Right now, Threadsen is my number one suspect for Bloody Faces. A shame since he genuinely seems to want to help (as fucked up as the conversion/aversion therapy is).

I like that Jude is starting to put the pieces together... but I've got a bad feeling that by the end of the season she'll be in a straitjacket herself :(

Her scene with Kit near the end of the episode was fantastic though. I think that was the first time Jude was... kind to one of the patients. It was a lovely scene and those two actors did fantastic with it.

I absolutely love Lange's character this season, but I have no doubt that things will end badly for her. She's certainly no angel, but I don't think she is the evil character the beginning of this season betrayed her as. I really like what Murphy did with that, making Lange seem totally evil but put together in a way that she won't easily be taken down at first. In reality, Jude is constantly in a state of extreme guilt about what she did, and she hates herself for it. She is slowly falling apart, and I really like how the show is slowly revealing that. Not everything goes according to her plan, and Arden has turned out to be much more evil.

It would make more sense if its the pastor, but I think it would be more "shocking" for it to be Threadsen.

My wife likes to pretend she doesn't care about this show, but 3 times today she's brought up how we have to watch it tonight because of the Bloody Face reveal.

The scene in his house kind of reminded me of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The basement "kill room" even looked similar.

I'm confused.

I don't get the Anne Frank stuff. She was really an actress with a baby? Why did they play the weird music and why were the scenes showing her "past life" so strange? :p

Also, was that sister Jude in present day sluttin' it up?

I'm assuming that was a reference to a show or movie, but I have no idea what.

But anyway, she went crazy (probably post-partum depression) and became obsessed with all of that. She picked up on Arden though because he was in some of her clippings.

And yeah, Jude cracked and gave up her calling.

Alright, thanks. At first I thought that he was an alien that brainwashed her. :p The music was very alien-like. I like that they went with that style though, even though it confused me. It was cool.

And yeah, I was confused about the Jude thing because in the previews it appears she
returns to the Asylum in full nun clothing

AHHHHH the eye hammer lobotomy thing. Gah, I keep forgetting how many close-ups and blood and stuff Ryan Murphy does and I love him for it but that squicked me. I hate things being so close to my eye/peoples eyes like that. D:

So do we know who Bloody Faces is yet? I won't watch till Saturday.

Possibly. It's a running theory at the moment.

Anyway:

Sister Jude going back to her old ways is :(.

Annie Frank is telling the truth. Why else would they
zoom in on the close-up of the Hitler picture that showed a dude, possibly her husband
at the end. You have to remember that Sister Jude went to the investigator dude and
they showed a nazi emblazoned book on his stand near the mirror, linking him to the Monsignor/Priest and Arden/whatever his German/real name is.

DAT PREVIEW. Shit is gonna be getting real next week.

Sister Jude visited a Nazi hunter

Wait, what? I didn't really see it like that. I guess you could interpret the whole secrecy thing like that but why would they
show a nazi book and hint that he may be connected to Arden?
I mean that's what I took from that shot.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think, as a previous poster suggested, that she is crazy, but she recognized Arden from a newspaper clipping she had?

Also how is Bloody Face's identity still a theory?

Yes, but that looks nothing like Arden to me. So why else would they zoom in? If it was supposed to be Arden they needed a better person that looked like him/more photoshop time because I didn't get an Arden vibe from it. I got a "oh shit, it's the husband" vibe.

You ruined the ability to not spoil the reveal to the poster that asked. Damn you. :|

That was young Arden. Remember the timeline we're looking at. Her husband is way too young.

Those were items to go along with the pictures on the wall. He was a concentration camp survivor.

I just kinda assumed it was Arden. Also, don't come in this thread if you don't want to get spoiled. :p
Sorry!

Loved this episode, though some of the camera work was getting on my nerves. Love this season so much more than the first.

They zoomed in to explain how the crazy woman was able to piece together that Arden was a Nazi without having actually been in a concentration camp. Plus, the flashbacks in the previous episode showed Arden looking exactly like he did in that newspaper photo.

Bloody Face is the ugly dog from the first season. Shit, my bad.

The ugly dog being it would explain everything. Who the hell would buy a dog like that (outside of Ratsky). Little rat thing.

WW2 was 1939-1945. Asylum storyline is 1960(?), it wouldn't be too far a stretch for her husband to be in WW2. Maybe looking too young, but not outside of the realm of possibility.

I dunno, the camerawork suggested different from what you're telling me, to me. But that's just me.

If that is the case, why would the husband just leave the rest of the photos she took down just laying there? You'd think he'd put them in the box to throw away as well (yes, I know this is a stupid question because "LOL TV AND WE HAVE TO SHOW THIS FOR TWIST!/REVEALS!" but I can't just suspend my disbelief for this)

I'm not saying you guys are wrong, it's just what the camera work leads me to believe. If you add in "Annie"'s film reel scenes, it just screams "this is a fake suggestion like Kit murdering his wife is a fake suggestion and we're all connected to Arden" to me.

Also what the fuck is happening with those people who shot Adam Levine and his girlfriend? When are we gonna get an update on that?

1970's

And don't be ridiculous, the husband doesn't clean.

Ah, right. So I'm off a decade. What's a 20-30 year difference? :p

And don't be ridiculous, the husband doesn't clean.

Only because he made Annie into a creepy 1950-era housewife in that scene. Lord knows he probably did when she was at the asylum.

I saw the Bloody Face reveal from a mile away, but I still thought it played out really well. I knew they were going to throw in some Saw type horror.

I couldn't help but laugh at Shelly hissing and climbing up the stairs at the school. I wonder if it was supposed to be funny? It didn't help that the teacher and the kids were all screaming in the hammiest way possible.

I'm assuming that was a reference to a show or movie, but I have no idea what.

You mean the ending with Anne Frank acting all perfect? Wasn't that a riff on The Stepford Wives?

AHHHHH the eye hammer lobotomy thing.

Is that how lobotomies are really administered? Through the eye socket? wtfff

Bloody Face is the ugly dog from the first season.

Seriously, they've been absent for two weeks in a row. What's up with that?

I need a shower. Great episode. I didn't watch last season, but this show just goes all out and doesn't hold back the creepiness or weirdness. It's kind of trashy, but in a good, shameless way.

A theory on the "grainy TV" filter when it was used during the Anne stuff... notice that the only time after the backstory that it is used is when she tells her husband "I've never been happier". If the viewer doesn't believe her, everything else that uses the same video filter ALSO becomes questionable. It's a great cinematography trick to show without telling.
