lol. i should probably read more. i didn't see cancelation when i read it the first time, but after reading your post i instantly saw it in my quote.

i should sleep

Haha, it's all good :D

I'm just glad I got my $40 back.

Some redditor, who claims to be a Gamestop manager, says there will be no W4 preorders.

Let the games begin!

Thank jebus I have all of them pre-ordered at Amazon.co.uk

*shrug* if this trend continues, perhaps it's for the best.

Checking gamestop's website and seeing 80% of them have Pit listed as in stock or low stock, only to call any one of them and find out he was on an indefinite hold as each person on the pre-order wait list got their 3-day opportunity to grab him before he got passed on to the next person on the list, was really frustrating for everyone involved.

Now we can check the site, and if they're listed in stock we can call and confirm they are in stock, then we go buy it and the associates don't have to deal with any more fruitless calls from people all over the metroplex about that one reserved amiibo.

We don't get to lock in our purchases early, but we also don't have to worry about pre-orders getting canceled. And the crazy race to the actual purchase (at least for online stores) is just the same as the race to the pre-order, as we saw with gold mario and toad.

Take this with a pinch of salt but I have been calling almost every weekday to Gamestop asking for Ike and Wave 4 pre orders and yesterday one of the employees told me since some people with pre orders from Wave 3 (Ike) haven't gotten their amiibo yet they wouldn't be doing Wave 4 pre orders until those were all done because it wasn't fair. Don't know how much of that is truth or just trying to stop me from calling again.

I don't see how that's any better than having to line up at Gamestop in the early morning on release, probably in the cold is any better. Just think, if everybody has to go to the stores, imagine the lines. No thank you.

I really don't see how that situation is better for the consumers. People had ample time to preorder wave 3 if they chose to after all. I didn't have to put any effort in wave 3 at all except for Rosalina, which was because it was near impossible to get it online. So in a line in the cold I went.

It might be better for the stores though, sure. No shipping or mass of returns for damaged packages, and people are coming into your stores to buy more things.

As long as we get Amazon still, I'm happy.

That makes little sense.

They should just stop taking pre-orders for... everything, I guess.

If there are no pre-orders anywhere, then this is where my Amiibo collecting ends. I will never go stand in line at Toys R Us or any other place again.

Has there been any indication as to how uncommon/rare the Super Mario Bros. series is? I know that Toad has been popular and tough to find in places, but what about the rest of the amiibos in the series?

Aside from Toad, they are all freely available on Amazon for retail price.

Ok, thanks a lot. Is it expected that the Super Mario Bros. series will continue to be in production? I just don't know if it is worthwhile to pick them all up as quickly as possible or if I can hold off and focus on others from the Super Smash Bros. series.

Picked up a golden mario for myself and my brother in Memphis, TN.

Last two at the Austin Peay walmart, and now checking the tracker, every other walmart except for whitehaven and Covington have sold out.

Should I keep mine and open it to play with it, or should I try to flip it for a shulk?

I am really torn on this one.

Got my Gold Mario in the mail yesterday...he's like a little Nintendo Oscar. Love it.

Sidenote...I was telling my fiancé that I'll probably get the SMB Mario & Luigi to put on my desk at work because I like the poses better than the Smash ones (at least for the context of my desk) so she was asking what their poses were. Even she was like, "So this is the same thing just spray painted gold? This is getting out of hand..."

My judgement-free amiibo days at home are dwindling. lol

Do places take preorders for skylanders or Disney infinity figures?

I can kind of see why they wouldn't do preorders. Retailers are getting pissed and they take the customer anger for Nintendo's constant issues.

Mine are long gone. My wife won't let me buy a second bookshelf. So at this point I will be starting to put characters I don't like as much in boxes. Once Wave 4 hits and whatever other ones, so very little space since I have all 36 now.

Yeah, my only saving grace is that my fiancé at least grew up with an NES and a SNES in the house so she recognizes and likes all the main characters at least. It's characters like Pit, Shulk, Samus, etc that she doesn't care about. The more those characters pile up, the more disdainfully she looks at my collection!

The biggest problem is that we're living with my parents right now and for the next few months we just really don't have a ton of space, so she's of the mind that I should just wait until we move into a new place before buying more...but it's tough with the rarity!

So golden Mario must not be too rare? Shitload of them on the shelf at my local Walmart.

It's still rare. Your store is an exception, just like some TRU got Lucarios for a little bit after release. There is no walmart within 100 miles that have one around here. Still going for over $41 dollars on ebay. For comparison, you could get Lucario, Shulk, and Rosalina in the $30 range a week after their releases.

It sounds like it's just GameStop with that -- if it's even true.

Yeah that's my take from it. Gamestop is just moving forward with no preorder since Nintendo is not communicating with them. That does not indicate there will be no preorders at all.

That would be like saying there will be no wave 4 at all in NA, because Nintendo hasn't communicated a release date either.

Ebay looks like gold marios were rare... I been out of the Amiibo game since quiting collecting and selling all wave 3 exclusives preorders.

Walked into Walmart for shipping tape just now and found 4 just hanging on the rack. Score for me and don't give up hope yall on rares.

A bunch around here haven't gotten any, so I'm guessing they are just now getting them in. Thankfully this is one I don't care for, but if this pre-order bs is true...

I don't think there's any truth to it personally. When is that magical direct supposed to be that gives us answers maybe? It's already Wednesday...

Gamestop gave my preorder away to someone else, so I have no issues with this.

Just because gamestop is probably not taking pre orders it doesn't mean every other retailer won't.
On the contrary, that's more business for Target, best buy, etc, so it's definitely going to happen for other retailers if they want the money and decent customer service reviews.
Even so... After this gamestop announcement my hype for wave 4 has descended very low...

Half tempted to visit walmart today just to see even though the website says out of stock for the store. Hmm.

Preorders are still go I bet, it's just we're still fucked by the Western Shipping strike, so Nintendo had no way to guarantee preorders. I just think the american/canadian wave 4 will be delayed compared to other countries.

Encouragement

And before my PM box gets flooded.... I am a dirty unemployed scalper just spreading info. I see another post today saying shelves full.

Edit: Florence, KY if anyone cares.

Edit2: pic removed wasn't really bragging just showing restocks are real, hope people hit up stores after multiple restock reports
