They still have D3 in stock? All I'm really after.

Yeah they still have him in stock, edited my last post a bit too late. I see him going out next then probably Megaman or Sonic.

Also for anyone else who may be wondering , Nintendo World still did not receive Metaknight although i see him coming soon.

Gonna be really annoyed when they get Meta Knight at Nintendo World and Best Buy doesn't get a restock. I'm giving up hope of getting MK at a reasonable price.

^Is Toad hard to comeby or something?i thought the "Super Mario Series" was gonna be produced in abundance?

While on the subject of rarity, Thoughts on the rarest amiibo of Wave 3? I personally think Metaknight and Ike are good candidates.

Ike is Marth 2.0 when it comes to rarity
Metaknight appears to have been the hardest of the store exclusives to obtain
Rosalina became Unicorn like not even 2 days into her release
King Dedede seems like the Little mac of this wave

Toad is the only one of the super mario series so far that doesn't have a smash figure, and more than a few people don't want to double up.

Don't think anyone knows. But I think since Toad hasn't been produced in another form yet (like the others), the amiibo is the most sought after one of the run so far and preorders dried up faster than the others at other retailers.

I personally am sitting this one out as I'm not interested in Toad

Just realized that the amiibo lineup site says Wave 4 releases "Spring 2015"

I think with that and the gold Mario showing up for preorder and being gone so quickly...we are doomed, I'm never getting any more amiibo because I won't be able to find them, and I'm gonna go cry in the bathroom now.

There goes the optimistic outlook I had.

Thanks guys. I had them ordered at Gamestop but saving money and getting double points is better than Gamestop. Just need Yoshi and Bowser and then I can cancel the GameStop order.

Happy to see Toad up on BestBuy.com. I'd order one to take advantage of my GCU discount, but since it's ship-to-home only right now, the shipping fee kills the discount. I'll wait to see if it ever comes up for in-store pickup.

I imagine Toad would be rareR cause he's not represented in the Smash line. I dunno if everyone who has Mario or Peach will double dip, but no one's got Toad, so.

My best estimate in the UK:

I think Rosalina and maybe Shulk in that Trinity-Little Mac territory now?

Maybe Dedede and MK a notch below.

Sheik, Toon Link and Ike I've seen loads in Europe--if it's not the Marios/Samus/Link in shop, it's one of those.

Bestbuy Elite members get free shipping, if you add some items that total up to $35 then you get free shipping also.

I don't understand your glad they have a limit yet you still went over it? Are you glad because it won't sell out as fast?

I'm glad because it prevents scalpers from ordering in bulk. I've always ordered two, one to open and play, one to keep boxed.

And I ordered them on the same account, I can't pass up my GCU discount AND free expedited shipping. So, I'm taking my chances. lol

Why does my BB preorder confirmation for Toad say the "Pre-order release date is December 31." and then on the website shipping options it gave me January dates? I'm assuming random placeholders but it seems bizarre.

Man, almost screwed that up. Placed an order for Super Mario Toad and Luigi for $28.37 and then realized I could add Super Mario Peach (who I wasn't planning to get) for another $4.67. Got a second order in for the three and cancelled the first.

fake edit - Okay, release date 12/31/15, now "Get it by Fri Jan 8" makes sense.

They don't have a release date establish, so the system puts it for the last day of the year (12/31/15). Then, after however many days shipping, the estimate automatically calculates to January 5th or 8th or whatever date is the week following 12/31/15.

edit:
Did that make any sense? ^Just see above, haha.

Oh okay, I figured it was March 20th to coincide with the game, didn't know it hadn't been confirmed. Thanks!

I bet wave 4 will happen when I go to work today
I haven't worked at 3 pm on a friday for about 2 months

And the last time I had work at 3 pm on a rare day pax east tickets released :o

Nintendo confirmed it, Best Buy just kinda sucks with release date updates sometimes. Which REALLY sucks when you have a debit card that expires in 5 months and are buying a product that you KNOW releases in 1 month but the release date is still set for 12/31/15. It won't even let you use the card! And in the race to lock down amiibo preorders...

because then Amiibos wouldn't be as big of a hit as they are.
I seriously believe that if these things weren't absurdly rare, not as many people would be buying them, and they wouldn't have been as popular as they are

I agree to a certain extent. At this point it doesn't matter anymore due to the popularity that surrounds it now. If they were to reissue all the rare amiibos and release the next upcoming waves in significant quantity, I don't think the popularity would drop at all. All it would do is get rid of the scalpers at this point.
It takes nothing less than a scorched earth policy to get rid of scalpers once they've latched on to this degree. You have to make these things so ridiculously plentiful that scalpers realize they're getting more than they can sell, which only intersects at the point where stores are getting far, far more than anyone actually wants. And even then, there's such a great number of scalpers working in tandem that they're still going to buy up all that stock for a while before they actually realize what's happening.

I think the main problem is that Nintendo really shouldn't have led off amiibos with a line that has such a huge character count, a large slice of which retailers kind of scratch their heads at and say "...who?" while they're figuring out what and how much they think they should order. There's a clear and obvious problem with trying to work a 50-figure lineup into into the 4-foot, 20-peg section retailers were willing to give them to start out (And keep in mind those open spots are further reduced by retailers perpetually giving multiple facings to 'sure things' like Mario, Link, and Pikachu).

They should have started small with something like the Mario Party line, maybe a line showcasing some of the most popular Pokemon, and left Brawl alone until retailers were confident the figures would sell enough to where they would be ready and willing to expand their shelf space to properly accommodate a larger lineup.

Forcing retailers to play Shelf Space Survivor every time new characters release was never going to be a clean strategy.

Scored a Toad! Problem was I couldn't remember my login password (I have GCU) so since I knew he wouldn't last long I just bought him as a guest. I'm figuring I can just go into Best Buy with my receipt and get the difference back, but even then it's only a couple bucks...worth it for the only Mario Series amiibo I want :)

Yeah, Mega Man and Sonic look to be the most-produced since the Wave 1 commons. They're only 'rare' because they're actually characters that everyone legitimately wants.

And because scalpers realize this.

And because not scalpers are buying one or two extras as collateral for trades.

The fever's taken such hold now that Nintendo can ship way more but still can't shake the perception of scarcity. Like I said, the only option left now to make things seem plentiful is to comically over-produce, and then that's going to piss off retailers that are sitting on piles of stagnant stock.

Nebraska furniture mart has had sheik and toon link available online at least all week, despite fox selling out within a matter of hours a few days ago, so I guess the public's perception of those two is that they are easy to get. Of course that could change any day, just as it did for fox. If you're wanting a toon link or a sheik, waiting may cost you... or it may not.
