I actually really like that idea. I think it'd be fantastic, as I primarily use Hangouts for my messaging and texts.
Only thing is, it'd involve a lot of people seeing your email. But this is still a really cool idea. I want to do it.
I have a question for everyone. What retailer have you purchased the majority of your Amiibo from? Pretty sure I got most of mine at Target
edit: I have gotten some from each retailer except maybe Walmart. But I remember getting the entirety of Wave 1 at Target that first day.

Couldn't say for sure. I've gotten 'em all over. Target, Best Buy, GameStop, TRU are the 4 I've shopped from.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. Hopefully it's accurate.
Kirby and Fox at Best Buy, along with DK. The rest of Wave 1 and 2 at TRU.
Wave 3 is the retailers and Gamestop.

Let's form an amiiboGAF Google Hangouts chat, so we can constantly keep ourselves updated whenever any updates are available. We could try to limit the messaging to just alerts, so once we hear our notification, we know to check for a link. This seems like it would be WAAY better than Now In Stock alerts and the like.

I mean theoretically, it doesn't take much work to making a secondary gmail account. Plus the Hangouts app does support multiple accounts.

Target almost exclusively. I got Marth, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Zelda, Diddy, Luigi, Pikachu, Samus, and Kirby from there. Got Toon Link and Sheik from Walmart of all places. They're usually awful.

It's cheating since there is no way for you to get to that from the site itself. It is just from knowing the SKU number and plugging it into the storesearch.

Your all very welcome! Funny thing is I was playing Destiny Nightfall and was on my phone constantly checking it, I have Dedede from Target.com and Meta-Knight from bestbuy bookmarked rdy to be checked 24/7!

Careful. I tried calling some stores a few weeks ago for one amiibo, but they all said they were sold out. Sometimes, those statues take a while to update.
EDIT: Dedede was on sale/preordered and I missed it?!

There's a store about 17 miles from me that shows Shulk in stock, but not Low Quantity. I'm not sure if I should try and get it.

A warning about using that. If a store has any on hold or preordered it will show them as having some in stock as well. Not as big a thing now, a week after he came out, but was when every store was holding preorders.

That thing shows almost all stores around me. That mean they all have shulk? Im on mobile and can't tell if it's working right.
I suppose this is probably it, or somehow when they grabbed it out of the box they were not careful and crushed the packaging, which cause it to tear and separate from the back cardboard.
Anyway. I've since opened it and the jovial King Dedede is now among his peers.

More GS pre orders coming this Friday right? I still have Ike and megaman pre ordered with them and haven't heard anything since shulk.

If the store has an instock notification next to it, yes, they should have him. Like me and another have warned, that means any in stock at all including preorders though.

This was Toki's idea that I'm trying to get off the ground. He proposed we start a Google Hangouts session with AmiiboGAF users, so we can immediately alert each other when amiibos are up for preorder, in stock, etc. I absolutely love the idea, so I want more people to join. You can create a new Gmail account just for this, if you want. And if you don't already have the Hangouts app on your phone, you can download it and sign in.
With this method, we're basically creating our own now in stock-type alerts, right to our phones. How cool is that?

Ah yeah I'll join. Can you tie 2 gmail accounts to one hang out app? I have it on my phone but it's tied to my real gmail though not like it's hurt to use it I suppose. Lol

Yeah, I just created a new Gmail account for this, and you can have multiple accounts in the app. Same situation as you, but I got the new one made no problem

You're wasting your time. I tried almost 10 stores, and they all have Shulk, but they are still holding them and they won't tell you till when. They just go "eh uh we gots to give them a chaaaance"
