3DS XL First Impressions/Previews

Dem asymmetric screens are a pain. Still they should have figured a way to work around this by now.

According to that games actually transfer and don't have to be redownloaded, which makes sense.
I did a transfer last December and had to re-download all my eshop and amabassador games.
It'd be really nice if that was changed.
You don't have to redownload anything after the transfer.
Then they fixed it. That's fantastic!
It was like that from the beggining actually.
I'm still really annoyed with this whole in-store issue I now have. If I want to trade in the 3DS for the XL, I don't have any wifi to do so. Maybe I can convince them to let me take my 3DS back home and do the transfer, while leaving them my driver's license or something.

I must have done the transfer incorrectly the first time around then. I remember having to redownload everything.
Anyhow, looking forward to getting everything transferred over come Sunday!

I plan on using a 32 GB card I bought recently for my XL. Should I put it in the XL before turning it on,or will that screw something up? Afterwards I'm going to transfer everything from my OG 3DS, if that matters.

So, one thing I am confused about regarding the transfer:
I already have a 32GB card in my 3DS that I want to move to the XL. I realize that after I do the transfer, I can simply move it over. However, does the transferring process attempt to copy the games on the source SD card over to the target system's SD card? Can I choose to do this or not, or does it either always try to copy, or never try to copy?

EDIT - Also, I have a DSi to get rid of. Anybody know of any stores doing a trade special for those? I realize it's unlikely.

No, it doesn't attempt to copy, the system will tell you to take the SD that's on the 3DS and put it on the XL.
weird, that's what happened with me as well and I'm sure I did all the correct steps

the XL looks great, although when u open it, it looks kinda cheap. I'm missing the shining 3D sign and stuff like that xD
Also, I still got issues with the right 3D settings, I can't seem to put the thing right to actually see it well. Keeps messing up for me.
Same here. 3D on the old 3DS feels more natural to me. On the old model, I had the slider always up, on the new one about 25% and now it's working for me. For some reason I can't get used to the 3D on the model. I keep adjusting to avoid double images.

I'm hearing that it copies everything over, or just licenses and you swap sd.

Second one. The system transfer just transfers licenses; you have to copy over the SD card contents manually on a PC.

Oh....well nevermind then. Got hyped for nothing.
I'd say it is the same, but because the screen is bigger it looks better. I found I had to adjust to the 3D again, so at first it wasn't that good but now that I'm use to it, it looks fine.
Where are these negative reports? All I've been seeing is hands-on with hugified 3D screen improvements

On the 3DS I could have it half-way. On the XL I struggle with the slider at the bottom of the 3D slider.

It's really to help offset the purchase of the XL. I love the system, but I'd rather have some cash once I pick up my XL.

States "All downloaded games transfer to system B." which makes it sound like it's copying the contents of the SD card, since that's where the games are stored. That's why I was confused.
After some experimenting I have to admit, the more u use it the more u get used to it. I think it's because of the fact the screen is bigger, u need to readjust the 3D.

I can't believe I just picked up 5 3DS games. I gonna get my XL on the 21st (getting a red one)
Picked up Mario Kart 7, Tales of the Abyss, Super Mario 3D Land, Oot Zelda, Devil Survivor overclocked. I'll pick up super Mario bros 2 when I pick up the 3DS.
Btw anyone play Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS? Any thoughts?

It got annoying at times, but it was a great game.
What was annoying about it?
All this talk of worse 3D makes me want to stick with my current 3DS.
For what it's worth I've seen more people say it's better.

Girlfriend picked me up a DSiXL yesterday for my birthday. The DSL served me quite well for 6 years. I anticipate this to do the same. Might pick up a 3DS a few years down the road after all the bugs are worked out.

I find the sweet spot harder to find but I'd still never, ever go back. I was disappointed by that particular aspect but I'm very, very pleased with the console and the screens as a whole. It helps if you hold a particular distance from your face, I can almost see the 3D effect snapping into place at a certain distance. Also I think sometimes you have to counter-intuitively tilt the console so you're directing the two images at each eye - I found I had to do that with the original but perhaps it's more exacerbated with this one or there's a slightly different knack to it.
