Amazon Prime increase price from $120 a year to $140 a year. And monthly goes up too

I turned off auto-renew last year. Every year it surprises me and I kept forgetting. I've had it since it was $60 a year, and I don't use it or its services enough to justify the price any more. My sub should run out this month.

Good thing I stopped being a Prime Member, or even using Amazon altogether.

Prime is such a trap. Since you have it, you of course want to use it to get your money's worth, so you stop buying from anybody else. So glad to be free of it.

Still worth it to me. I live in an area with same day/one day shipping for most things. I haven't been to a mall or a B&M store in months.

Well, I think I will keep it - because that Amazon credit card cashback really does pay off for me - more than the actual sub cost.

Also I do have some other sub and save going on - which gives additional 5-15% discount on stuff that I'd buy anyway.

But it is true that most things that I buy are on Amazon these days anyways... that I am indeed trapped lol.

Thinking of buying a couple years of “gift prime” at the current rate. It’s only $20 more so it seems kinda silly though.

Sick of Amazon, turned off auto renewal on mine as well. Nothing comes in 2 days anymore, I actually get things faster from walmart.

Heads up....

If you're paying the normal monthly fee, which I think is $12.99, it will go up $2 a month.

If you're paying the reduced fee (that is for EBT recipients and I think students) of $5.99 a month, it will go up by $1 a month.

I called and spoke with a customer representative at Amazon and he confirmed all this.

Is the 2-day shipping really gone? Or are we talking about the 2-day shipping guarantee? I still get plenty of orders within 2 days, and a lot of stuff even the very next day. There have been a small number of orders (5% or less) that have taken like 3 days or so.

Hmm, my annual renewal is before that March 24th date for old subscribers, maybe I'll stick around for another year.

Dammit bezos, yah got me!!!!!

Not gone, just not nearly as reliable nowadays anymore.

Canceled few months back. Shipping is much slower for most items now than it was 2-5 years ago. Things that I would get with 2 hour/ same day/or next day delivery are now 3-5 days. Refunds take longer. Customer service has also gone downhill.

The one thing I wish Amazon would fix is their fake reviews. It's kind of amazing that Amazon allow sellers to get away with putting up obvious bullshit.

In Europe it's still 50€ per year I think. We buy absurd amount of things from Amazon, so it's a no-brainer. Would have loved to give my business to some other company but the return policy can't be beat.

I got out when it was hitting $100. I did like some other people in here said and used it way too much just to get my worth out of it. I bought cheap items I didn’t need just because I could. Now that a new Amazon warehouse is open literally 20 minutes away from me, I just use their free shipping for orders over $25 (no subscription needed for that) and items get here in 1-2 days anyway with the benefit of that $25 keeping me mentally away from ordering stuff I don’t need.

I get the upset side but it works the way I want it to for me.

I get 1 day stuff all the time. I ordered a 2tb NVME and antenna roof mount yesterday and they'll be here today.

2 day shipping is always available unless it's a specific item from 3rd party or just stuff happens.

Put me in the crowd that also doesn't use any or their services other than mainly the video side for maybe the occasional Peppa Pig.

My wife already cancelled ours. We don't use any of their streaming stuff and honestly the prices aren't much better or actually worse than a Target order or Costco...and I'm probably much less likely to impulse buy things now.

I greatly enjoy Prime Video and use Prime Delivery all the time. Saves time when I'm working, or simply don't give a shit and want someone else to do the work for me. Inflation is real, gotta get used to it. And so it goes.

I've never paid for prime and I never will. And I try to minimize Amazon usage in general. I love to keep as much as possible to local small businesses. It's almost a fantasy ideal at this point, but we can try.

I have no issue with this.. I get a lot of value out of prime bother from ordering and utilizing the video services..
this is like less than $12 a month, which is still a bargain to me.

That LOTR serie could be the reason...also Amazon video movies are improving...not mutch but they are bleeding cash on recognized actors...saddly the scrips are lame..

Unless you are absolutely constantly ordering small things…. It’s just not worth it. (Unless you watch all the shows… in that case.::: knock yourself out)

Mine renews next week so I have the renew before the hike. I'll have to reconsider next year, though. I'm really not sure if it is worth it or not. I use the video once in a while but even then fairly rare. Music once in a while. I do occasionally use the Whole Foods discount, which does make up for quite a bit. Shipping has been hit or miss on speed, and I live directly across the Potomac from where they're building HQ2.
