Amiibo Thread 5 | Because we didn't preorder thread 4

Hello,

My friend just received word of getting an extra Sonic and Ike. I have no need since I got one, but I wanted to offer it to GAF. I am only asking MSRP + shipping costs. Please PM me or reply to this post. I felt bad about all the Ikes getting canceled and thought that I would rather let someone have it than cancel.

Thanks,
TheSlySoul

Edit: And there gone... *Insert South Park picture here*

I'm going to have an extra Ike, Mega Man, Sonic and Dedede tomorrow.

The only ones I don't have, though, are Marth and Rosalina.

Ah, I wish I had an extra of one of those two. I've got a few to trade right now, including Pit, Falcon, Lucario, and Shulk. Also, Sheik, Sonic and Mega Man if people can't find one of them.

This deal with having to preorder from several retailers to ensure I get a figure is really taking its toll on my wallet.

For the new page: Looking for Ike and DeDeDe. Will do a trade or pay for cost+shipping. Thanks, amiibros!

I'd LOVE a chance at that Ike!

My own two cents on the possibility of no Wave 4 U.S. pre-orders: I understand if that's the case. Nintendo are not even shipping enough product to fulfill pre-orders placed months in advance. Why should retailers have to deal w/ the customer backlash of that? My local Gamestop supposedly got in one each of Ike and Dedede when there were 5 pre-orders for each figure. It's just bad form.

Iwata blames the port strikes, but says at the same time that it only affects certain figures. How is that possible? Iwata brought up some valid points in that last Investor Meeting/Q&A, but I can't help but think that it's a load of B.S. regardless. He seemed delighted that they were fetching a high price on eBay.

It would make some sense for them to air ship the figures they expected to be the most popular (Mario, et al.) and throw the rest on a boat. Who knows though. I'm sure that Iwata was happy that the demand was there for people to pay over MSRP but if you think they'd rather a bunch of FatWalleters pocket a profit than them selling a figure you're smoking some good stuff.

Wait wait, what is Nebraska Furniture Mart? They stock amiibo? And, someone used them to search for amiibo too?

(Sorry from Midwest, unaware of this retailer!)

We really are getting closer to the post-apocalyptic apocalypse of Walgreens getting Dr. Mario and PetSmart getting Duck Hunt Duo as exclusives.

Yes they are a valid source for amiibos. If something pops up there and you need it, don't hesitate. I have a King D3 arriving this week from them.

You're not fast enough? Or D3 is stupid rare?

Store stock is almost non-exist any and every time it goes online I miss it. I've seen Sonic, Mega Man, and even passed on an Ike before, but every time D3 comes up I'm not around. I think I'm going to have to trade for it. Thank god I have an extra Rosie and Lucario.

As rjinaz said, they're legitimate. I've ordered from there and received Amiibo in a timely fashion. The only issue is their packaging sucks. They will put the Amiibo in a box where they'll just move around freely. All mine came undamaged with surprisingly mint cards, but the potential is still there.

no idea, really. I learned of them from this thread and keep watching their site since they get stock and are less known so it lasts longer (and they limit purchase to 1 for anything in the newest wave). It is a furniture store in Omaha, NE and a couple other places and sell electronic stuff too (therefore amiibo). I've ordered Dedede, Fox, Toon Link, and Mega Man through them and should receive them in the next couple days. I'll post a picture of their shipping methods and if the amiibo come through in good shape when I do. I just hope they get an Ike in while I'm watching!

EDIT - Also, amiibo are priced ~$0.20 below MSRP and free shipping with $50 purchase. So they could be a good deal at times

If you want a Dedede, I'm looking for Rosalina.

Nintendo is not hurting enough at this point that they desperately need the money to ship every single person who wants an Amiibo an Amiibo.

Iwata is happy because his bosses ask him to sell, let's make up some numbers: 100k Amiibo, there exists palpable demand for 1 million Amiibo, and he sold 150k Amiibo. Next year his bosses ask him to sell 200k Amiibo so he sells 300k. And then they ask him to sell 400k Amiibo so he ships and sells 500k.

What incentive does he have to ship 1 Million Amiibo tomorrow, and make a massive upfront increase in manufacturing costs which looks like a gamble to incredibly shrewd careful Japanese Investors, when he can be a hero for 4 years in a row instead?

