That one occurred to me after I responded to you, but it's such a strange cameo I'm not sure how they'll explain it.

I think it's intended to be the same woman (or maybe an ancestor, shoehorned into the timeline) but not captain America 2099 per se.

Universe 8 Miguel is the one from 616, not the one in secret wars and so is the 2099 that exists...or did exist, before it got wiped.

When 2099 comes back there may be changes. Who knows, maybe the SW 2099 will be the canon version. God knows the rest of that continuity was a clusterfuck, Spiderman aside.

SM 2099 1 revealed something is up. Miguel feels like he saw her before.

Same Old Ant Man is still awesome. Featuring Hench, an Uber-like app that allows you to find the most appropriate villain around you to take a cape down.

To no one's surprise, Karnak was already more interesting in one issue than 95% of recent Inhumans books combined. It will probably last six issues.

I liked Iron-Man, it's fun, but the pacing is suuuppper slooooow. And Bendis is the last guy I want to see writing Doom after Hickman.

It really was great. Warren Ellis killed that issue. It's up there with Aaron's Doctor Strange as the best ANAD book so far.

I enjoyed Uncanny Inhumans but goddamn people are lobbing the 'race traitor' insults around online so much you would think they were actual mutants or some shit.

Karnak And Uncanny Inhumans really didn't do it for me. Karnak felt too slow and just when we were getting to the action it ends. Inhumans' dialogue was too much exposition focus. Also I didn't really like the art.

Really? That's sad.

I'm always amazed at how touchy hardcore X-Men fanboys are. It's pretty sad.

Karnak was pretty good, agree with it being too slow though. Thought the art was lovely.

Uncanny Inhumans was so much better than Soule's previous Inhuman series. I liked the art but all the NuHumans seem to have aged by about 5 years rather than 9 months or whatever.

I think he seems to be taking the character to a very logical direction coming off Hickman. It seems like Secret Wars is really going to impact Doom on more than just a surface level and I can't say I was expecting that. I really enjoyed him in this month's issue.

I'm more concerned with who will reintroduce the F4 and how they'll do it.

I like the idea of that character development. Hell, if he's still around after SW, it makes sense to go into that direction. I just didn't care much for the execution.

Too much banter, I guess. I'm okay with Doom going beyond his anti-hero status, but he didn't come across as a guy who would say "Doom is no man's second choice". He just seemed less flamboyant. Even if Doom was trying to be a hero, I'd picture him more like Namor I guess (whenever Namor is a good guy).

But yeah, I'm glad he's still around because he's just a great character.

As for FF, I agree. Then again, I haven't found the various post-Hickman volumes particularly good. I like Fraction and Robinson but their FF didn't work.
Hell, I don't even know if Sue or 616 Reed will make it to the other side of Secret Wars. For all we know, there might be no FF for a good while.

I don't think we'll have to wait too long for their return, regardless of how SW ends. (As an aside, o choose not to entertain silly tinfoil hat theories about how Marvel is tanking the book to spite Fox.)

If the companion book to Iron Man does turn out to be a Doom solo, I imagine he'll be the one to find them.

I hear Bendis actually incorporated continuity in this week's issue.

I liked Karnak but the use of his powers broke my suspension of disbelief. It's one thing to see the flaw in everything, it's another to act on it. Chopping a head off with two fingers, really?

He saw the flaw in not being super strong.

Ant Man was ok, I do like to see where the Hench App arc goes, sucks
Cassie is confirmed to be depowered and Scott is in jail again.

Iron Man, too much talking but it's a good follow up to the first issue.

Wonder how long that'll last. He made some decent references Guardians continuity before he shot a torpedo into that and it became super apparent he had no idea who any of these characters were before the movie trailer, and didn't care, even when writing a direct sequel to one of those storylines.

Got done with classes early today: looking forward to working through this week's stack. Spider-Man first.

Well bas Inhumans are stronger then athletic humans. That and comicbook marital artists be crazy. There is a dude that learned how to travel dimensions by mastering a martial art.

