Are you really excited about a gold piece of plastic attached to a string? What on Earth would you do with it?
Booooo! It's a real life Mario coin!

So I think I've finally settled on a color - the blue one. After watching the latest unboxings I really started to like it. Don't really care for the silver, but the lack of good footage of the red is still annoying. That could still change my mind, but so far I'm going with blue.

It's a good looking color. I'm in for red at the moment myself. :)

What recent unboxings? I'm deciding between waiting for silver or getting blue, but there's been no good footage of the blue model. Can you post the links?

Ugh I want the silver one but the wait for the XL is already killing me (and my eyes). Knowing NoA it'll be Winter before we get the silver model. I wish the blue color was less like a Smartie and more like the Aqua Blue 3DS. So pretty.

I'm with you on this one.

3DS game sizes are pretty small though, so on a 32GB SD card, it will likely take a while to fill it up. Resident Evil and MGS3D are the only two games over 2GB.
Yeah most games aren't huge, and 32GB cards are like $20. It'd probably last me for the life of the device unless everyone goes huge with FMVs and stuff.
So you can't buy a physical copy of the game and give the download code to your friend.
Or keep the code and sell the cart.
Hard copy for sure. I like knowing I can sell, trade or give away stuff if I'm done with it forever. (Seems unlikely I'd get rid of this game in particular though.)
I'd consider digital just cause I probably would never bother selling it. My big concern is way down the line, like whether the download apps break or something.

Thats what I'm doing, though i may wait until all white or black becomes available. Both the blue and the red have looked rather cheap so far. What is Nintendo's usual schedule on releasing new colors?

my plan was this:

1.back up sd card onto computer
2.trade 3ds
3.pre order xl
4.realise that backing up the sd card hasn't transferred all of my data
5.lament

Same, mainly because that means my kids can play it too. With no account system and no sharing, I'm not buying any retail games digitally

So far, I haven't seen much of NSMB 2 that makes me want it, tbh. Other than the soundtrack.

NSMB U surprisingly looks better.

This might be a bit off topic, but I'm sure this is probably a relevant question to some people here, and I don't want to make a new thread...

A friend of mine who is living in Japan wants to get a Japanese 3DS LL, but he'll be visiting in the U.S. when it comes out. He was thinking about having a friend in Japan send it to him, but he heard that apparently USPS recently banned all international shipments of products with lithium-ion batteries. He wants to know what the likelihood is that they'd catch it in a scan or something. Has anyone here ever dealt with anything like this? Maybe anyone who imported a Japanese 3DS or Vita? Do you think he'd be safe or not?

Didn't find any mention of a 3ds xl screen protector on Amazon.fr or Fnac.com.
Checked Playasia and, well obviously found nothing to stop me ranting so...

9-10 days till euro launch, are we really sure Nintendo is releasing an handled here ?

And voila, ranting is good.
Well not as good as screen protectors and a pooch but hey...

I'll never go full DD (at least while retail still exists), even when the personal accounts come. I like to look at my games library on the shelf and feel that I do have some games, not just some data on remote servers.

Same. Mix of DD/Retail doesn't sit well with me. I'll go DD only when a system comes out with a 1 or 2TB HDD and everything as DD at launch.

True ,lose the system , lose the games

Im just jaded because i lost a cartridge holder containing street fighter, ridge racer, mario 3d land and zelda :(

If they were downloads, i could have downloaded them again.

Lose your 3DS or have it stolen and see how many of those games you downloaded can be re-downloaded when you buy a new 3DS.

not that they don't need an account system and I'm not looking forward to the "nintendo network" online overhaul, but nintendo customer service is pretty rad. I've never heard an instance of them not replacing your games in a situation like this. especially if your downloads are tied to your club nintendo account, which 99% of peoples are.

You can when Nintendo doesn't have account wide downloads
If you lose your 3DS, Nintendo can still restore all of your eShop purchases on a new 3DS if you provide them with a police report. You'll lose all your original save data, and it might be a slightly complicated process, but at least you can still restore those purchases. If you lose a physical game card, that's it. There's no hope of getting it back, unless you happen to somehow find it or have it returned to you.

The lack of accounts situation is a pain, it is true. Only light at the end of the tunnel is the confirmation accounts are coming to 3DS after Wii U launches.

But for instance, I'm considering upgrading, and naturally cannot trade in my 3DS in advance to fund it - I have to transfer my ambassador status and other e-shop purchases.

I think Nintendo is readying some kind of update, maybe a provisory account system.

I mean, they are about to launch a new 3DS and their first retail/digital game.

The time is NOW.

My daughter lost her Ambassador 3DS on the bus. Nintendo wouldn't do a damn thing without a police report. She lost it, and they asked for a police report. To replace a 6 year old's downloads. Nintendo support is not what I would call "rad". They're as ass-backwards as the company they represent. Seriously, can anyone name any major company that still attaches digital purchases to the hardware?

I'd have to get a police report?
