Then i don't mind that at all.
So what is the problem with putting gay people in games?
Then i don't mind that at all.
I don't mind gay people at all. Some people think i hate gay people and i apologize if i made it seem that way. I'm the kind of guy that doesn't give a shit about what they do as long as they're happy...My video games on the other hand.
it's kind of the opposite of the "any publicity is good publicity" idea.
Calling the mere existence of gay people political only makes them political. If you were fine with their existence, it would be a total nonissue, so the protest of it says that you have an issue with them being presented as existing at all. So if that's not your issue, then can you name anything else about Bioware games that are "too political?"I don't mind gay people at all. Some people think i hate gay people and i apologize if i made it seem that way. I'm the kind of guy that doesn't give a shit about what they do as long as they're happy...My video games on the other hand.
Come on, please think that through. You're saying you're completely fine with gays, but then you say "I don't wanna see them in my video games". Please, really think about that. What is wrong with equal (equal not meaning it has to be 50-50) representation of sexuality?I don't mind gay people at all. She's the one who's saying she wants to move on past all this. If there's one thing I've learned from every scandal that's ever happened, it's that the best way to get people to stop talking about it is to either resolve it, or ignore it entirely. In this case, the actual "scandal" is mostly farcical in nature and thus cannot be resolved, so it sounds like the best possible option here is to ignore it entirely.
So what is the problem with putting gay people in games?
No. It's the fact that they have to put them in there to make it seem like its ok. I already know its okay.
I guess it's just me being a grump and they're putting something in a game to make a point that i'm already okay with.
Yep. Sums up everything I was about to sayJust some opinions on the subject.
- Both sides of this argument are ruined by the extremists.
- I don't think journalists or bloggers should be paying the artists they cover via patreon.
- I think Zoe Quinn is playing the victim to a sickening degree. Faking DDOS attacks and all that nonsense. Even look at this clickbait article.
- People sending death threats is always wrong and pathetic but that's just the stupidity of the internet that exists today.
- Game journalists stating that all gamers are white males. That is just plain extremist social justice warrior bullshit. It was really nice seeing Twitter fight back against this ridiculous label.
It's also embarrassing because you think it's narcissistic to feel hated.
Metal Gear Solid was a franchise i played before i had this political hatred.
They have to?
Seem like it's okay?
You obviously have an issue with gay people. You're okay with them existing as long as you're not exposed to them.
This is golden!
You must just fume with resentment having to see your forum name and avatar on every one of your posts these days.
And man, you're going to be missing out on The Phantom Pain...
wtf... are you serious? what high horse are you riding that tells you its embarrassing to call someone out on their narcissistic view?
granted its for comedy purposes, and granted she is a victim of internet harassment, but who the hell are you to judge people's point of views? what if i feel the title of the article undermines the real harassment that a lot of people face on the internet? what then? am i still an "embarrassment"?
geez, some of you have no chill in you.
I still don't really understand the fuss around this whole episode. So she slept with some guys? Wow; I don't give a fuck.

That's besides the point, though. Media is one of the best indicator of whether or not something is accepted in society. Sixty years ago, I Love Lucy stood out for starring a (debatably) interracial couple and for having an episode revolving around a pregnancy. Nowadays, no one bats an eye at either of those things.
can't believe we still have people still claiming the "it's about journalistic integrity!" angle when the ire is directed a small indie games instead of advertising-campaigns-as-reviews you get for multi-million dollar AAA game devs...
They're not doing it to make a point. They're doing it because they have a rather large gay fan base, and are appealing to it.
Read the article before I commented.
It was pretty much what I figured it would be.
"Men are evil. Gamers are evil. Nothing I did was shady or suspect."
is it kind of or wholly opposite? if its kind of opposite, then imagine for a second that both concepts aren't mutually exclusive, and focus on the aspect of the snowball effect of public controversy. I really want you to understand where I'm coming from. Forget the whole idea of bad or good publicity... lets focus on just the "publicity" aspect. lets pretend that the streisand effect is this model: P= X+(-C). now C is the publicity. X is the fact that you are talking about it. now lets move on to the "any publicity is good publicity" model. P= X + l(-C)l notice how both models are similar?
Please, point out where she says that.Read the article before I commented.

I love Metal Gear solid. Just games that aren't ridiculous in their depiction.
I think i just hate Bioware period. They're just a shit tier developer to me now. I like Dragon Age Origins but when i saw poop mountain i was like NOPE.

I can't really say i do.
Either a bunch of you love to ignore context or have reading comprehension deficiencies. where on earth did i say its narcissistic to feel hated?
this thread is fucking embarassing
I do not like Zoe Quinn.
I also do not like either side of that embarrassing #GamerGate bullshit
In short, I hate everyone.
I think if you were totally okay with it, you'd recognize games aren't made just for you and you wouldn't have brought it up in the first place. Appealing to Not-You is not the same as being political.I guess it's just me being a grump and they're putting something in a game to make a point that i'm already okay with.

Huh, I'm confused. If you don't mind gay people in real life (presumably you would treat a gay person the same way you would a stright person) then surely the issue would be relationships in games, period? Games forcing straightness on you would be just as bad as games forcing gayness on you, yeah?
The conduct of the videogame fandom in general is pretty embarrassing.
I will throw my hat into this ring
You're misunderstanding me. None of its bad. I just don't dislike real life problems in my games. I play them to get away from that stuff. It's a hobby.

Would you agree that the devs leaving out gay options is at least as political a statement as if they include that option? Like, forget ideas (silly ones) like which would be "more political." Both decisions on the part of the dev are political decisions, right? Or do you not agree with that?
Isn't Depression Quest free? I don't know how she's supposed to profit according to that theory. Are there ads in this game?