And whether it's scalpers buying them and jacking up the price for profit, what do they care? It's money going to them. Plus, if they are doing this (shortage) on purpose, I'm guessing NCL's done the math and the risk of being stuck with amiibo (like the recently-discounted Mario line) was something they weren't willing to take, even if they could've sold a bit more.

It's Nintendo, don't they have a reputation for always under-producing?

I'm not a fan of it, but if theyre doing it on purpose (and they're twisted enough to do so), I guess I can see it.

They are like a way better Best Buy! I've been going there for years. All of our major purchases (besides our car and house) have come from there because they have awesome financing. Looks like the amiibo secret is officially out of the bag.

So I had gotten the call that I could pick up Ike from last night, as I pre ordered in the middle of December...

But when I showed up at the store, they had already sold the two that they received. Did this happen to anyone else? They insist I will get it, it'll just be 2-3 weeks.

At this point I'm willing to pay extra for my missing rare amiibo. I so wish I had started collecting sooner...

I'm still missing Pit, DDD, Rosalina, C. Falcon, Wii Fit, Little Mac, Villager, Lucario, Meta Knight, and Rosalina...if anyone has an extra of any of those, I'm willing to pay $20 for them...$25 for Rosalina.

I'm missing pretty much everything rare...except Shulk, wish I had an extra to trade for something. Anyone's free to PM me if interested.

My best guess is that when US wave 4 preorders do go up, every single retailer will be limiting them to one of each character per customer.

I'd be okay with this. It would put the kibosh on Scalpers and make it possible for pre-orders to be up for more than just a couple of minutes. I understand some collectors like to buy two of each character, but people like me should be able to at least get their one before others start doubling up.

Unless somebody is super duper nice to you, you won't find anybody willing to sell you Pit, Little Mac, MK, or Villager for $20. Each of those goes for around or far over $50 currently.

Just annoyed the one from the Mario line that I want is no longer available for pre-order. (Toad).

Yes, I know he is popular with everyone, but still annoyed. lol

I figured as much, I just figured it wouldn't hurt to try...just trying to avoid feeding the scalpers.

Do they do preordering or does all their stock just go out to the floor/online as it comes in?

Eww Walmarts open at 7... not going to be a fun day for me to go wait for Gold Mario :/ OR I can go to a 24 hour Walmart and wait around midnight.... prob a better option.

Trying to get that gold Mario is not going to be worth it for me. I collect the ones I like, not all of them.

But I wish luck to those who do want it and congratulations to those whom are able to get a hold of him.

I think I'll just watch ebay. Hopefully at the start the seller market is oversaturated with them and there is only a slight markup. I am not waiting in a line at midnight for a gold colored amiibo. Nope.

At this point, what are my options for getting Toad and Ness?

For Toad, I don't know, I'm in the same boat. I guess the best option would be is you are lucky when they are put on the shelf and you can grab one. At least Toad isn't a store exclusive.

As for Ness, I really want him as well. I am hoping we will be able to get him on pre-order still.

Ness (and the rest of Wave 4) hasn't been up for preorder anywhere yet in NA. Your guess is as good as everyone elses at this point.

Toad - I think preorders have been filled everywhere. So you are looking at getting in line on release day or hoping they aren't overly rare and actually show up on shelves at some point.

saves you the pain of lines and time. I've seen most day one ebay prices to be around 30-35 so it's not too bad with the complete NA saturation. not that bad.

Excellently written i agree completely, it should be common knowledge know that Nintendo is purposely under producing products ,they rather sell out than have a bunch of unsold stock in stores.Hell i thought the gamecube wii u adapters , Majoras Mask XL situation should be enough to attest to that theory

So does that just mean later at Nintendo World Store? Or possibly other places?

Of course , Nintendo World gets everything if you are really interested in seeing a slaughter , spectate Nintendo World twitter on the day of Gold Mario's release i can guarantee you that people will be camping out even if its sub zero temperatures near the Eastern seaboard.

Actually, Nintendo World tends to get some items BEFORE they go on sale at other stores. At least, they did with the store exclusive amiibos, except for Meta Knight.
