Android |OT5| The Sonic Cycle

So as someone who has never ever dealt with bloatware from a carrier on a smartphone, how much bloatware does AT&T install and can you get rid of it without rooting on the S6? If not, how much space does it take up?

I'm not sure how much they install, it can't removed without rooting. Here's an article regarding the size etc on the S6.

Basically, even if you could removed the bloatware you would never be able to use that space because it's on a separate partition from where app/games normally install.

Gah, you guys are right ;_; I tried too hard to abuse the AMOLED's ability to make colours pop. Time to use more traditional colours and declutter

Yeah its a bit too much, I would suggest a more subdued background a clock that's a bit more minimal and maybe not ad many incons on the screen. I really like the icon pack, what is that? Also what launcher are you using?

Yeah I'm going with a dark but still cartoony theme for now.

Icon pack is mostly Moonshine (and some Zono). Nova Launcher ^^

Ok, this fanboy shit has gotten out of control in here.
It's not fanboy shit it's the God honest truth. Samsung can go die in a fire.

Setting the S6 up now. Feels lighter than the i6 in hand, probably due to the wider surface area.

They straight up copied the iOS parallax effect on the TW home screen, pretty hilarious.
That's what she said.

SWEET BABY JESUS THERE'S A FLASHLIGHT QUICK TOGGLE IN THE SHADE

YOU DID IT, SAMMY

YOU FUCKING DID IT

PHONE OF THE FOREVER
*Sigh*

Even after all the shit Samsung have put me through with my S4 and my TV, I wouldn't go that far.

I'd just recommend anyone to stay far far away from them in the UK. Their customer support has been outsourced to another company and if something goes wrong, you're fucked unless you enjoy wasting your time for months trying to get something sorted.
I've owned a singular Samsung phone; The AT&T Galaxy Skyrocket S2. The only saving grace of that phone was Cyanogen mod and that was a stretch. That said, supporting a company whose bold strategy is to copy Apple and "hope" it pays off is laughable.

How has the user experience been with the m9? A part of me wanted to go with it for just that. I dont need the quad HD and I remember loving blinkfeed on the m7

User experience on the M9 is just as good as every other HTC One phone has been...until the 810 gets throttled and it turns into a laggy mess. The 810 is the worst thing that's happened to Android Phones since Samsung's old ways.

Well shit...I wonder why it's not working on mine. Not like there's an option for it...
btw a lot of these features are basic lollipop things that you are getting excited about. There isnt too much of a difference from the AOSP that is on the moto g. Everything just looks slightly different and more samsunglike.

I really loved the m7 when I had it for the short period of time that I had it. I actually really enjoyed blinkfeed and have found nothing that really compares imo. I cant imagine that the experience is any different from the m7/8 then?

While I don't experience any "lag" personally. There is definitely some jerkiness from time to time. Especially when going from flip to the home screen(only when swiping).

I know you are trying to show off the phone and all, but it has gotten to the point where it must be a joke account.

You can't seriously take pics with the phone and downsize them to 150 kb and be serious about the attempt to show camera quality.

I'm aware, and they are also things that Sammy has stripped out of older versions of Touchwiz. It's lovely to have basic functionality out of the box for once.

The GREAT CONCESSION was that to get the nice things Sammy offered, you had to wade through missing features and awful ones you don't want. That, for once, seems to be not true.

SOT right now, 45% battery drain has gotten me 2h 12m. Been slamming LTE and Wifi during that period too, so I'm inclined to think that a normal day's use would be even better.

All this is with auto brightness turned off and brightness at 50%, so the screen drain will be higher than out of the box.

have you tried auto brightness in direct sunlight yet?

What is sunlight, precious?

And no, I never use auto brightness, not something I'd ever test.

what carrier do you use? my SOT is pretty bad like another member has mentioned. I may just go ahead and disable to voLTE to save me some precious battery

I'm playing with the store model now, Jesus this phone is amazing. The edge is especially gorgeous in person. I'm still sticking with the regular S6 though.

That screen is unbelievable, holy fucking shit. Just sublime. The edge looks awesome but there is slight color banding on the sides and the left and right edge are really quite sharp. The regular S6 is definitely more comfortable in hand. The Edge definitely had sexiness going for it though.

I compared it to my OPO, and while the res bump isn't very noticeable at a normal distance the screen on the S6 has such beautiful brightness, colors and contrast. Its really amazing in person.

i just want your impressions on what its like to gaze into a sneak peek of the creation of the universe.

I mean, if you want me to just turn up the brightness to 100, I did that in a dark room earlier, and the image is still burned into my retinas.

Droid-Life's Edge review is a bit more tempered, thanks to Tim doing it.

Should you buy the S6 Edge over the regular Galaxy S6? Even though I personally enjoy the look of the S6 Edge a ton, I don’t think I can recommend this model over the standard version. In my opinion, Samsung does not bring any added advantages to the phone for paying the extra $100. Unless you want to pay more for a Night Clock on the side of your display that really isn’t all that great.

Well this doesnt look so bad as your previous pics, whoch looked like you smeared the camera with your finger first. Post these in full when you can.

Its still not a good camera though especjally since the m8 cam makes better night shots even with just the 4mp ultrapixel.

The m9 gets this much heat simply because HTC disappointed everyone. All they had to do is put a quality camera in there. Cant pretend your device is premium with all the metal but then assemble cheap components...cant really blame them fully for the 810 though, Qualcomm let everyone down.

it goes BEYOND 100

you just have to do it for yourself and see it for yourself

Such a spec geek response. The edge doesn't need extra functionality to justify a higher price. It's far more premium and better looking. There. There's the price premium.

I'm in the same boat as you. No 128gb S6 and no 128gb S6 Edge anywhere.
Marty, do you not have a preference between the two?

Cannot you expand on what you do with those to get better battery life?
Ah, Greenify shuts down apps of your choice that keep waking up your phone for no reason *cough*Facebook*cough*. On Samsung though, Facebook and bloatware counts as a System App, and it doesn't hibernate those unless you buy the "donate version " (gosh I hate that term).

Tasker automates stuff on your phone. It's not very noob friendly though, and you have to make the profiles yourself. What I use it for is for is to turn off WiFi+4G if the screen has been off for more than 3 minutes (unless on certain apps). Turn on WiFi/Data when launching certain apps. When turning on WiFi, wait 60 seconds for it to connect, otherwise turn WiFi off. Only turn GPS on Google Maps and turn it off when done. Turn Bluetooth off after 60 seconds of no device paired. Airplane+Silent Mode when gone to bed (screen off for more than 90 minutes at night), or in class (location school and appropriate time).

If the S6 and the S6e were the same price, would that affect your choices?

Just curious, as both are 'free' for me, so naturally I went for the more expensive one.

Plus: its cooooooool.

If they were the same price, I'd go with the Edge.

Even at $100 more, I'd still probably go with the Edge.

Edge for the looks, marginally bigger battery and more internal storage.

I think $50 would be making them fly off the shelf. I think the extra 50 makes it harder to justify. I would consider the edge for $50

I'm going back and forth on it. I'm worried the warping of the visuals on the edges will bug me. It's just on that borderline where it might be okay and might be annoying. I also like how the Edge looks but it seems silly to take a flashy physical phone over warping visuals. But since I'm on the fence, I'd even consider just getting which ever one is available first. But now that it's launched, maybe I'll wait until the G4 is announced in two weeks to see what it has to offer. Samsung probably would have had my money if they had offered the 128 gig version more readily available.
