Adam Sessler"Titan Fall one of the Most Enjoyable things I've played at a Convention"

I decided to post on this thread with a question to my good fellow GAFfers:

Do you believe that, it's harder for someone like Sessler (someone in the Gaming Industry) to give an honest opinion for a game without his viewers getting all worked up saying he is [Insert Console brand here] fanboy?

I mean, they have the right to be excited for any game, platform does not matter, but every time someone in the industry gives a exciting opinion about a game people often react saying that he/she must be in bed with Sony/MS/Nintendo.

(I'm not even getting an Xbox One now, don't even know when they are releasing in here since Microsoft barely cares about my country, same happened with the 360 but I do hope this game to be great, and FORZA to be a System seller because I love Forza games).

If this game comes out on the PS4 then I'm probably getting it but that is simply because the PS4 is my console of choice for this gen, nothing else.

I'm sorry but some of you are just idiots. I feel as if a lot of things are made into some sort of fanboy war when there is really nothing there. There is nothing controversial about this video or his opinion and in reality a lot of the people claiming other people are fanboys are really the fanboys themselves. I joined this forum to talk about and enjoy games and gaming, not stupid bullshit like this. I find that a lot of the times anymore we lose sense of that and it's not like my post is going to change any of that but reading through this thread is just disappointing.

Sorry for the bad language, that's just my honest off-the-top feelings.

I'm a mildly shocked that this will be on 360. I would think MS would want to force all the COD fans/Xbox loyalists to upgrade, thus adding to the XB1 sales. Or are the release dates staggered?

It's not that it's harder, but it's just not in his best interest when his goal is to come off as unbiased. (which I think he does a good job of)
I'm sure he likes and dislikes certain things about all three major companies, but it's his ability to convey his opinions seemingly objectively that adds to his appeal.
So I wouldn't say it's exactly harder, it's just that there is no real reason for him to.

I'm sure if I had his resources and access to every console and the vast majority of games released I'd be able to pick and choose what I like more too. But as you and I both experience, most (im assuming) people only own one console, and that makes them highlight the positives of their choice and highlight the negatives of the others.

Basically my point is people are going to get worked up one way or another, and being in the position he's in it's probably better not to "pick a side" just in the pursuit of appearing unbiased.

I believe they have said simultaneously, also why not they will still be making money off the 360.

The game is getting far too much attention from media. Prepare to be disappointed

Just got back from PAX. You don't go more than two minutes without overhearing regular gamers, not media, talk about how awesome Titanfall is. I'm going to check it out first thing in the morning.

I'm pretty sure it has the longest line out of any game at PAX actually.

Yeah, the director or producer guy on twitter was saying that other vendors complained about the line length so Respawn had to break it up. Might've been in reference to E3 though.

You mean downgraded from pc

My twitter feed has been full of people from PAX saying they also though it was excellent.

The feedback from those who have actually grabbed a controller and tried it has been excellent, in a way I haven;t heard in quite awhile. That makes me really excited to try it myself.

It's hidden behind EA's Origin and if there's one thing EA does well, it's absolutely shitting on the PC audience.

There is a possibility we will see a Steam release before launch.
I would love for that to happen, it looks fun. But I have learned my lesson (I hope) with EA and their microtransaction/"pay to level" hell. This game seems too huge for them to not take advantage of all that positive buzz to get more Origin installs to please the shareholders. Bullet points like, "Origin install base increase of by X% with the release of Titanfall" are catnip investors disassociated with the market.

The game is published under EA Partners, and past historical precedent has shown that developers can usually self-publish if they desire.

The Steam version would be standalone, IE no buying at Amazon or GMG and getting a Steam code.

Neither Battlefield 3 or Deadspace 3, Mass Effect 3 actually have "pay to win" microtransactions.

There's lots of complaints about EA and origin, but "pay to win" isn't one I think that's valid..the closest might be plants vs zombies 2 and from the gaf thread, it's a 50/50 breakdown in people's opinion of if the game is pay to win.

Now...will there be a premium pass type of deal for Titanfall?

100% assured o that.

Maybe Moneyhats buy the Xbox One version is the best one to get according to what I've read so far. Secret sauce? Closed platform flexing its muscles? Power of the cloud? lol

PC and Xbox 360 will have dedicated servers too. It was also pointed out by devs that many of the guys at Respawn are PC gamers themselves and want it to be great as well. I would put my money on the PC version being the best.

i hope the shooting mechanics and weapons themselves feel good. Hate how guns in CoD feel like pea shooters, no heft or impact at all. Might as well be carrying laser guns, which ironically fits in well with Titanfall's setting :p

From my perspective, while playing WITH Sessler (as I stated earlier in the thread), he seemed to be genuinely happy and excited WHILE we were playing. Sometimes I've seen some "fake enthusiasm" from fellow media folks, but we were all laughing and noting how fun the game was to play during the session. He doesn't strike me as the type who would put out an artificial happiness front if the game stunk.

