Pictures from my trip in May 2015

Easter 2016 (sometime in week 12-14)
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan

A few of us are planning a trip to Japan next year. Maybe you want to join us?

We'll be going sometime during easter since it's one of the best times to go weather-wise, there's sakura trees blooming and it's far enough off for people to save up some money.

Most likely going for close to 2 weeks. 1 week in Tokyo and then the rest in the Kansai (Kyoto/Osaka) region.

You need to co-ordinate with the others that are going and order the flight yourself. I will help out getting us an apartment, hostel and/or hotel for a cheap price. If we get a hostel room we will get a private room for our group, but with shared bathrooms and showers. Hotel or apartment will be a private room for our group with private bathroom and shower.

Estimated budget should be about $1300+flight cost if you want to only join us for the first week in Tokyo and about $2600+flight cost if you want to join in on the whole trip. This depends on what kind of accomodation we'll get.

You will need to confirm if you're going and order the flight by the start of September 2015.

It will be best if we do a group of max 4 people, so at the end of August I'll go through the list in order of who's shown interest and confirm if you're going or not. Feel free to show interest even if there's already 4 people on the list in case somebody else have to drop out by then.

Some of the things we could be checking out in Tokyo:
Ghibli museum
Akihabara + nearby Kanda shrine (from Love Live)
Nakano Broadway
Odaiba (which has the giant Gundam statue and other stuff)
Shibuya
Some of the most famous shrines and a park
Other things you want to check out

Some of the things we could be checking out in Kansai region:
K-On school building
Nipponbashi
Sakura viewing
Day trip to Nara
Day trip to Hiroshima
More temples and shrines
Other things you want to check out

October 2015 trip

We've also been planning a trip for October this year. We now got the dates and accomodation locked down. It's a Tokyo-only trip and we're arriving in Tokyo on October 7th and leaving Tokyo on the 15th. We're renting an apartment for this trip with a private bathroom/shower.

There is one free space left on this trip if anybody wants to join us!

The budget for this trip will be about $700 + flight cost. This includes all transportation, food and accomodation.

Haha I love the people friendly deer. They tried to get at my pockets when I made my last visit. I see you also made it the anti-nuclear bomb museum (don't remember the official name). It was a little weird cause I went there the day before the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. I may not be American but I was there with an American group (and really I do consider myself half American). Luckily nobody made a point to throw some hate. It was nice to see the general kindness from the people. Obviously it's not like "we" were responsible but you have that distant connection... just happy there were no issues.

Love all your other pictures too. You really got around to many great places.

What sort of lifestyle are you living where you can afford to just run off to Japan for a couple weeks three times a year?

I'm going two times this year, not three!

That's some crazy amount of detail right there. It would acutally be pretty wierd if you live in that area. Did you see something related to K-on! left by fans at that place?

Nah, that's what the school is for :p

Speaking of Love Live...

Love Live! Idols Are 1st Anime Character Group to Top Weekly Album Chart Since K-ON!

The Love Live! anime's μ's Best Album Best Live Collection II sold 85,000 copies to top Oricon's album sales chart for the May 25-31 week. The franchise's idol group "μ's" is the first in-anime character group to top the weekly album chart since the K-ON! anime's Ho-kago Tea Time did in 2010. It is also the first Love Live! CD to top the weekly album or singles chart.

Whaaa? The group is called Muse only spelled differently? Hahaha. I wonder if their album will outsell the male Muse this summer

In Japan of course. Not world wide

transformers fans are the worst though

seriously, i despise idol culture. it's so gross and demeaning to women.
As with anything, there's a small bad part that you're focusing on to despise the whole.

The idols we're currently talking about:
-sing
-dance
-wear cute outfits
-sign autographs
-shake hands
-do radio shows
-va work for an anime

the culture here on gaf:
-spend way to much money on their products
-talk about their past, current, and upcoming releases and events
-squee at their cuteness

what is gross about any of that?

idol culture inherently demeans women

pretty sure most of you are guys so no shit you guys don't understand

im not even trolling, it's impossible for a male to fully understand negative and demeaning views of women

just like it's impossible for a straight person to understand what a gay person goes through and other things
