Amazon Prime increase price from $120 a year to $140 a year. And monthly goes up too

Amazon Prime is probably the best offer I ever had. In France, it's €49 (about $56) by year. But it includes one free Twitch Prime by month... and I subscribe to one Twitch Channel (OTP) every month, which cost me €4.99 by month before I had Amazon Prime. So with Prime, I spare $10 every year... and I have free games, free shipping and Prime Video. Amazing value, especially when I compare it to Netflix ($322.90/year).

It feels like it was $80 a year not that long ago. Let's call it the good old days, when the service was great, the prices were good and Prime was a great deal. I wish they would decouple streaming from everything else. I really do not care for their store anymore. Streaming is ok and could be worth it alone if it were at a decent price, like $5 a month.

I don't know if I should cancel or not. I've been shopping on amazon more these days and I do watch shows on prime a couple of times a month.

Not true at all, even here in Ohio all prime items come either the same day or within 2 days of ordering at no extra fee.
Well here it isn't happening anymore on most orders. I have a distribution center 30 minutes away.

Everything is going up. I paid 21 bucks for a haircut yesterday before tip. I do use Amazon a ton so I'll probably keep it but I'm not happy about it!

I've barely used Amazon at all since they changed the minimum spend for free postage from £10 to £20. Now I probably make 1 or 2 purchases a year, if that. Prime is a scam.

Prime is still worth it for us. We get deliveries all the time and shipping has been mostly 1 day for most items for us. Sometimes it's 2 days and occasionally (usually a 3rd party or out of stock issue) it's longer. We did have about a month period last year where shipping g was 5-6 days for prime items but that went away after a month. I tried Walmart Plus at that time and Prime beats it hands down.

The price increase doesn't bother me that much.

€ 2,99 to be exact. € 2,49 if you only want the streaming service.

And I'm still considering canceling it.
Yeah as soon as the inevitable price increase hits I'm outta there lol. Primevideo is kind of dreadful when it comes to their offering and half the time when they do have something I'd want to watch it's behind another paywall so yeah... Aside from the occasional thing I order on Amazon with Prime shipping and what not it's really not worth it.

Yeah, they kinda sneaked that in there, didn't they, or at least that's what it seems like. We've been auto-renewing for years now, and I feel like they hiked it up already a year or two ago. Before, it made sense to us because we order enough off of there to justify negating shipping on most items, and the Prime entertainment was just an added bonus. But I'm not sure it's gonna be worth it to continue after this year.

I still remember it being $50 a month. It of course offers a lot more now. But like everything else, I think this is most likely due to the past two years of the pandemic. Online shopping was at it's peak and will only go up at this point. Most consumers that weren't already making most of their purchases online now realize the convenience of online shopping. This puts way more pressure on a online outlet like Amazon.

My question is, what will improve with Amazon, quicker shipping and deliveries, better service, new features, reward system, etc.

Or is this to pay for their venture into making all electric delivery vehicles?

Sucks it's going up service is getting slightly worse on same day delivery for groceries and they're charging a mandatory $9 on all orders whereas same day delivery was free on orders above $35. Still worth it but hard to stomach when Amazon treats their workers like shit to make Bezos trillions.

I think I'll try Walmart+. I hear they are better for smaller purchases which I make more often anyway even though everyone hates Walmart.

Hardly ever shop there anymore. Don't even remember the last time I actually paid for prime. It's been a long time. I can get most things local and don't have to set foot in the store as they'll bring it out to the car.

People might bitch on Amazon but let's be honest here - their customer service is unmatched. Super easy returns (I print my adhesive labels at the post office machine), no question asked, always available via chat/phone. I am sure a lot of people buy due to that.

Its 70 something Euro for me a year. If they dont step up their availability of prime movies but raise the price i will get rid of it.

Still worth it for me. Having stuff I need show up from Amazon instead of having to go to a store saves me so much time. I'd easily spend more that 140 bucks a year in shipping costs.

If I cancel prime will Alexa still whisper sweet nothings in my ear as I fall asleep?

Or is she a jealous vengeful bitch that will deliberately mess up all my orders from then on and call SWAT on me if I dare utter the word "global thermonuclear war"?

Dammit, why can't I upload pics anymore? Anyway, use your imagination
