I'm coming in on the Revs bus
What is your pre-game protocol?
We're on friendly terms with Revs supporters groups, but I doubt you guys have the autonomy to tailgate with us given the size of the crowd.
I don't know where exactly we're tailgating; they haven't told us yet.
They're planning on rolling out from Boston around 6, with a pickup spot in Hartford around 7:30, so odds are we'll be there by 10
Damn. You guys are gonna be lit by the time you get to Jersey. With drinking time to spare.
We'll be stationed in "Lot A" at the corner of Somerset St. and 3rd St., behind the Five Guys. When you get there, you should be able to see the ESC flags waving to get a better sense of where in that lot we post up. If you bought tickets for this match through the club, this is where you will be able to pick them up.
The tailgate will start at 10am. Coming out of semi-retirement is Chef Leon, and he's bringing a stacked menu (subject to change):
-Pulled Pork
-Brisket
-Baked Beans
-Bacon Jalapeno Cornbread
-Cole Slaw
-Pasta Salad
-Hot Dogs for the kids
As it was back in the Giants Stadium days, it will be $5.00 a head to get in on the food.
A few further notes:
-You're on your own for beverages, but please remember we need you in good voice once the game starts.
-We'll be outside, so remember to dress for the weather.
-We'll be outside in Harrison, so remember that this won't be like the lawless days in Lot 16A. Actions can have real consequences. Be smart, be safe.
2012 - Chris Wondolowski Stats: 32GP, 2813 Minutes, 27 goals, 55 shots on goal (43% of all shots were on goal), 5 goals out of 7 PK attempts, 0 playoff goals, Martin Chavez has 13 assists for the team = Wins league MVP with 91% of the vote.
2014 - BWP Stats: 32GP, 240 less minutes (or about 3 games less), 57 shots on goal (53% of all shots were on goal), 6 goals out of 6 PK attempts, 3 playoff goals (and counting), Thierry Henry has 14 assists for the team = Not even a MVP nomination.
Hahaha
I was looking at the MLS Cup odds that Castrol put together:
LAG: 52%
SEA: 23%
NE: 12%
NY: 13%
Eastern Conference not getting much respect, but I suppose they'll be playing on the road in MLS Cup.
Well, that's what the Castrol Index or whatever is predicting. The most in-form team is the least likely to win.

Keane 19/14
Martins 17/13
Nguyen 18/5
Phillips 27/2
Dempsey 15/10
Donovan 10/19
Valeri 11/14
honorable mention
Henry 10/14
P Morales 10/12
Dwyer 22/1
J Morales 9/12
Espindola 11/9
Where did I say BWP was the only MVP snub?
You didn't. I'm not saying Donovan is a snub, neither one is. They're two guys who had great seasons in a year when many did.
Matt Doyle may be a Klinsmann-bashing meanie but he had a good article on that subject a couple months ago....
2. What do they spend on?
There's no doubt that DPs, to one extent or another, drove the bus on the goal-scoring exploits of 2014. Martins and Robbie Keane are probably co-favorites to win MVP; Dempsey lived up to all reasonable expectations; Cubo Torres exceded those for both Chivas and Mexico; and Chris Wondolowski, even on an absolutely dire attacking team, still found a way to bundle home 14 goals. That's his fifth straight season in double-digits; he's Mr. Reliable even when he doesn't get service.
But the area where DP spending is truly shown is in the build-up play:
There were 12 guys who finished the season with double-digit assists, and 10 of them are DPs. The other two are Brad Davis, who's fourth in all-time assists, and Marcelo Sarvas, who's a vital attacking cog for one of the all-time great attacking teams (LA actually outscored Seattle 69-65 this year, which makes this the first time since 2011 that the highest-scoring team didn't also win the Shield).
As the league becomes more sophisticated, MLS teams are putting more of their coin in players who create the special moments, rather than those who finish them. Informing that idea is that you can find a Wondolowski or a Bradley Wright-Phillips on the scrap-heap or, failing that, you can build an approximation from the usual channels Dom Dwyer and Gyasi Zardes combined for 38 goals this year, after all.
As great as those guys are, all four are pretty much specialists, and you're really only going to ask them to do one thing. More to the point: If you don't have enough quality out there in the midfield, they're never going to get a chance to do it.
So "the guy behind the guy" is where teams have invested, and they're right to. Yeah, there will still be big-name goal-scorers coming into MLS, but the bigger names will be either in the midfield, or in the lines between midfield and forward guys like Diego Valeri, Pedro Morales and, yes, Keane and Henry.
To the folks earlier who were talking about tailgating protocol/logistics for the Red Bull - Revs game, it's all up online. At least the supporters clubs lots are. Not sure about the other folks who are unaffiliated/if that matters.
The tournament, now to be staged in Equatorial Guinea, starts on 17 January and if Ivory Coast were to reach the final this would mean Tourés involvement until 8 February. As the midfielder would be required to join up with the squad before the event, Manuel Pellegrini faces being without the 31-year-old for more than a month.
The manager previously indicated it would not be impossible for Lampard to stay the whole season, despite the original agreement being for him to return to Citys sister club in January.
Tim Howard won Male Athlete of the Year
Well, that's what the Castrol Index or whatever is predicting.
One place in Vegas has:
LA Galaxy - 7/4
New England Revolution - 3/1
New York Red Bulls - 3/1
Seattle Sounders FC - 10/3
EDIT: For the sake of amusement, here's what they looked like in January before the season started:

Wow, Chivas had better odds than I would have given them.
The January camp has become very important in light of the recent results. Aside from Aron Johannsson, Terrence Boyd, and Danny Williamswho are all recovering from long-term injuriesthe last five games have utilized all of Klinsmanns realistic options in Europe at the moment.
January camp provides Klinsmann with a tremendous opportunity to look at some fresh facessomething this club sorely needs. He will have the opportunity to observe the best American players in MLS and he should use it to look at newer players instead of relying heavily on familiar faces like Graham Zusi, DaMarcus Beasley, Kyle Beckerman, Chris Wondolowski, Kyle Beckerman, Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones, or even Clint Dempsey.
There are plenty of players he should call up and assess: Perry Kitchen, Wil Trapp, Matt Hedges, Luis Silva, Kelyn Rowe, and Gyasi Zardes all enjoyed strong MLS seasons and definitely deserve a shot. Luis Gil has earned a longer look too.
Three potential Major League Soccer expansion markets presented their case in New York City on Thursday as the league looks to meet its stated goal of 24 teams by the end of the decade.
Representatives from Las Vegas, Sacramento and Minneapolis met with league officials. Future expansion will be discussed further at the MLS Board of Governors meeting, set for Dec. 6.
We had productive expansion meetings today with representatives from Las Vegas, Minneapolis and Sacramento, MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a statement. We were impressed with the presentations made by each group. Following our MLS Board of Governors meeting on December 6, we will provide an update on the expansion process and timeline.
Whitecaps FC announced on Friday the launch of Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2), the clubs USL PRO team that will begin play in the spring of 2015. WFC2 will be owned and operated by Whitecaps FC and will play all home matches on the David Sidoo Field at Thunderbird Stadium, a natural extension of the clubs training home at the University of British Columbia: the National Soccer Development Centre (NSDC)
Final round for Goal of the Year is up for voting as well.
Oba or Will for me. I am leaning towards the Timbers on this one as both the assist and goal itself were amazing.
It's Henry or Oba for me. That assist on Will's goal is award worthy though, I mean goddamn you don't see shit like that very often.
I can't separate Oba's goal from just being kinda lucky, tbh. I'm going for Will's, all the way. Not just because he's a Timber, but because everything in that play was incredible.yeah same. Oba's is just regoddamneddiculous and Henry's goal is the type of goal you know he can pull off at any time and are afraid that he's going to do it every time he has the ball and yet it's still surprises you with the speed, accuracy and the ability to get it past a million people in the box to score.
They've actually upped capacity to 26,500 for Sunday's game. Still sold out except for a few scattered club seats.
How can they do that?

I think that's the number of seats but because of fire code they cap it at 25,189 or whatever
If they ask permission from the fire marshal they can raise it.
I know that the USA vs. Turkey game had an attendance of 26,500 or so.