Just more of my .02.

I know this is a pipe dream but since this is based on the Source engine it would be neat if bhopping were possible. Imagine bhopping around corners and rooftops to confound enemies.
there is a lot of agresive defenders too

"how you dare to have doubts about this AWESOME GAME OF THE FOREVER or the gaming press"

works in both sides
Most of the defenders I've seen have only been defending against all the unwarranted hate. This crusade from a contingent of GAF is seriously baffling to me. There are so many cookie cutter games out there that better deserve the hate.

"Lolz at Titanbro manufactured hype. Game doesn't look next gen at all, just COD with mechs, will pick it up when it's on PS4 though."

But... aesthetically, it does look like COD with mechs, and visually it looks like a current gen game. However, that doesn't stop the gameplay from looking exceedingly fun and dynamic for the FPS crowd. I don't understand why people can't accept all things being said about the game. I either hear, "no. it looks current-gen, therefore it can't be fun or good". Or, "omg it looks so fun, people who say it looks current gen are crazy!"

Ya know, it might just be a little from column A, and a little from column B.

I don't see that at all. I guess this is just a partisan war in which both sides think they're being unfairly attacked. It's all just so stupid.

And seriously, is this your first time following the pre-release coverage for a AAA game? This is nothing compared to the amount of pre-release hype many other games have gotten. For a recent example look at A Realm Reborn(a game which did live up to the hype thankfully).

after 38 years on this hobby this is not my first im pretty sure of that

I will give you that aesthetically it does look a lot like a futuristic MW2 with mechs, but graphically it doesn't look like a current gen game at all. It's not exactly pushing the envelope, but it's beyond what current gen consoles are capable of. It's not everybody's cup of tea, and it's fine for people to say so.

I'll accept any vaild criticism of the game, but 95% of the ones in these Titanfall threads are just variations on my previous post.

Current gen game? People keep saying this but I have no idea what they are referring to.

Have you seen Last of Us or Halo 4? These are supposedly the heavy weights of this generation, and the textures, frame rate, and IQ look low quality.

This is a next-gen game. It may not be a power house visually, but it does look solid. We have only seen it running on the PC at this point.
If you still wish to argue, I suggest downloading the 60 FPS direct feed gameplay.

I strongly doubt this, because of the DLC factor (sure, none has been announced, but considering Respawn has just denied microtransactions and day one DLC, it's not hard to read between the lines). See: Crysis 2 returning as Crysis 2: Maximum Edition.

Its definitely plausible. Depending on the contract, it might not be up to EA. That is why I always leas that statement with 'possibility.'

You know Titanfall will have plenty of DLC though. Side note, the problem with story-based DLC with voice-acting is it is more expensive to produce.

Sure, I'm just saying I don't think it a distinct possibility. Kingdoms of Amalur is probably the most obvious example of an EAP game that launched day-and-date on Steam despite having DLC, but of course it was also self-funded through the millions 38 Studios borrowed from taxpayers; Respawn, on the other hand, has been eating entirely from the hand of EA.

People keep talking about press/media "hyperbole" supposedly surrounding this game, but ignoring all the non press people who have been playing it saying it's excellent and praising just as much as the press have. But hey maybe MS are passing out top hats full o money to everyone waiting on line to play the game.

It's also interesting how people bring up how the press is untrustworthy when they hype this game, but i didn't hear any of that skepticism when the press was hyping TLOU at E3 in much the same way. Go figure.

OT can you play TLOU with M/KB?

Nope. Kb&m support on the PS3 is exceedingly rare and isn't something Sony itself has bothered to explore*:

- CS:GO
- Dust 514
- Unreal Tournament 3

* LBP2 may support the kb&m in Create mode; it was originally announced as launch feature but later dropped and I'm not sure if MM ever patched it in. As an aside, I'd initially assumed Portal 2 PS3 supported the kb&m, but a quick GS suggests otherwise.

And that's exactly the problem and bolsters my point. Imagine this on the XB1. We've seen the best possible version of this game and idk about you, but it looks barely above current gen. Gameplay looks butter smooth, but come on, nothing visually impressive. The XB1 version is only going to be worse.
