Do we know this for sure? Maybe Nintendo just hasn't announced that it will do something different if scanned.

hadnt even thought of it. of course nintendo would do that.

Ding ding ding. I'm in the same boat. Do not care about Mario Party line, and I'm stupid glad about that

You guys mean the"Super Mario" line keep in mind these are intended to be the general purpose amiibos for the Mario gang , these will presumably be always produced to be available with every new Mario iteration not just Mario Party

I'm going to WalMart today to pick up an item I had shipped to the store; think they'll let me pre-order the figure while I'm there? I hardly ever go there so I'm not sure what their policy is when it comes to stuff like this.

I don;t think they do instore preorders but could be wrong. Please keep us updated

If anyone got an extra gold Mario and is willing to sell it for MSRP plus shipping can you PM me. I promise I have done the same so far for 8 Gaf members with rares and uncommons. I don't hold mine for trade so I have nothing to offer. It would be really cool if anyone I have helped in the past could return the favor. Thanks yo

My local Best Buy (Staten Island) got a big stock of Samus, Toon Link, Sheik, Diddy, and Bowser. Just a heads up for those looking for some of the older ones.

I'm not sure you can actually pre-order stuff from Wal-Mart outright. They sometimes have pre-order cards you can buy, but I don't know if they'll do that for an amiibo.

Oooooh!.....doesn't matter! The way you title something! You know what I'm talking about right? So don't correct me when you already know what I'm talking about.

Well, Amazon UK lost my Lucario shipment on its way to the US and can't replace it :/ It's out of stock for first party fulfillment.

If anyone has an extra Lucario, I'd be willing to buy it depending on cost. Scalping prices are rising online.

Nintendo Logic:

Step 1: Release the most desirable, rarest Amiibo in what will surely be highly limited quantities..
Step 2: Release it at a store that if they have any limits sure as hell won't follow them.
Step 3: (Not) Profit

Man, I bet scalpers are getting their tents and sleeping bags together right now. Oh wait, they're fat worthless idiots. They have enough insulation to keep them warm up to 50 below.

That is actually quite debatable. Yes, obviously demand is higher than supply right now, but that demand is a direct result of having the stock limited and random exclusive stuff. Do you really think there would be that many people hounding threads like this actively looking and jumping on amiibo as they go live if they were always in stock for at least a month?

Right now nintendo is selling through pretty much any amiibo they make aside from the select few they keep well stocked to have a presence in store. They have been selling through at full retail price, and in general rarely have any sales on them.

I won't deny though as while this works well from a business standpoint it's a giant middle finger to any fans, but since we keep stalking their releases and buying them up, I doubt they will care that the fans are upset with the situation.

If Nintendo got their crap together of course we wouldn't have to sit on the internet all day hitting F5 in the hopes that we can order an amiibo before it sells out in 5 minutes. This isn't a Wii U situation where they would be sitting on a bunch of unsold stock; this is a $12 toy that doesn't require hardware to enjoy. Nintendo is just terrible when it comes to printing enough of things, whether that be games or figurines, at least here in North America. Look at the GCN adapter. Look at Pikmin 3. Look at the numerous amiibos. Looks at the N3DS. I don't think I have to go on here.

Making these small print runs hurts their bottom line in the long run and makes customers angry. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Reddit says they don't. Why don't you just call them?

Because I am at work right now and have to go anyway to pick up a game I had shipped to the store. Doesn't hurt to ask while I'm there; worst case scenario is they laugh and say no. In that situation I'd just pick up a hot n ready from Little C's next door and eat away the pain.

Well that's great to hear, I have three Amiibos coming from them that are behind schedule :(

I think Gold Mario (along with being Wal-Mart exclusive) is where Amiibo's have officially jumped the shark with me. Hopefully I can somehow eventually finish off the Smash line (if wave 4 isn't a total bloodbath), but at this point it seems like Nintendo is just teasing everyone and is trying to make this as much of a craze as it can be.

Yes, but you can only do this for so long until the more casual audience gives up on it. It's a very tricky line, and I'm really not that convinced that Nintendo is employing this strategy when you consider that the issues isn't as prevalent outside NA (I say this knowing that some amiibos have been harder to get in EU and JP, but not to the level we've had). It makes me think that the issue lies somewhere is.

So the Mario Gold amiibo turned out to be true after all uh? Watch how all the figures on wave 4 become exclusive on different stores with different release dates of 1 month away from each other and with only 5 figures of each for the entire continent. Thank Reggie.

How are you guys going to deal with amiibo after the Smash line? Are you not going to care anymore? I feel like Nintendo made a mistake by launching this with Smash. They're blowing their entire load of characters at once.

It jumped the shark in NoA at least with Wave 3. Watch UK get 5000 of them no retail exclusive.

If they manage to make Mystery Even t amiibos for Pokemon then you will see the hype increase ten fold , knowing Nintendo they seem liable to do something like that.

I can also see them doing a dedicated series to each franchise similar to the "Super Mario" series such as a "legend of Zelda" series with characters like Tinkle

The war will start when they introduce new ones for the new Fire Emblem game for 3DS. Would kill for a SMT×FE wave as well.

Anyone one want to trade their extra Gold Mario for either a

Meta Knight
Dedede
Ike
Megaman
Sonic
Rosalina
Fox
Shulk
Captain Falcon

or combination of some of these?

Please PM me.

If the above isn;t what you are looking for please let me know what you are missing and I will find a way to get it if I don't have it. I have done pretty well trading on Craigslist and could possible get what you ned.

Anybody in NYC GAF going tomorrow to the Nintendo World store that would mind picking up a King Dedede for me if they already have one? I will pay for cost plus shipping.

Can someone explain in perfect English what the point of a dang Gamestop preorder is if they just sell your reservation on a whim?

Called me about Ike last night, go to pick it up as soon as they open.
My name is marked out like I picked it up, girl calls the manager who tells her they sold it to a guy who had multiple preordered so he could have all of them at one time.

Meanwhile im now stuck until a "late spring" shipment.

Never agreed before but Fuck Gamestop.
