Target here was two amiibo per guest. Didn't hand out tickets for silver Mario but had a ton. I got Jiggs ands Splatoon triple pack. I might go back later today to try for Mario if I can't get one at TRU.

Cross posting from Splatoon thread:

I was reading to my son's preschool this morning (I normally am at work by 6:00). I noticed Target was open at 8:00. School starts at 8:30, we got to Target 5 mins before opening. There was a line of about 20 people.
"Hey, you guys here for Splatoon too?"
"It's new Amiibo day, dude."

Oh totally forgot! These adults were crazy. Luckily Target limited Amiibos to only 2 per person. The first guy in line was PISSED. He wanted more. He got his two and got back in line a second time.
I was just going to get the game but they had the three-pack of Splatoon Amiibos going fast, luckily we got one and the game. Haha.

And we made it to school on time!

I didn't nab one but I was shocked that the 10th or so person in line got a Lucina. Do the scalpers actually recognize who the rare ones are lol?

I feel like they fall apart if they can't buy up everything and start guessing, which usually means going after store exclusives or (in this case) variants like Silver Mario. The dumb scalpers are a good thing through, the smart ones are saboteurs.

Are there really any smart scalpers in the amiibo game though? The profit margins on them are just too low for the most part.

Scored a Jigglypuff and a silver Mario with little trouble, our Target handled it very well.

However, interesting development, dude in front of me git a call from a buddy who works for Best Buy, and they are expecting 20 Meta Knights sometime today! Hope it's accurate!

I was fourth in line at my Target at 5:15 so I got Robin, Lucina, Silver Mario, and Jigglypuff. This was after being shut down at my first Target at 4:30 and Walmart at midnight.

The amiibo gods finally blessed me!

Well if they were actually able to buy as many as they wanted it would probably be "worth" it I guess? Say you buy $1000 worth of Amiibo and you flip the rare ones at x3-4 and the normal ones at cost. That could easily double your money for not that much effort. Return them if they look like they aren't worth selling so not much "loss' either outside of one night of camping. I wouldn't be surprised if they heard about "success" stories from the earlier waves. Not only do i see posts about people at the beginning of these lines pissed off they can't buy everything up, but I have witnessed it twice now myself.

I mean maybe if they'd caught up to the fact that stores are more willing to crack down on them now they might not bother so much but these are obviously small times scalper scum in either case.

I decided to drop by Target after dropping off my kids to see if I could score a silver Mario. The line wasn't too bad, I ended up being 17th - showed up at 7:35

The manager was great and told us that there were 24 Jigglies and 14 Silver Mario's. I was nervous about that.

I ended up getting a Silver Mario for my son and a JP for me. No running, shoving and everything was really well organized and civil.

First target I went to at 650 had 16 people in line with like 12 jiggs. The one in at now at 7 am has about 20 people but it does say it has 32 of them. I'm going to be refreshing this page praying for a jiggs to go online and Ima buy it just in case and cancel after I get one for myself lol

There was only one Ness at my GameStop.

I was first in line.

Nice!

Though one would have thought by now that Nintendo would learn from the past several months and increase stock per store. I don't understand how they thought that one exclusive per store was acceptable. That's insane.

It's good to hear that a lot of stores are doing what they can to keep things under control and fair. I don't understand why someone would camp out from 3 - 8 just to get one figure to sell for a $20 profit. That's not even minimum wage.

My Target was an unmitigated disaster. No printed numbers, no escort back to electronics, just a mad dash by everyone. They had half the stock on the shelves and half still in boxes behind the counter. There were tons of the "commons" (Wario, Charizard, etc) crushed on the ground from people throwing them and people out of the way to get 1 of the 2 Lucina's and robin's. The employees just stood back and laughed at people. One of them was actually filming everything on their phone. I waited until the end of the brawl, and casually walked up and snagged a Jiggly and a Silver Mario... so everything worked out. But, those poor crushed Amiibo. I should have taken a couple pictures in hind sight.

Im tired. Never doing this again.

I completely agree. I'm willing to pay scalper prices to not have to deal with this ever again. It's just sad.

My Target had them in a cart behind the electronics desk.
Everyone walked calmly in a line to the back but some kids and his parents(who were last in line) decided to cut through the store and they get to the amiibo shelf first,
seeing that its empty they go to the electronics desk(still ahead of everyone) and are told to get back to their spot in line.

Batteries the CRISIS!
Has anyone tried pricematching Amiibos at Toys R Us with Target or any other retailer to get the price down to $12.99 from $13.99? Apparently, PudgyBunny just did at ours

my mind is kinda blown that it worked

BTW our TRU had 8 Robin, 8 Lucina and about 40 Greninja. The GameStop across the parking lot had ... no Robin, no Lucina and 2 Ness.

Got everything at Best Buy!!! Splatoon Pack, Charizard, Metal Mario, and Splatoon!

Walked in right at 10:00 AM, no lines or anything. Thank you Based Buy.

There was a line of...I don't know, 15-20 people at Target when I rolled up a few minutes before opening. They were only supposed to have 3 of the Splatoon three-packs, and since that's all I was looking to buy, I didn't bother waiting.

On a lark, I went back around two hours after opening, and lo and behold, there was still one Jigglypuff on the shelf, a pair of Splatoon three-packs, and a handful of the individual Inklings. Great success!

It's now in hand. Today is a good day.

Nice. Preordered mine at gamestop but wont get it from UPS until Wednesday apparently. Wish more companies shipped to deliver on release day like amazon does for stuff like games and movies. That's half the fun.

Managed to get a Jigglypuff at Target and run over to Tous R Us and get a Greninja. Had to line up for both of them but the stores were good at making sure it was 1 of each character per person so that their stock lasted at least for the exclusives.

With that Wave 4 complete, onto July for wave 5 haha.

Was last in line at Target, wanted Pac for me, Jiggly for my daughter. It was 2x per person and Robin and Lucina sold out. Since I was last in line they lifted the restriction for me, but I only got what I came for, and Splatoon.

Probably would have grabbed a Lucina if it was there.

Will try TRU at lunch for Greninja because my daughter was 2 when Y came out and called him "Beep Frog" (it's a YouTube video of some frog screaming like a Beeeeeep). Maybe Best Buy for Meta Knight since that scalping ass bought the last 6 in front of me last time it was available.

And apparently at our TRU the only tickets (they handed out tickets before opening) that they ran out of were Robin and Lucina. There were at least 20 people in line. Plenty of Charizard, Greninja, Silver Mario, Wario and Pac-Man for everyone.

I finally contacted Walmart about my Pacman and Charizard that are still processing (and giving me a arrival date of April 27th). I don't get why they haven't shipped yet. I hope to hear back from them.

Got to a TRU about 5 minutes before they opened, got Greninja easily. I'm satisfied

I swear they had like 5 Lucina/Robin total
