There's always room for reasonable doubt but I've seen Pearce around on various shows and podcasts and she doesn't strike me as someone who'd fabricate this kind of stuff. And as someone who's seen the leaks and seen reactions from anti-SJWs who dislike the game (for any number of reasons), I wouldn't be surprised if there's at least one out there who'd react this way, genuinely. SJWs have their crazies, so do anti-SJWs.

Again, though. I've seen them on other streams and podcasts, and they don't strike me as the kind of person to just fabricate this type of thing for drama or pity points. If it were someone like Anita I'd understand the concern and would definitely have reservations given past episodes with her, but this isn't her.

This is exactly the case. People on here jumping the gun and using it as a way to just shit on other gamers without a shred of evidence. And as you say even if they are real, you don't become a public figure in any industry without empty 'threats'. But you can band together all the guys trying to white knight and virtue signal and score more attention by announcing yourself as the victim.

Anyone knows back in the late 90's early 00's this shit happened all the time and they are empty threats from edgy kids. Maybe there could be a middle-man or 3rd party between streamers and the audience? Some kind of virtual bouncers. I don't know how it would work, Maybe selective interactment like a book signing or film premier, where the streamers do an AMA once a month/week/quarter.

The reason why this wouldn't work would be that their subscriber numbers would plummet.

In some ways it's kind of funny that the most secure and safe way to have a protected "space" for you and your audience would be to charge a membership fee and exclude anyone who doesn't pay up.