I heard he got Prowler as a sidekick. So he's got a Rhodey huh?

He came back to life by finding the flaw in death, nothing should surprise anyone anymore.

When people are talking about how they've turned Spidey into a classic Iron Man, they aren't kidding. Dude's running a multinational business, constantly going on about his business ethics and trying to only sell his work to the right people, claiming Spider-Man is just his bodyguard, and now he's even got his own Rhodey that he builds suits for so that he can be alternate-colorscheme Spider-Man.

I'm really enjoying it so far, though- this is the most fun I've had with a Slott Spidey book since Ends of the Earth. Granted, the last relaunch was pretty okay, aside from the Black Cat stuff, too- so I'll ride this out and hope that it holds together.

Edit: Oh man, this Ends of the Earth callback in this week's Spider-Man is fantastic.

Not sure how I feel about Rhino still being alive. Like obviously Silver Sable wasn't supposed to stay dead, but the whole reason Rhino joined Doc Ock in Ends of the Earth is because he was trying to die, and figured he may as well die helping Ock kill as many people as possible out of spite. It's kinda weird to see that, in the aftermath of his attempted murder-suicide, he decided to keep going.

I imagine him using his flaw ability to get in and out the Inhuman's DMZ in five minutes and using it to pick up chicks.

So now there seem to be 3 plots going on in the background of Amazing Spider-Man.
Probably Norman gathering another Sinister Six, Otto in love, and that guy that loves jokes.
I thought the 3rd part would be handled on the 1.x stuff, but that seems to be focusing on smaller time thugs or something.
Wonder if they'll intersect or if they'll be done separately.

Karnak was pretty great. I liked it a lot, seems like a good match for Ellis. But boy, Karnak doesn't lighten up ever, does he?

Alright, finished this week's books:

Karnak #1
Probably my favorite of the week. Did a great job establishing who Karnak is and why I should care as someone who never cared about Inhumans, didn't read most of Inhumanity, and missed his resurrection entirely. The way he's using his powers are ridiculous, and I really dig it, and I love the artstyle. I'm still not too hot on the way SHIELD has been presented for the past few years, slowing making it more and more into a carbon copy of the MCU version, but I liked Coulson and Karnak's interactions here well enough. Looking forward to where it goes from here.

Iron Man #2
What the fuck? If this didn't constantly have characters repeating lines of dialogue at each other, I wouldn't believe this was really a Bendis book. There are discernibly different voiced characters! Not only is past canon mentioned accurately without retcons, it's done in a relatively natural feeling way! Plus, the art continues to look fantastic, and Tony's new suit is still pretty neat looking. Maybe it's just how low my expectations have become for a book written by Bendis, but I can't get over just how good this actually was.

Uncanny Inhumans #1
I thought this one was just okay. Focusing on two different groups of Inhumans, most of which are new characters, is going to be tough- I don't have a reason to really care about any of them already, and they don't seem to have much screentime in order to make me care. I really liked Beast's involvement, and am looking forward to that in the future, but Johnny's involvement is really turning me off of the book. Marvel's refusal to let characters have stable, happy relationships is awful. The back-up was way more fun than the main book, actually.

Astonishing Ant-Man #1
This was a weaker start than I expected, after how much I enjoyed Captain America last week, and how good the last volume of Ant-Man and Superior Foes were. The villain pitch for this was really great though, and I'm sure it'll pick back up.

I'm honestly disappointed they never had Miles (or whoever from the Ultimate universe) refer to 616 as "that dimension where everyone's always yelling."

While i'll check out another issue or 2, i thought he was an awful character. If life is so pointless why doesn't he just kill himself. Dude just seems like an A-1 Asshole.

He already did that. He got better because he has things to do.

I like Karnak but I really have to question why they're even bother going to him for help, the minute he starts asking for
1 million USD and starts verbally abusing the parents
is the moment SHIELD should have just said fuck it.

Also Uncanny Inhumans shows that they're doing same thing
for free
so?

I kept waiting for Coulson to tell him to piss off.
