no.

2099 was retconned into being the canon future of 616 marvel during spiderverse. it's not an alternate world- its 616 (or universe 8, i guess) 84 years from now

At the moment it's no longer "valid" and has been replaced by "future imperfect" (where the maestro comes from) due to something miguel does in the present with liz allen.

so I hear Nick Spencer is getting death threats over his Captain America?

Damn that's all the proof you need that he's doing good work, in one issue he's got me fully on board Sam Cap where as before I didn't really a shit about him.

Why does he wear the mask!?

Doesnt even surprise me

Is there a decent resource for reading up on the current state of ANAD? I obviously didn't read all of SW but would like to get caught up on a bunch of that stuff. Or is it totally unnecessary?

Totally unnecessary. We have had no explanation of why some heroes are around minding their own business, and no take back to Secret Wars. If something needs to be explained, it will be in the current runs.

Carol Danvers as she soars to new heights in her greatest mission yet—leader of the all-new Alpha Flight space program. Yup, Alpha Flight

I am dying here

Come on not even Marvel can keep a straight face with Carol

Just read today's comics.

Spider-man and Iron Man are still great.

Uncanny Inhumans was nice but the other Inhumans comics seems to be more interesting.

The "bad guy app" in Ant-Man was weird but it'll maybe bring cool fights.

Sooo many books...

And I'm assuming that if you want to read these via Marvel unlimited, none of them will be available for another 6 months, right?

Whoa what? Which book is this in?
I loved SW2099, and am super interested in a continuation.

EDIT: Also, SMH at all these people being down on America Chavez dancing to close a gap in space-time, that was great.

Going by the solicits, Old Man Logan's mission is to make sure his future doesn't happen and another Avengers book
will have a time-travelling Avengers team trying to make sure their future doesn't happen.
I really hoped they'd stop relying on that trope and introduce so many alt possible futures after Secret Wars but here we are.

It is a bit wierd for so many timelines to converge at one point.

I liked it better when each future timeline was actually its own universe. They've screwed the pooch recently on that, around the time the original X-Men got transported to the future.

While we're on the subject

Did they ever explain what it was that Fury Sr. whispered to Thor that made him become unworthy? Or is that just not ever gonna be addressed

OG Thor can't lift the hammer anymore, so Jane Foster currently wields the Mjølnir as Thor. Star-Lady is just Kitty Pride, I think.

And Kitty and the original Star Lord are to be married. He is currently not running around as Star Lord because he being a King of a planet at the moment.

That one occurred to me after I responded to you, but it's such a strange cameo I'm not sure how they'll explain it.

I think it's intended to be the same woman (or maybe an ancestor, shoehorned into the timeline) but not captain America 2099 per se.

Universe 8 Miguel is the one from 616, not the one in secret wars and so is the 2099 that exists...or did exist, before it got wiped.

When 2099 comes back there may be changes. Who knows, maybe the SW 2099 will be the canon version. God knows the rest of that continuity was a clusterfuck, Spiderman aside.
