They play a 46 game season in addition to fa cup and league cip plus some teams play in the promotion playoffs. Our depth would get crushed at the salary cap imposed on our teams.

I think Green will probably play with Bayern II primarily but may get a bit of a look here and there. He'd have more chances if Shaqiri were sold, but Rummenigge said he wouldn't be yesterday. We'll see if that pans out. I think he'll have a season similar to Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in 2013/2014. Still played quite a few games for Bayern II, but got a handful of league games and was around the first team often. Højbjerg will probably be with the first team entirely this season.

Not specifically US related, but this is a fascinating article...

Seeking Soccer Respect, Qatar Looked Abroad
A two-part series examining Qatar’s pursuit to become a global soccer power.

In the first year alone, Qatar screened nearly 430,000 boys in 595 locations across seven African countries. More than seven years later, Aspire has screened 3.5 million young athletes across three continents and cherry-picked the most promising boys for odysseys that have spanned the globe.

The fact that they have a history of bribing athletes to represent Qatar as far back as 1999 is not the least bit surprising

- ESPNFC with a panel discussion about Klinsmann's tenure and what happens moving forward
With the dust finally settled on the 2014 World Cup -- one in which the USMNT escaped a group of death with Portugal, Ghana and Germany before losing in extra time to Belgium in the knockout stage -- we asked experts for their opinions on where things stand. Is Jurgen Klinsmann the right coach for the U.S. moving forward? What's next for the players who starred -- or struggled -- in Brazil?

Glad there is a midweek televised MLS game tonight! Philadelphia Union and New York Red Bulls are about to kickoff on ESPN2, WatchESPN, and ESPN Deportes.

Orlando City sells nearly 7,500 2015 MLS season tickets during World Cup sale

Orlando City has sold "just shy" of 7,500 season tickets for the 2015 season, its first in MLS, according to Lions president Phil Rawlins.

The club ended its month-long World Cup sale on Tuesday, taking calls until midnight, and surpassed the halfway point towards its cap of 14,000 season tickets.

"We’re over 50-percent of the target within a month, to say it’s a tremendous start is an understatement," Rawlins told the Sentinel. "It shows the tremendous interest soccer is generating in the community, and it shows the appetite for soccer in the community. Orlando has shown it's the soccer capital of south with the World Cup television viewing numbers and the ticket sales."

Orlando ranked as ESPN's seventh highest-rated market for World Cup games, tied with Miami-Ft. Lauderdale with an average 3.8 rating, behind Washington, D.C. (4.9), New York (4.6), San Francisco (4.4), Los Angeles (4.0), San Diego (4.0) and Hartford-New Haven (3.9).

The club sold more than 5,000 season tickets in the first week of availability, and interest in the World Cup and the signing of Brazilian star Kaká drove sales over the next three-plus weeks.

Wow. That was a horrible red card on Collin. He was in the air, the player jumped into Collin in the air, and Collin gets a straight red. Unbelieveable.

Because of the refs we deal with I'm glad we have playoffs. Imagine how much these stupid decisions affect the point totals at the end of the season
