I may need one, my xone controller dorsal button is getting more fucked up by the day and one stick kinda drift.

Do this brand make quality controller or they are like middle of the road like nacon?
 
So whats the hype about this controller ? i apex a lot and need a new controller. Elite v2 is a no go, looking to buy the original but assessing other options as well. Care to elaborate ?

As far as I know 8bitdo is pretty reliable and for 45 €.. Hype is (in my mind) quality. Back buttons and wired.

Guessing its miles better than the wired PowerA I'm ising

Coincidentally I've just been looking at this (and the 8bitdo Pro 2), and I hope reviews for it are good because I'd love to have a "normal" controller with back/grip buttons. All I need is for Steam Input to support it and I'm set.

I previously ordered and returned a 8bitdo Pro+, but I found the buttons too flat and noisy so I hope that this controller goes in the opposite direction and goes for a quieter approach. If nothing else, it should have a quieter d-pad than the official Xbox controllers, which puts me off them.

Maybe they will eventually do a PlayStation controller with back buttons, then I won't have to give up the touchpad to get the back buttons

Fair enough. It's a Halo only controller for me so yeah
 
I assume the Dpad is the same as other 8bitdo controllers? Is it any decent? The Dpad is basically the only thing I don't care for on the official xbox controller.
 
Series controllers are close to perfect. My only issue is they are loud. Probably the loudest controller I've ever used. I'll probably pick this up if it's quieter.

I've owned a few of their controllers and they've all been excellent quality. Definitely above average.
 
So for the back buttons - they work on every xbox game or is it down to devs to support it? I don't see what the fuss is about.

Have one preordered myself, can't wait.

Not sure why I thought it was earlier in the month and even in the other thread of us talking about this controller I think I mentioned they were late or something along those lines.

It has back buttons?

I prefer wired for my controllers unless they have a flimsy usb port like the ds4 and the switch pro controller.

That looks very cool OP, I'm happy for you.

Got some 8bitdoes myself over here, the NES with sticks and a normal SNES one. Both work very well and gave me 0 issues back when I used them.

And the back buttons stopped working so no more running and crouching/sliding

It does. Doesn't it? Thanks man. Perhaps I'll buy some retro ones when I'll finally install retroarch on my Series S. Nice feedback as well!!!

Hype personally comes from the back buttons that help immensely playing Halo. That's all really

I'm looking for a new controller, I made a thread about my issues with Xbox Series controller the other day. Not really sure what to get now, I don't know if this one will be any good / better. If it's quieter than Xbox Series that would be an improvement, but my issues are also the amount of problems you can have, like drift, weird noises, breaking parts etc...
The ergonomic doesn't look as good as the Xbox controllers, at least in picture, maybe it's good once in hands.
 
I still have my elite 1 controller XD. I have a couple 8bitdo controllers for android / switch, but fuck only wired. I also have a only wired hori for the switch, and had to get the pro wireless.

That 25€ costing PowerA had drift from the start but most 150$ Elite controllers as well so I was like fuck it. Button sounds and ergonomics are still a mystery ofcourse

I also don't really care for the back buttons as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I would if it would let you bind anything to it like on keyboard, but since it can't be another new function, it's just a shortcut for an existing button so I don't really see in which games I could use it.
It would be nice if you could bind new commands to that, like in RDR 2 for example, when playing with a controller it's awful because you have to spam the A button to sprint, even with a horse, while on keyboard you only have to hold shift and that's it, so having shift on a back button could maybe help, although I don't really know if it would work well, like the game would recognize keyboard and controller inputs at the same time, it would probably glitch.

So for me it's really about finding a new decent regular controller.

On powerA you could only like duplicate buttons to the backs ones. Sucked ass but still; could left my thumbs on the sticks. And that's worth a lot. Its not a 150 programmable gamepad with issues out of the box.

It's absurd that this niche isn't filled in this day and age. A company selling quality, long lasting controllers could make a killing.

People talk about stick drift on all controllers, but there's magnet based ones (Hall effect) that exist already but not from a bigger brand that could combine it with experienced design and features - and of course the quality that people want.

There's nothing really special about them in that sense. They're just well made controllers but they come with that amazing SNES D-pad and face buttons.

Speaking personally, I've bought a few of their controllers for my Retropie and PC and I've been really happy with all of them. The SN30 is pretty much an exact replica of the old SNES controller and it gave me a massive dose of nostalgia when I first held it. I then bought the SN30 Pro and Pro 2 for my PC and they're basically just SNES controllers with analog sticks/triggers.

I always thought that being terrible at platformers was just me being old or input lag or whatever because I never had a problem with that back in the day. But it was just that crappy D-pad on my old 360 controller.

8bitdo controllers are very highly regarded... that's basically it.
it's nothing special really, just made by 8bitdo


and I for one also am one to praise them, I am really REALLY picky when it comes to third party controllers. and 8bitdo is quite literally the only manufacturer that IMO makes 1st party grade controllers. what I mean by that is that they feel like they could be included in a first party console. they feel high quality and well designed.


for example, if you have a Switch, the 8bitdo Pro 2 is BY FAR the best controller you can get.
it is far better than the 1st party controllers by Nintendo and support all the important features

Anyway... I am very curious about this, as 8Bitdo has earned my trust. I own A LOT of their controllers:

- 2x NES controllers for the NES classic
- 2x SNES controllers for the SNES classic
- 1 wireless SNES controller for the actual SNES (with 2.4 GHz receiver)
- 1 wireless SNES Bluetooth controller ("SF 30 pro" I believe) controller with an SNES Bluetooth receiver
- 1 Genesis controller (6-button version; the "M30") with a 2.4Ghz USB receiver

The controllers look and feel close to their original counterparts. I use them a lot, and they feel great. The wireless technology gives it practically no lag. (Well, the 2.4Ghz anyway; there is a tiny bit of lag with the Bluetooth stuff, but it's really not at all detectable in most daily usage). The battery life is awesome.

By contrast, I have a Retro-Bit wireless Saturn controller that, while good, feels a bit on the "cheap" side and the battery on it is junk (takes a lot of time to charge, doesn't hold the charge very well; maybe I just got a busted controller on this front but it mostly works OK).

So yea, for 3rd party stuff, 8Bitdo has a very good track record for me.

Even with my TV is on the desk I try to go for wireless if possible . My mouse is already using the Lightspeed adapter while Series X controller and XM4 TWS earbuds are on Bluetooth . Cable is ugly on desk and cluttered .

Just ordered the Gulikit Kingkong Pro 2 instead , hopes its an upgrade over my Series X controller which is already drifting severely . If only this 8Bitdo is wireless

Just pre-ordered from Amazon. Worst case I can return it, but fingers crossed.

Deal breakers will be noisy buttons and unexpected compatibility issues, but I hope for the most part it will be fine. Managing the back buttons across profiles will be the only lack of convenience unless/until Steam supports it, but even that won't really be a problem. My biggest hope is that it has a bit more bulk than the controllers I usually use, because the DS4 feels a little bit small in my hands. At the very least around the grips.
