American Horror Story: Asylum |OT| Nuns, and nazis, and scares! Oh, my!

watched episodes 1 and 2 last night. pretty good so far, leagues ahead of the first season but then I didn't particularly like the family in the first season, so any changes where always going to be a positive for me.

the setting is incredibly well done, very foreboding and atmospheric / the right hint of scary and oppressive but at the same time welcoming. the new characters are really interesting, the doctor especially is one to keep an eye on as well as the sister he's taken a liking to.

haven't seen enough of other characters to make a proper judgement, but they seem to suit their roles well.

one last thing, the alien abduction plot is actually pretty cool, I hope the pay off is good and not some random experiment conducted by army types or someone.

I wonder if Lana didn't go snooping around Zachary Quinto's house whether he would have let her go. He did after all want her to tell his story.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Apparently many tumblr fangirls were crushing and had the hots for
Dr. Thredson.
So they are now in total shock after that latest episode. It's always the good-looking one, girls.

They should just give the Emmy to Jessica Lange now.

It sucks cuz she's a really good actress but every time she goes into one of her big monologues she's practically BEGGING for an Emmy. It's like she's a hobo on the street panhandling for Emmys. It sucks that her performances are both really good and so goddamn obnoxious at the same time.

she'll still probably get another Emmy...

I knew Threadson was suspect. Him being billed first kind of made it obvious (to me anyway) that his role on the show was more than what was being lead on so far

Episode wasn't nearly as good as episode 2. Don't know what that tweet was talking about

We didn't set this record due to conflicts but I caught the first episode the other day via On Demand. Poor Adam Levine... at least she didn't bite his dick off too or something. That seems like a route they may have gone.

Looks like a pretty fun season. I liked the set up.

If that is the case, why would the husband just leave the rest of the photos she took down just laying there? You'd think he'd put them in the box to throw away as well (yes, I know this is a stupid question because "LOL TV AND WE HAVE TO SHOW THIS FOR TWIST!/REVEALS!" but I can't just suspend my disbelief for this)

I'm not saying you guys are wrong, it's just what the camera work leads me to believe. If you add in "Annie"'s film reel scenes, it just screams "this is a fake suggestion like Kit murdering his wife is a fake suggestion and we're all connected to Arden" to me.

The woman took the pics down, not the husband. Also, look at the picture again, it's the actor that plays Arden, not the husband. Besides, if the husband were a Nazi, why would he talk to Arden as if he had no idea who he was? Also, you're not willing to suspend your disbelief that they left a newspaper clipping on the wall but you are willing to do so for the idea that woman is really Anne Frank?

Fantastic episode, really what this season needed to kickstart things. It's been fun to watch, but it's needed to ramp up badly for a few episodes.

What if when the possessed kid told Thredson (paraphrasing) "I'm glad I gave you up" and we assumed that it was channeling his mother it was actually talking as the demon and Thredson is possessed as well by some child of the devil type thing?

Lana Winters is really having a hell of a bad luck streak going on right now. I'm assuming they have to keep her alive, though. What with the whole 'tell my story' situation, and the fact that they have just dragged her through so much shit.

I admit, when that small girl saw Shelley and screamed I laughed my ass off. Then when the teacher came over and also screamed I laughed even harder.

It's actually the actors son, but that's why they look so alike.

This was a touch I never forgot and something that made me suspicious throughout the whole series thus far. Looks like it was true.

We will probably get back story throughout the series now that the identity is cleared up. I would've rathered bloody face to be a woman though, just to mix things up.

Someone mentioned him ripping something from Ed Gein. Murphy already stated that Bloody Face is a combination of three infamous serial killers.

Murphy did an interview saying the next episode is the darkest yet and for us to ponder this: why do the aliens only appear shortly after Kit
has had sex?

This made me LOL so hard. I always felt the same way about watching her I just couldn't put to words what you just did.

Yeah the speech Lange was giving was definitely Emmy bait. Her ending speech of the first season (where she's at the hairdresser) was her begging for that Emmy too.

I did think the squirrel speech was a tad over the top but the drunk one a few weeks ago was pretty amazing.

I'm loving this season, but damn, does anything good happen to anyone? Geez, at least give someone a little hope. Poor Lana.

I thought the same exact thing once the scene with the security guard started, lol. She is a great actress though.

True, her speech during the thunderstorm episode was awesome.

Poor Shelley, just getting dumped into the street like a piece of trash. Arden really did a number on her. Watching this show reminds me how cruel some medical techniques were back in the day.

I also wonder had Lana not started poking around the house would Dr. Thredson not done anything to her? Ehh, she was probably doomed no matter what. The ads for the show gave that part away though, her screaming. I'm watching the show and that part hadn't aired yet and by that point she arrived at Thredson's place. I knew something was probably going to happen...

the storm speech was great. squirrel speech got on my nerves.

never suspected Threadson at all. legit shocked at the reveal.
i thought it was cool to see ZQ just play a straight role rather than being a psycho for once.

I think ZQ wanted her to live so she could tell his story. Otherwise why bother springing her loose from the asylum.

She also believed Kit to be a mass-murdering psychopath. She sacrificed her own happiness in a (misguided) effort to save other people.

<3 Lana.
She's an idiot. She's trapped in this horrible place, against her will, run by unscrupulous people, and it never once occurs to her that just maybe he doesn't belong there either?

Like I said I have no sympathy for her. I did before that incident but not after. She can get turned into a lamp for all I care (but I doubt they'll kill her off that quick.)

Except that clearly most of the people there, at least on the outside, DO deserve to be there. Kit was arrested by the police, not committed by Sister Jude. What reason does Lana have to think that he isn't Bloodyface at the time of that incident?

Lana didn't really have a reason to believe that Kit was harmless. Lana was institutionalized for a "valid" reason in those times. As mentioned above, there are clearly harmful people in the asylum.

I remain unmoved. Fuck with Kit, you deserve what you get. She could have also caught a clue from the other girl who she trusted.

Nobody cares if you're moved, your logic is ass :p
The POLICE have already determined that Kit is a serial killer. There's no ambiguity there. The only thing they don't know is whether he was insane or not.

I'm sure you'd totally let Ted Bundy out if you were in the Asylum with him and he claimed he was innocent. Makes sense.

So the aliens are giving women alien babies? Interesting to see how that turns out.

Curious how you came to that conclusion.

I simply took away from that scene as some how the "aliens" are involved in the goings on at the asylum. Not to mention the whole "procedure" was meant to do the exact opposite...

My question is more why and in what capacity are the aliens (if they are really aliens and not some hallucination brought on by some drug or something which I am currently leaning to them actually existing) working with the asylum for.
