty much the best thing ever
- Season 6 is shit.
- Season 7 is a return to form with a fucking badass first half and a slightly slower second half
- Season 8 is S6 levels of shit until episode 16 or so where it suddenly turns into the most amazing thing you'll ever see

During Episode 3 of 24: Live Another Day, an EMP attack renders phones and computers unusable. Jack Bauer is forced to communicate via Royal Mail:

Chloe then is seen receiving his letter, which contains his true feelings for her, conveyed in words:

Bauer is then seen watching from around the corner, happy that Chloe may well be up for a date:

hope you guys dont mind these spoilers

I never liked that moment, it always felt slightly out of place. In hindsight it is perfectly natural but it struck me as tonally odd.

Not at all, IMO. He'd lost Terri and technically Kim too, spent a year with a death wish, depressed, got a sudden call from the fucking President stating he needed to go into CTU, discovered a nuke was going off within the day, and knew that the only way to get to Wald was to gain his trust.

I mean, he could have taken the whole body...but really, I dunno.

yep. throughout Season 1, Bauer played by the rules.

Season 2 was when it hit that maybe he was just a little bit psycho

and through all season 2 that subject is brought many times, especially when Jack meet Wallace and he say it was a shame Jack never join Coral Snakes, because he was natural born killer. You can see in that seem to upset him a little, but it's true he rarely express any remorse about the hundreds of people he killed...

Ive only seen seasons 1,2,3 and 7 (actually watched season 7 first due to roommate who loved the show). Watched 1 again last week and going through season 2 right now again.

Hoping this new season really does cut out all that bullshit filler lol

season 5-6-7 is when it becomes metal gear the series. Sadly season 6 doesnt hold up on on rewatches, the first 5 episodes are still great though.

I need to rewatch season 2 because only thing I remember from it is terrible kim so it kinda tarnished the whole thing for me.

If he's communicating via Royal Mail this season could end up being about 10 days long.
