Don't know why people are complaining about attractive characters. Rather have the cast looking really attractive, though its not a necessity: interesting character designs are more important.
Girls? If we want to fix problems, we could start by calling them women, because that's what they are, not girls...
Looks like I am not the only one keep seen Shrek from the Asari faces...Anything that doesn't remind me of Shrek is an automatic improvement. Yeah the mock-ups fall back on a more conventionally attractive design, but they don't remind me of Shrek so...
Haha I don't know why so many people got triggered by this. Look Bioware tried to make Sara look sexy themselves and failed. Now an artist makes a more realistic looking Sara and everybody is losing their mind. The right one looks way better, more realistic and is in my opinion not super sexed up, like many are claiming. The Asari on the other hand really went from orc to instagram model. But people could argue about that too, weren't Asari super attractive to other species?
And this is not just about the female characters here, the male ones need improvement too.
Girls? If we want to fix problems, we could start by calling them women, because that's what they are, not girls...
Both females are fine. They are, you know, just girls, not models. It's you guys, you have a problem with females in video games, they don't have to be sexy and gorgeous all the time...
No one is losing their mind. This is a discussion board. You offered up a picture for discussion. Now you're getting a variety of opinions, and you disagree with some of them. Don't try to make this about being "triggered" and "losing their mind", just stick to addressing what people are saying.

Yeah, but people started throwing words like "sexist" at those pictures. That sounds pretty triggered to me. I don't mind the people saying it looks too sexy and that making every character in the game look like that would make it boring and unrealistic. That sounds more like wanting to discuss it.
As I said, it's not about making the characters more attractive, but getting them to look more realistic. I really think that the improved Ryder in the picture is what the people at Bioware imagined it should look like. They just weren't able to pull it off. I agree with many people that Sara right now looks very very artificial, with unnatural proportions and facial animation.
I am pretty bummed that there won't be any modding.
Those characters don't look fine, like at all.
They're not ugly, they're just plain weird.
Exactly, some people kind of don't understand. These characters look ugly to us because they have unnatural face features(character model not realistic enough) and not because we want them to be more attractive.

How is it sexist? This is the model they used for FemRyder.

It looks NOTHING like her.
This is also a discussion board with threads. Threads are usually for a specific topic. This thread is about hilarious animations and other goofy stuff in Andromeda, not sexism in video games. If people want to have a meaningful discussion about that, I'd personally take it elsewhere.
a) you apparently have no idea what it means to be triggered. Someone calling something sexist isn't triggered. I'm sick and tired of the casual misogyny that permeates gaming culture and everyone's desperate attempts to normalise it and paint women who object as shrill shrieking harpies and men as white knight cucks.
b) Sara's design on its own is fine. That picture has a weird fish eye effect that makes her look stretched. It's the incompetent animation that messes her up.
Have you thought it looks nothing like her because they only used her as a light inspiration? They don't have the obligation of doing the video game character 100% like the real models.

Not so much about how hot they look but how they look dead and not lifelike in their behavior. Is it fondamentally wrong to want to play an attractive character though ? Just asking.
Everyone in the Ryder family thread is trying to make the most gorgeous characters possible.
a) Thanks for making my point.

It looks NOTHING like her. It's not sexist to say the character model looks like dog shit and someone puts it back to something that remotely looks like the face it was based off.
Reminder, this is what Male Shepard looked like compared to his real life model.

The face is terrible. Why would they get real life models then just heavily alter it? They didn't before. They've used models for many characters and copied their look closely. Men and women. Male Ryder looks similar to the model but still janky and weird, Female Ryder looks like she had bad plastic surgery and doesn't even look like a normal person. It's not like they want "We want her to look more normal and not overly attractive like a model". Bioware has done plenty of "regular" looking characters without making it look dreadful. Dragon Age has had them and same with ME. They butchered the character and many others too. It's a bad job on facial design and animation.
That image is stupid in the fact that they made her "prettier" but it's better in that the eyes look so much better. I feel like if they fixed the eyes in the game it would go along ways towards eliminating the offness we are seeing.
You are missing the point here, he was trying to say the photoshopped image litereally IS the model they used to make female Ryder, It just so happened that BioWare didn't make her look much like the model, intentional or unintentional.
That doesn't mean having a fem Ryder that looks 100% percent like her model is more sexist than the 30% we got (I'd argue more like 10% lol).

Doesnt mean the argument isn't sound.
I mean really, is it a big problem if you want template Ryder to look like the reference model?
Honestly though, I watched a video interview of the model reference and FemaleRyder does resemble her a lot. My opinion is FemRyder has a weird resting face + inconsitent animation quality that makes her look weird as hell, compared to the real life inspiration.
EDIT: Here's the video I watched: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJvhVcSB3w8

I noticed something similar in the PeeBee mission gameplay, with the laser and the background smoke cloud. Not an animation, but was playing MP and noticed the Stars are visible through the planet. Lol, not gonna say i havent seen shit like this in other games, but still

Jeeez, Bioware getting roasted. It's beginning to look like another Dragon Age 2 if the reviewers are mediocre as well.
I mean, Andromeda is a great game with silly faces sometimes. I liked DA2 but the issues it had are way worse.Dragon Age II is actually good tho
ImaginingSinceNoPicture.gifthe problem is she doesn't look human. i dont care if she looks like a washing machine hit her in the face at high speed.
Her dead eyes and constant smile is creepy.
The eyes are everything when it comes to selling something as a believable human being and Bioware really fucked everything up in that department. They could have just changed the eyes and leave the jaw/cheeks completely alone and it would be a 110% improvement over the botched original model.
