Alan Wake 2 hands-on preview

Dualsense adds a lot.
In AW1, you have a stop half way on the left trigger before flashlight battery usage triggers.
Not to mention all the amazing haptics.

Yes. I take immersion and playing the game over selling my souls for 4$ less on fucking epic.

Better resolution and framerate on pc? Sure but I don't care. Not sure my pc is up to the task anyway
I was talking about the dude with a 4090 :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Bought it and downloaded it. New version came out like 12 hours ago, thats most likely the day 1 update.

Launch trailer went up accidentally on youtube, managed to watch it before it went private. We eating in 2 days.

I really wanna root for this game but I'm baffled at the decision to go with dual protagonists. Remedy should give the female FBI agent her own game if they are confident in the character. That way we get twice as much Alan Wake in Alan Wake 2. What is it with developers today gerrymandering single protagonist, single perspective franchises with ensemble casts? It's particularly egregious when the main character has to split screen time down the middle in their own franchise.

Seriously,

When I play Spider-Man 2 I wanna play as Peter Parker…
When I play Alan Wake 2 I wanna play as Alan Wake…

Who cares about Saga Anderson or Miles Morales? Give them their own games if you think they will sell.
Maybe you should... you know... play the fucking game before doing such criticism? I won't talk for Spider Man since I haven't tried it. But you criticism for AW II is just not necessary and unjustified.
Because I can tell you this is an Alan Wake game. Not Saga.

Spare me the sanctimony. What is it with people like you, huh? I am allowed to take issue with current gaming industry trends am I not? My belief is that split protagonists generally dilute the overall gaming experience; that it is an unnecessary bait and switch, and that it is used to push uninteresting, non-compelling characters into the fold. Are there exceptions, of course, I am not speaking in absolutes. Given Alan Wake 2 is not titled 'Sometimes Alan wake' or 'Alan Wake and Friends', it is reasonable for some fans to take issue. The real question is why you feel a need to act as the arbiter of what can and cannot be criticised? How can you tell me this is an Alan Wake game and not a Saga Anderson game? Have you played it? The devs themselves have indicated the split to be 50%. If that is true, and we are indeed only getting 50% screen time of Alan Wake in a game titled Alan Wake 2 then wouldn't you agree that is a problem?

But what trend? Because this happened in 2 games released this month? We know Remedy is a very talented studio when it comes to storytelling, so maybe you should wait a bit and play the game? If you are a fan of the first game, you definitively want to play AW II.

I understand that this might seem strange, but Saga is here for a reason. And even when we don't control Alan, the whole story revolves around him. It IS Alan Wake II.

Yeah sorry, it wasn't my intention to sound like an asshole. It's just that I've seen this criticism a few times and it perplexes me. People make assumptions without trying the game or giving it a chance.
As for your other question, the only thing I can say is that I participated in a Remedy playtest last month.

Yup
Dualsense wins for my money too
