Achieve Trophies | June 2012 Thread | Diabol Pls. Regards, Kaz and Don.

I'm gonna go for my seventh attempt at the NYMH mode in Max Payne 3 today (beat the whole game in one sitting without dying). Here's how my other attempts went:

1) Failed at Ch.4 (waited too long to go through a gate, my partner died)
2) Failed at Ch.2 (accidentally shot a woman)
3) Failed at Ch.11 (fucked up a fight and wasted all my painkillers)
4) Failed at Ch.10 (got one-hit-killed by a sniper)
5) Failed at Ch.7 (hit in the face with a molotov)
6) Failed at Ch.6 (I had no painkillers and died almost instantly)

Damn, I've only tried it twice so far and the farthest I got was Chapter 3 before I died in last man standing. I also shot the girl in Chapter 2 lol

Playing Planet 51 again. I remember why I quit last time. I won't give up this time. I finished the story now, cleared one of the tasks. Now I still need to do a couple of collectibles and more of those damned tasks.

I just beat NYMH and got the "The Shadows Rushed Me" achievement on my 8th attempt. I'm so friggin happy! ^_^

Mafia II isn't hard, just a lot of leg work/collectibles, good story, GOODFELLAS-Lite

Just Cause 2 is just a fucking riot and a half, so much fun
You will get the platinum sooner or later, it depends on how much fun you want to have and want to finish that game up quickly or slowly
 
Mass Effect 2: Got through Shadow Broker....wow. Sad there is a hardcore difficulty trophy though. Guess a replay will be needed later.
 
5th of June and I have not been in my vita or ps3. Let down this month. Playing skyward sword. It's some addictive shit. Got dragons dogma waiting for me I play. But this month I am not going for any trophies at all
 
Crysis is done. Glad to get that 3GB game out of my system in time for....

Thinking of finishing Sideways NY & Choplifter HD, Hard Corps is too much for me.

Finally got around to updating post#2 and aligning the scores in the OP.

Since this month the thread will probably be less active due in part to E3, let me ask you:

How did you look to E3 from a trophy point of view? Did you wonder what kind of trophies certain titles would get. I was writing down lists in my head for titles like Call of Duty and God of War, so I guess the sequelitis will hit trophy lists too.

Then again titles like Beyond could be very interesting trophy wise, even though it will probably mirror Heavy Rain (which had one of the coolest hidden Gold trophy btw if you knew about it)

Any titles you guys think will have good trophies?

Also the lack of achievement discussion on the WiiU (possible lack of a universal system like on PSN and XBL) made me a little sad.
 
All I want from god of war is a trophy for beating the hardest mode, I'm getting tired of average joes platinuming that game. I have some hope but after 5 games all having the exact same damn lists....

Did they ever fix just cause 2? That thing crippled my save file so many times it's not even funny, it's also buggy and glitchy as fuck.

In all honesty didn't think about it all while looking at the games. Was complaining too much to myself 'Why hasn't X been announced?' where X can be replaced with KH Collection, Hitman Collection, Retro Studios Game and Killzone 4.

Didn't God of War III and the second HD Collection have difficulty trophies?
 
OK guys I watched a YT video of someone playing Disgaea 4 and I am never going to put that thing into my console. It was like watching a monkey perform an abortion on a sperm whale.

After they announced the sequel to Lords of Shadow, I stuffed my copy into the machine and actually managed to beat the fist titan boss where I got stuck the first time around. I did it without consulting any FAQs, but the fight is still bogus I say. How the hell should I realize that I should be on ledge number x to allow the QTE jump to happen? Nobody told me that. Plus the camera still bugs me. And then after that they threw in the Chupacabra enemies that annoy me so much. But it gets better.

My Dragon's Dogma still hasn't arrived. Luckily there's Diablo.

StevePharma, I'll echo these thoughts. I didn't really think about achievements at all during E3.

Honestly, E3 is fucking horrible, and pretty much irrelevant to me these days. Who cares about these shitty conferences? The conferences are crap year after year but they keep pumping out excellent software, so I don't care.

What I'd really love to know though is, Will Max Payne 3's DLC have any achievements? I'm concerned that Rockstar has released only barebones information about the DLC so far.
 
Finished up VF5.

Ran into difficulty with the parries Challenge on the 9th mission. Could not beat Vanessa at all with Lau.

In the end I switched to Vanessa and used her own tricks against her.


Running through Wolfenstein 3D, dug up maps online.

I'll chime in with a thought I had:
I think it would be neat if The Last of Us had trophies associated with being either good or bad role model for the young girl. Things like kill count and stuff would be associated with it I guess.
 
Platinum #67: Planet 51. A complete **** of a game, but the Platinum is my 3600th Trophy and the Trophy to put me at level 23, 1%. Which means I achieved my month's goal and got myself three Platinums already.

I was too busy cursing Nintendo to pay attention to anything else, but imagining something like Mario Kart with trophies...ugghh, would be the most infuriating thing ever, haha. Other than that I haven't had much time to play lately because of my exams, just squeezed in a bit of Peace Walker here and there, I hate that game...:(

I did wonder if Wonderbooks would have trophies, lol. Probably the easiest stuff ever for big-time trophy hunters.
 
So all I need for the Duke Nukem Forever platinum is to beat it on Insane. Just found out there is a glitch that works for probably 80% of the game where you can play it with Invulnerability on lol. daaamn. 1st platinum of the month here I come! Will try and get it tonight.

I completed Dragon's Dogma with 100% Achievements last night. Felt good, such an awesome game. That gave me my 140th Completed game :)

Also could I be added to the OP?

I'm looking to play the game that has the quickest/easiest Platinum.
...Actually my goal isn't mainly to Platinum but rather to get as many trophies as I can from the game b4 I consider putting it in my 'to trade off' pile:

Shadows is the fastest. You can get all trophies except two in one playthrough. Then you need to replay two times on other difficulties but that takes like 4 hours per playthrough.

Personally I highly recommend playing the game on hard first without going out of your way for trophies. You have to play three playthroughs anyway. You can focus on trophies in your second and third runs (normal and easy).

Besides, the red gem achievement should be done on easy, as they are cheapest to buy on easy, but even on easy it will take a shitload of white gem grinding to buy every red gem (white gems are the currency, use them to buy red gems + other merchandise). And I mean a shitload of boring soulless grinding. I wouldn't want to deal with that in a first playthrough. IMO it's better to just play the game normally on hard, since you have to do three full playthroughs regardless.
 
Almost got my 100% in Dragon's Dogma but damn if I don't want to start all over again and play from a fresh character already. I can't get over how good it is. Demo does it no justice. Still deciding my backlog attack for my vacation next week. Didn't think I would be this close to 100% in DD already. Might throw up a list for suggestions later. I get stricken with indecision when looking at my backlog. Too many long RPGs ;).

I kind of feel sorry for whatever game has to follow Witcher 2 and Dragon's Dogma.
