I'm going back and forth on it. I'm worried the warping of the visuals on the edges will bug me. It's just on that borderline where it might be okay and might be annoying. I also like how the Edge looks but it seems silly to take a flashy physical phone over warping visuals. But since I'm on the fence, I'd even consider just getting which ever one is available first. But now that it's launched, maybe I'll wait until the G4 is announced in two weeks to see what it has to offer. Samsung probably would have had my money if they had offered the 128 gig version more readily available.

It's surprising that no stores have 128gb models at all, I even pre-ordered a few days ago. Why make a 128gb model and not ship it for launch at all? I would get it if it was limited quantities, but Bell stores didn't even get a single unit in.

GET THE EDGE

STYLE AND PROFILE ON RANDOM HUMANS

Except for the camera, having a worse screen than the M8, the overheating problems....

All are fine, no issues here. Compared with the galaxy at the store, went with the M9 immediately with no hesitation. the build quality is THAT much better. The edge felt like I was going to snap it in half.

Yes those drop tests made it look insanely fragile...

Played with an S6 today. Felt good in the hand, though I'm not a fan the glossy glass on the back. Minor complaint though.

TouchWiz and Samsung's apps are much improved, and much closer to material design than what I'm seeing from any other OEM not named Motorola, and to a lesser extent, Sony. Though LG's UX 4.0 looks like it's heading in that direction too, based on the teaser video. That said, Samsung's color palette is still in need of change, and the notification shade/quick settings panel is still ugly and a bit too busy. Edit: Forgot about the launcher. The TouchWiz launcher (and Samsung's icons) are still aesthetically the worst.

Stock still looks and feels miles better, but TouchWiz, for the most part, is now no longer something that would prevent me from getting a Galaxy. Still too much bloat though. At least it's nowhere near as bad as it was before.

My new home screens if anyone still cares xD

Greenify+Tasker for unlimited battery life bro. (although you have to root for the proper use of the latter)
Your new home screens look much better.

Here's my current setup that I've been rocking for a while now. From the home screen thread:

Started at 80% battery, 6.5 hours since then. I can see getting 3.5hr SoT on a daily basis.

The reviews state otherwise but if you're happy then that's all that matters

reviews say this is a very good phone, only marginally worse than the galaxy s6, and they're correct.

The camera isn't as good as that of the S6, not disputing that. but build quality of the phone (really, it's night and day between the two) and sense being better than touchwiz put it over the top for me. The M9 is tangibly faster than the edge, no two ways around it.

if you have no standalone, and HAVE to have the best camera available then the samsung gets the nod. Otherwise I couldn't find a good reason not to go with the M9. And yes I'm aware the M8 is similar, but the M9 as the newer phone is going to be getting updates a full year longer at least, so it was worth it.

Besides, I got the phone on a promotion. 2 year lease, $5 a month, 0 down. there was no cost differential between the M8 and M9.

I dun goofed and decided to flash a beta rom and now my phone is in a bootloop. Flashing the previous version I was on isn't doing anything. Didn't make a backup. Can still access recovery and mount phone though, so that's news.

Whyyyyy must I love tinkering.

Got my S6 at an AT&T store. All local stores had 32GB flat in stock. The guy said there wasn't huge demand today. Poor Samsung...no one is gonna get that Apple launch hype.

Reviews say at best it's a side grade from the M8 and really it's the phone to buy if you want to go HTC.

As for the build quality comments, are you sure you were using an S6? You're the only person to try to insinuate that the HTC is better and by quite some margin too.

Yea not bad. Mine is around 4 hours. My screen brightness is around 40%.

And my god this phone has the best standby time I've ever used for an Android phone. I lose like 1% every 2 hours if the screen is off. It is godlike.

yep. S6 edge. hard to mistake it for anything else. played around with the vanilla S6 as well but the edge is the better looking phone between the two in terms of aesthetics (it's very attractive and will turn heads) so I spent more time with that. There were lines so I was in there for a good hour or so before I got a chance to order anything.

ugh.

it's funny that i always take the time out to make a backup... and have never had to use one.

reading these stories ensures that i continue that practice.

Despite enjoying Android I don't think I've ever enjoying flashing ROMs and all that business.

I used to do it all the time. Was a massive fan of the work PA did over all the other ROM makers but ever since Lollipop custom ROMS seem to be really slow compared to stock and more issues than normal.

Take cyanogen atm it's got lag and when you create a secure lockscreen the lag is even worse. but I always end up back to stock on my N6 after a bit.

Where can I play around with some S6 demo units? Are they in all the carrier stores yet? I would prefer to be able to use one without a cable attached so I can actually know how it feels in hand.

they should be in all carrier stores, ask the person working there to whip one out for you. They'll do anything for a sale :p

I never had a problem either, so I rarely did full nandroid backups; really only app data.

I didn't enjoy the experience either at first, but once I found a groove, everything was gravy. It eventually became as simple as downloading the ROM/update & gapps with an app, wiping/formatting a couple things, and flashing. After that, restore app data and I'm good to go. I had it down to a science.

Such a shame. Can't believe they skimped on the battery, would be perfect otherwise. Tis the reason to wait for Note 5

Hmm. Tempted to download this, but it's been years since I last played Postal and I'm not sure how well it would hold up.

Still, it's only £1.34. Tempting...

I played it again a few years ago and it never was a good game. I was younger and more immature so the gratuitous violence held interest

That screen is unbelievable, holy fucking shit. Just sublime. The edge looks awesome but there is slight color banding on the sides and the left and right edge are really quite sharp. The regular S6 is definitely more comfortable in hand. The Edge definitely had sexiness going for it though.

I compared it to my OPO, and while the res bump isn't very noticeable at a normal distance the screen on the S6 has such beautiful brightness, colors and contrast. Its really amazing in person.

Yeah, I watched a bit of the MKBHD BMW i8 video in 1440p at a T-Mobile store and it looked amazing. Can't wait to get my phone, hurry up Costco!

I got the black S6 Edge today, this is seriously the best phone ever released. There's absolutely no lag and the Edges are sexy as hell. It's a worthy upgrade over the amazing M7. Only thing I really dislike about the phone is the fact that i can't sort my apps by name.

My app draw has the option to sort by name alphabetically, or manually sort.

Not seeing any option on mine:

I've seen it on some videos next to the edit button (should say A-Z). It's weird that yours doesn't have it.

There's some real inconsistencies with this device, the Bell version for example doesn't have the "Galaxy S6" or "Galaxy S6 Edge" branding on the back, some carriers have the branding (at least in the US). I don't get it.

My Rogers Edge doesn't have the branding (thank god)

But yeah, this app sorting thing is really annoying.

American carriers put a shameless amount of branding on their phones. Verizon puts their brand name on the Samsung home button smh.

It's hilarious and sad how much branding Verizon puts on their phones, if I lived in the states I would avoid them like the plague no matter how good their network is. I saw that AT&T put their logo on the back of the S6 where the Samsung logo normally is. Gross.

What's the best site for phone unlock codes? I might just buy the phone tomorrow from another canadian carrier and get it unlocked myself. Bell is useless.

There's a Verizon logo on the back but nothing on the front, certainly not a logo on the home button.

Coverage means a lot more when you live in a country that's as large as the US and has as much rural areas.
