Going to nitpick and say it wasn't retconning with PB, and likely won't be retconning with how they resolve the current problems.

That episode, oh my god. I just can't believe how incredible this damn show is! Best episode by far.

I laughed so hard at LSP's star just falling off to the side. The little hologram dude that explained the entire multiverse in under a minute blew my mind, my jaw hung open the entire time. Jake throwing the map into an infinite loop was hilarious. The ending was fucking insane!

I KNEW I had seen that version of Finn some where before. What the fuck!?

Everything about that episode was nuts.

Insane fever dreams
Multiverse explanation in Enchiridion (Simon found the Enchiridion shortly before the War, and the dude explained that universes can "cross over" or connect at times)
PB's horrifying "experiment"
That
accidental slice on Finn's cheek out of nowhere
what the hell was up with that
Billy kind of... dead, with half his face blasted off
Everything about the last scene

And all the foreshadowing that lead up to it.

The slice has to be important. i don't know how, or why, but it has to be crazy important

Obviously Finn has just got his MANLY UPGRADE. It's like in Crisis Core:
Zack's mentor, Angeal, died and Zack got a manly scar on his cheek during the fight. Finn's "Mentor" Billy "died" and he got a manly scar on his cheek during the fight.

Also, seriously, WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT ENDING?

Let's not forget that every time we've seen an "adult" version of Finn he has a robotic right arm.

It's so amazing to watch a show like this change and take form. This is like what they always wanted Adventure Time to be, but they can't just start the show off dark like this. It takes time for the network, audience, and censors to comes to gips with a show and ease up on restrictions. I think for the first two or three seasons they couldn't even say "demon" in AT.

It's like the "Six Days to Air" doc on South Park, and how they get away with shit now that they would have never dreamed of trying back in season 2. Now that everyone is settled in with these characters and this universe, they can really take them places they literally couldn't before.

lsp isn't a princess :( dem lumps gonna be mad

Jake being a car was awesome lol

I need to watch it again, and I'm so happy it's just a few weeks til the new season , after the season 5 ending of LOST it was like a 6-8 month wait lol that was awful

So I was just watching the episode Too Young in season 3, and Jake gives Finn some advice on how to win the heart of a Princess. It sounds awfully familiar to what they are setting up with this season finish. I wonder if they have been dropping hints as far back as season 2. That blows my mind if true.

The first time I ever got to visit Cartoon Network was in September of last year and in the writer's room they had a list of all the realms and parts of Ooo on a white board, so I think it's safe to say they've had it planned out for quite a while. Us cartoonists are like that, plus it's WAY easier to build things like this into a cartoon than it is into a live-action show. They've probably had the idea for this since at least season 3, if not earlier, what with the year-long lead time it takes for an episode to go from scripts to screen.

Woah, what a mind fuck on the ending and it blew my mind with the whole multiple times and dimensions reveal (which has been hinted a lot through out by little moments). Such incredible writing and talent with this show, the consistency is amazing.

I am starting to think though, with the whole time aproach, and wondering if the "mushroom war" could have been result from the Lich and others from the current time on meddling with the past? I am starting to think that a lot of "Ooo" is a result of this in combining the beings from those other dimensions (princesses as an example were made guardians as a way of making sure that no one, like the Lich, could mess with the current world with the other dimensions) as a way of trying to restore any good that was left.

I believe there is a lot to Simon/Iceking than what we know of, especially when he had the book and how he was in such a rush during the Marceline flashback - him trying to keep his sanity as long as possible - and I reckon he has a huge part in the creation of Ooo or how the world/dimensions are as we know it. My theory anyhow.
Best show ever <3

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.

Also if the gender bend theory is true, it should be noted that
Nosed Finn, Nosed BMO and Fionna all appeared in "dream sequences" ... so maybe the dream is a way to connect the dimensions ?

Bishie version of Marceline, wich already is the favorite character of every girl who loves bishie things

edit :

That episode was nuts. These last two episodes were great.

I find the fandom for the gender bend characters to be generally annoying. Mostly because that episode really sucked. I think it also has to do with all the romance. I dislike the pandering the writers do to girls on the show whether it be the gender bend stuff or Flame princess.

I don't post much but WOW. THAT CLIFFHANGER.

I haven't been obsessed with the lore of a show since Lost. That ending was totally a season 5 cliffhanger - but with answers. Amazing. I can't wait for November 12th.

Whoa what episode is this? I don't remember that.

The entire genderflip has inspired an incredibly terrible fandom to com to life, but the main part is that Marshall Lee intensifies the whole Peebles/Marceline thing into Yaoi fangirl territory, which dooms them all to the ranks of terrible.

So I watched the episode again on demand. During the beginning with Finn's nightmare
after they show Finn laughing at the tv it cuts to Billy and for a split second he is the lich. Got it to pause right at the moment and it was freaky, lol. Probably doesn't mean anything more than what happened at the end of the episode, but yeah.

And I don't really knwo what is supposed to be spoilered, so did it just to be safe.
