I wonder if people actually switch to the google now launcher when they get a samsung phone. All I see is people moaning about how horrible touchwiz is,i do want to know what is so bad about it now.

i have GL on my note 4, it is better than tw in some areas and worse in others. It doesn't disable TW (and is the same for other oem skins, such xperia or htc ones), only the launcher. Settings menu is still the same.

btw, according cnet android 5.1 may see the light early 2015. It is obvious that it is coming, but the sooner the best. Seems that silent mode will be back too. Crosses fingers.

I have a bug now where my M8 won't wake up right away when I hit the power button. It takes a second or two before the screen wakes up. Very annoying because I can't answer a call right away or turn my music/podcasts off right away. I disabled all the motion launch features but that didn't help.

Anybody had this problem and figured out out?

I've been pretty happy with the battery life on my moto x (coming from a Galaxy Nexus, though...). It didn't charge the other night (I think that offbrand charger broke) and I made it through two days without any trouble. I wasn't heavily using, but I wasn't really careful about not using either. I'm sure other phones are better, but I'm definitely not seeing big drain on standby.

The Galaxy nexus lol. Now that was a battery abomination. Definitely a step up for you.

There are no dedicated media controls anymore, it's just a persistent notification like any other. Sure, it's functional (if you allow lock screen notifications), but the way it worked in KK was much better.

Apart from the ten of fifteen minutes to set up the launcher. I'm in and out of the launcher in seconds. I brought it up cause I can't believe having a persistent search bar is enough to not use a launcher.

Not much. But having gnow just a swipe away is nice and convenient. Much better than having blinkfeed of Flipboard.

They just need to create a notification widget with back/play/forward controls. It took them a long time to put the back button on their Google music widget so i do not think they will fix it anytime soon though.

Aw man I wish my phone were capable of running MiUi. Having a phone tied to a CDMA regional carrier serverely limits your ROM choices! From what I did try though, MiUi was very plesant to use. iOS-like... like what my homescreen looks like now.

Fake edit: But yeah, I'm very happy that I switched from iPhone to Android. It's a wonderful thing to never be tied to one particular UI.. even if the phone I'm using IS a Samsung phone.

Yeah, I couldn't take TouchWiz anymore. I mean there's nothing wrong with it... it's just bland. A shame I cannot also have my status bar themed as well. The less I see of TouchWiz the better at this point.

Also, minimal clock is dope. It's so good. The most asthetically pleasing widget I could find so far.
