Was it already mentioned in this thread that Garrett probably isn't the Clairvoyant? He was with them in the room while the "real" one was talking when Ward shot that helpless guy. I think Garrett is just HYDRA, working for the Clairvoyant.

Speculation on Maria Hill returning to the show, based on TWS:
she works at Stark now. She gets tapped to provide tech support for the Bus? Weapon upgrades, ammo for ICERs etc?

You purposely don't want people to avoid watching your show live. It sends a bad message to advertisers and lessens the value of your slot.

No but in this case, I suspect that the powers that be at ABC know that not every one will see Cap 2 opening weekend and they want to use the film's success to promote the show. It might be a risky move on their part but I get what they're going for.

Well that validated watching this show for so long.

I really want Ward to be authentically Hydra. But whatever his motivations, the look between he and Coulson does not prove that he's "working for Coulson as a double agent." Consider the scenarios:

A) He's really Hydra- In this case, Ward needs to manufacture a scenario to get himself on the plane, hence playing up the vengeance angle. My interpretation of the "wink" is that there was an offscreen conversation in which Ward convinced Coulson that he should keep an eye on Hand. And this all would play into Ward-as-evil, in that he could return to the team later and tell them whatever lie about Garrett/Hand that suits his goal.
B) He's infiltrating Hydra and Hand is dead- So under this theory, Coulson and Ward have an offscreen conversation in which Coulson tells Ward he needs to break Garrett out of Hand's custody. And either Coulson told Ward to do whatever is necessary (B1), or Ward made the call on his own and will redeem himself later through his own death (B2)?
C) He's infiltrating Hydra and Hand is alive- Here the variable is whether Ward and Hand cooked this up together(C1), or Coulson is involved (C2).

A is what I want to happen.
B1 is implausible.
B2 is plausible but cheesy.
C1 & C2 are plausible given the hijinks in the MCU, but I didn't get this feeling from the scene.

if I had to guess:
She's there to convert stark tower to avengers tower

I could've sworn I heard Garrett say "Welcome to Hydra" (possibly to Ward?) in the preview for the next episode. So Ward could really have just went double agent.

It isn't already? He put a giant A on it at the end of Avengers and it was still there during Winter Soldier.

Actually - all the letters of "STARK" fell off except for the A. :)

In Cap 2 you can see that the remaining A was changed from the Stark Industries font to the actual Avengers logo.

/nitpick

I wonder where they're going to get the money to pay for all the fuel they'll be using in that suped-up plane of theirs. Also, "patch up the holes"? I sure as shit would not want to get in a plane that has been as badly shot up as that one.

The A on the stark tower wasn't in the same place as it was at the end of the Avengers movie. It looked like it was intentionally moved to the far left.

I clearly missed it but it's been referenced online
that one of insight's targets showed avengers tower.

I just thought the A at the end of avengers was leftover from "STARK" and just never finished fixing it

Stumbled onto the show yesterday and decided to stick with it after seeing WS this past weekend. I had only seen 15 minutes of one episode before this and it felt like watching a cheap daytime soap with Marvel trimmings. This episode was more amped up and entertaining though, and I was curious to see how it would tie into Cap 2.

Will backtrack and check out some earlier eps on Hulu as I'm only just reading about who most of these characters are.

I'm guessing she's just gonna be used to explain
to Coulson that Fury is still alive and to tell him where to find him[

Any chance the viewer numbers failed to get a bump due to people avoiding spoilers if they intend to see TWS later on?

Still not idea from a marketing perspective, but they might be willing to take these kinds of hits for the synergy it adds to the overall universe.

I could have sworn that scene took place during the day. Or is the image of the Stark Tower being brought up on a screen?
Actually, was that the Arnim Zola bit?

When the
hellicarriers are targeting their objectives.
that's why it looks like a render instead of the actual building.

Thinking about it and given the state of the ratings and the MCU, I wonder if ABC should just retitle the show for next season. It would give them a chance to redebut it.

it's airing an hour later next week because they are doing an encore of this week's episode for those that didn't catch TWS opening weekend and didn't DVR.

Yep, they're clearly hoping that the TWS fallout is the key to winning back a significant portion of the many viewers who quit watching earlier this season, hence the two hours devoted to it next week.

It doesn't seem to be succeeding right now, but it's at least worth a shot.

And getting names from the movie...though Sam Jackson/Nick Fury is big

Not sure what... Hill brings to the show for the casual viewer

The shows been on a decline almost the entire run. The show losing ratings is pretty much in trend and not a good sign for the show. Your big hyped up event and you got a series low?

They were never going to get huge numbers for this episode. Not everyone rushes out to see an anticipated movie on opening weekend.

And this is irrelevant when it comes to ratings. No matter what they expect, it's not good ever to get shit ratings. The show is not in a position to get bad ratings, it's been on a downward spiral since the 2nd episode pretty much, and big event movie event failed to bring in numbers as well. Despite intentions, it's not something a network wants to be showing to it's advertisers.

It's a big hyped up event that occurs at the same time/after a movie that you have to pay to see. And the event is advertised as the fallout from that movie. There was promo for it everywhere, so I'm sure even the average viewer got the message beforehand. ABC had to have expected people to hold off.
