Alan is in the dark place and showing too much of that would spoil that.....and his gameplay is gonna be similar if not exactly the same.
Saga is new which is why they are previewing her.

The first one, even with its problems, had unique vibe and presence. This one feels more like Remedy saying "let's just rip-off RE4 and The Evil Within".

Ok, I'm sold. The earlier footage looked fine, but didn't seem like much of a step up from the first game. It was mostly over the shoulder in the forest stuff, which just seemed like the first game with better graphics.

It seems like there will be a good amount of variety while keeping the tone of the original game intact. This looks like a very proper sequel in pretty much every way. Hyped

Everything looks fantastic other than the fucking puzzles. Dont have them in every fucking room. Thats what made me not finish RE2Remake. Too many goddamn puzzles

Not at all watching that video as ALAN WAKE was a game I absolutely LOATHED in its opening hours, but halfway between I started to realize: "This is all entirely on purpose" and it became easily one of my favorite "survival horror" games. Glad to hear at least Alan's story will continue that, with a more "down to earth" tone for this lady-cops stuff.

. . .beyond that, why spoil ANYTHING about how these two interact if you know you're going to pick this one up?

We don't really know though. They've said they are going a more resident evil route but we've still seen the shine the light and shoot the bad guy mechanic.

It's current day so the strong, independent black lady is the first box that needs to be checked before you start any project. But don't worry, Alan will be there too so yay i suppose.

The Dark Presence doesn't even seem like a big threat. The Hiss were definitely a Planetary level threat. They couldn't be allowed into our dimension.

In theory if the Dark Presence was to leave the Dark Place it would fully manifest and be a truly fearsome foe.
In my theory the reason the Hiss is as it is, is so that Alan can gauge if Jesse would actually be strong enough to defeat the Presence.
As is right now, its this powerful while effectively in prison in the Dark Place.

Alan Wake is about due for a replay. It's getting near the right time of year to play it.

With Alan Wake 2, I almost don't want to watch too much (if any) footage of the game. Not that I don't have confidence that Remedy is keeping the most important, best parts under wraps, but I do want to go into AW2 as fresh as possible.

Yes. Especially if you understand that everything you think is "goofy" and campy as shit is absolutely by design.

. . .an easier recommend would be: did you like CONTROL? If so, you should be able to dig AW1.

Yeah same here. It was a little bit too 'WTF' for my liking. I enjoyed breaking every fourniture, glass etc.. in this game at least ^^

Shooting gameplay was said to be boring in aw1 but playing it now it's the best part along with the setting. Crowd control with light is fun, but sprinting could last for longer and dodge should be faster.

Great game, don't put too hours in one go, as it can become a bit repetitive, avoid the dlc stuff, becomes a shooting gallery in them.
