I'm expecting Ward to come back around, though I wish that the show had the balls to stick to their guns and keep him Hydra. We'll see.
Well all we know is that the tesseract sucked him through some kind portal. They left themselves an out if they want to use him again, but the fact that Pierce wasn't the red skull (which in the comics his equivalent character was) suggests that they are going to leave him dead.
I'll wait to see the DVR numbers. Even with the TWS tin in being as strong as it is, I'm certain that quite a few viewers recorded this ep until they have time to watch the movie.
4.9 million watched last night episode
i have no idea how rating works
how people is need to watch a show every week to stay on the air ?
Sure but DVR viewers aren't making ABC any money.

DVR and online streaming actually matter a lot nowadays depending on the network, show, etc. It's saved quite a few low performers the past few years.Sure but DVR viewers aren't making ABC any money.

The last person we saw with the staff was Black Widow, she presumably turned it into SHIELD, which means she handed it over to Hydra.

Nope, it's a new series low for Agents of Shield.
Yes! Jackson and Smulders on this show.
[TWS]Small correction: Alexander Pierce is his own character in the comics, an agent of SHIELD with no HYDRA connections. You might be thinking of Aleksander Lukin, whose mind Red Skull inhabited. That said, there's definitely aspects of Lukin that were integrated into Pierce's character, so maybe that's what you were getting at in the first place.
I think that Hydra is an equal opportunity oppressor these days. They made the point in the first Captain America film that Hydra was breaking away from the Reich, and I imagine that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will not include any lingering Nazi ideology in Hydra going forward. I bet thatI often wondered what the recruiting is like for Hydra? I mean they are a Nazi based organization that doesn't give a shit about anyone below the council.

Neo-Nazis are kinda pathetic, to be honest.
It's like every rogue organization. They target the disillusioned members, ply them with promises of a promotion/a better world, use a high ranking officer to sell it, and then they're recruited.
Yeah, they're just opportunistic fascists now.I think that Hydra is an equal opportunity oppressor these days. 100% with false positives is safer than 50% correct with no false positives in this scenario. Lots of innocent people will end up dead yes, but it completely mitigates the risk. It's exactly the sort of decision that Victoria Hand would make.
Sadly, Hill coming back likely explains why this episode ended like it did. They fill a similar role.
I wonder if the lower ratings has to do with people avoiding the show until they had a chance to catch Winter Soldier?
This one kind of makes sense to me. They've made it very clear that watching this spoils Winter Soldier, so people may be waiting.
They can try to rationalize the low ratings all you want but if you hang your hat on a hot side character Loeb, then well I have a show on ghe CW to sell you. It's just not a viable strategy in the era of Facebook stalking. This one kind of makes sense to me. They've made it very clear that watching this spoils Winter Soldier, so people may be waiting.
Also limits the ability to sell the show in Germany.
Too little too late. Can't have brahs just waiting around for 16 episodes until the writers say "this is where it really starts, we just had to fill time until this!" I think ajeph is right though, I will keep watching because Simmons is beautiful.
I think ABC must be expecting it. Aren't they airing this week's episode again before next week's?
